Leo felt his lip twitching as he tried to control his reaction. He was sure everything that happened was a coincidence but he still told Christina to stop talking just in case
Ignoring the grievance on the girls face, he turned his attention towards the skeleton warrior, trying to estimate it's speed as it rushed towards them

About 5 seconds had passed since it started running towards them and it had only travelled 30 metres. Meaning 6m/s or an Agility attribute of 0.6, seeing this Leo felt his body relax somewhat as he told the girls to get ready
This speed meant that even if the trap failed, everyone could escape rapidly. Of course he also realised that the skeleton may be faster if it loses it sword but he estimated that it was 1 at most
Everyone watched in silence as the skeleton warrior gradually got closer. These few seconds feeling like eternity. The green soul fire seemed to burn brighter in excitement as it got closer

Leo was at the front, the rope in his hand already having a loop, as he jumped over the skeleton warrior, his gaze meeting its soul fire, throwing the rope towards it
By the time he landed, the rope had tightened around it's neck, seeing this, he pulled with all his strength, causing the skeleton warrior to lean back
Seeing this, he shouted for Rebecca who was already ready, an arrow flew out instantly piercing it's right socket, which caused the skeleton warrior to let out a roar of pain, before it started to thrash around and tried to climb out of the pit
The pit was dug 25m way from the wall, allowing Rebecca to give full play to her accuracy, not to mention Leo had used the last of his UP to upgrade her Archery to level 4
Leo was dragged forward by the struggling skeleton warrior, seeing this he motioned to Diana and the others who were already in position.
Diana and Lisa threw their ropes around it's neck before joining Leo and tried to pull it back, to give Rebecca another shot to take out it's remaining soul fire but their actions failed as the skeleton warrior pulled them forward gradually climbing out of the pit
Seeing this, Leo signalled to Tia and Tori who ran towards the skeleton warrior, throwing their ropes around one of it's arms which was on the edge of the pit before they pulled
Causing it's arm to give out from under it, which made it fall to the side. Taking this opportunity, Leo, Lisa and Diana pulled which caused the skeleton to fall backwards
Seeing this, Rebecca took her shot, piercing it's left eye. Completely blinding it.
Instead of relaxing, Leo signalled to the rest of the girls who threw their ropes towards it's last arm and around it's torso. Holding it in place amidst it's struggle
Not wasting any time, Leo took off the sledgehammer he fastened together today. It weighed 40kg and rushed towards the skeleton warrior
" bring it down " shouted Leo as he raised the sledgehammer above his head. Hearing his words, the girls rushed towards Diana and Lisa, pulling the skeleton warrior backwards, his body touching the ground
The moment it's head touched the ground, Leo brought down the sledge hammer
A dull thud echoed throughout the surrounding forest, as Leo stepped back in pain from the rebound force, blood dripping down the sledge hammer
Ignoring the pain. Leo raised the sledgehammer above his head once again as he stepped forward, looking at the skeleton warrior solemly
He found that he had completely crushed one side of it's head, all being left were fragments. It movements gradually slowing before they came to a complete halt
Seeing this, the others breathed a sigh of relief as their grip loosened on the ropes, only for Leo to hit the remaining side of it's skull, completely destroying it's skull
Leo let go of the hammer, breathing deeply he used UP to heal his injuries before he turned towards the others who were looking at him strangely
" just in case " said Leo, only to jump back in surprise as the skeleton warriors body slowly turned into ash and blew away in the wind
Before he could react, a panel popped up before his face

Seeing this, Leo broke into a smile before he turned towards the girls who were celebrating at their victory
" good job ladies but the night isn't over just yet " said Leo as he picked up the sledgehammer, putting it on his shoulder
" check for injuries, gather the supplies, and fix the pit, it may be used again tonight "
" hopefully not " muttered Christina as she wiped the sweat from her brow

Several hours had passed in a hurry, fatigue gradually affecting the girls. Leo could heal their injuries but you couldn't do anything for their fatigue
The good thing was that the sun was going to rise in a few minutes, which if the words of Thomas are to be believed is the end of this disaster
In these past few hours, they had killed 11 more skeleton warriors, the last 3 being stronger than the others. If he had to take a guess, he'd say they were level 2 Bronze Knights, while the others were level 1
They found out about the difference in strength at the cost of 3 of the girls being injured, but all in all, the pit still came in clutch, it just took more swings to destroy they're skulls
They were worth 200 UP. So in this one night, he made 1400 UP, if you count the ones needed to heal injuries or strengthen more ropes after the previous ones got damaged, he made 1200
A number that would take him 2 weeks to muster. While he was feeling proud at tonight's success, he was awoken by Rebecca who tapped him and pointed forward towards the edge of the clearing
Where 5 skeleton warriors walked out of the forest, sprinting towards them with roars and judging by their speed alone, they were stronger than the last three they had killed
" run " said Leo without hesitation as he led the girls down the wall into the village. He didn't get arrogant and think he could kill them.
He knew full well that they took advantage tonight when they killed those skeleton warriors. A single one of them could wipe out their entire group
He ran at the back to make sure no one fell behind only to freeze as they reached the other side of the village where 4 more skeleton warriors came towards them
" run to the left " said Leo, he didn't intend to sit here and wait until they caught up only for Rebecca to pull his arm and pointed
" it doesn't matter, we're surrounded "
Hearing her words, he looked and found that all directions were blocked which caused his expression to turn grim
' did their senses also get stronger along with their strength? ' thought Leo as he contemplated using all his UP points to increase his strength then lead the girls to break through a less crowded area
Just when he was about to do what he had decided, he froze as the skeleton warriors suddenly let out pained roars as they froze in place
" the sun " said Anna as she jumped up in excitement. Hearing her words, everyone suddenly realised what had happened and let out sighs of relief
They watched in silence as the skeleton warriors gradually turned to ashes under the suns rays. Before a gust of wind erased any evidence of their existence. The village returning to its previous silence
A thud broke everyone out of their reverie at survival as they glanced towards the source finding that Anna had collapsed, which caused them to rush towards her
After checking her, Leo found that she had simply passed out from exhaustion
" she's fine, she just needs to sleep well " said Leo as he turned towards the others finding that they had passed out around him as well which caused him to let out a slight chuckle
They were really brave tonight, even when they get injured, they didn't fuss or fret and gritted their teeth until the skeleton warrior was dead. Like little valkyries, it's only now that he saw their exhausted faces that he remembered that they were just children
Shaking away his thoughts, Leo lifted them one by one and took them home and placed them in the bed before he returned all the swords and bow to the Mayor's house, making sure there wasn't any noticeable difference than before they borrowed them
Before taking up his shovel and heading towards the pit, as he had to fill it in before anyone returned to the village, not intending to let anyone know about what they did
Increasing his realm to Apprentice Knight Level 2, he managed to fill the pit in less than an hour and removed any visible traces before heading home
He barely managed to make it to his chair before he fell asleep exhausted....
