Chapter 10 - Touched by the Lady

Abigail felt so out of place in her own kitchen. There were just too many people. The beastkin were always afraid of upsetting Michele so they tried to do any and everything to make sure she was happy. But she would only be happy if they were out of her kitchen.

She sighed inwardly.

'What's wrong?' She jumped and her hand shot to her face as if he had been right beside her to see the look on her face. She put her hand to her chest and exhaled in relief. She had not closed off her feelings and emotions.

'Everything fine.'

'You are lying to me. Why are you lying?" and she instantly felt the pull of him pulling her to him. She was actually very used to this situation so she was surprised or caught off guard in any way.

His rom was unusually dark and she immediately frowned. He was a creature if habit and usually did not change unless she introduced a change to him.

'Is everything okay My Lord? How can I help you?'

Everything went quiet in the room. How did she know there was a problem?

"Everything is fine. Why do you ask that?"

She was quiet for a long while. 'It just feels like there is a problem.' She frowned. She felt an odd twinge. 'Are you hurt My Lord? Please let me help you.'

The room brightened and as her eyes adjusted they went wide. She rushed to him to examine the damage. Tears bloomed in her eyes and she did not know why. She brushed them aside as she first began collecting water.

'Who cleaned this?! Are they trying to give him an infection?! I need to make him some soup with different herbs in it to speed up his recovery.'

She went to the kitchen and had helpers get fresh water, she ordered others to get piles of specific herbs and begin prepping them. She had the cook assistants gather the veggies she wanted for the two soups she was planning and told them to have the farmers bring her three animals.

She rushed into the room with water and special cleansers that she made. The beastkin paused at the door. At first she thought it was to wait for permission to enter. Just as she was about to say that she gave them permission she saw them changing back to humans. She rounded on Michele.

"You!" 'This has got to stop! Alloe these people to work in their first forms My Lord. I have no problem looking at beastkin. I love seeing you in your first and second forms why would it be different for other species?'

Michele was shocked, then he was made, and then he was shocked again. He looked blankly at the beastkin and nodded.

"Maintain the most comfortable form. From now on do as your mistress commands."

Abigail frowned. Mistress? Then he looked to her with a smile. "You just spoke." He winced in pain and then began smiling again.

Again she was frowning. Her hands moving quickly and her mind focused on his wounds. She washed the wounds, mad because he was hurt and hadn't told her anything. She watched dirt and old blood flow into their new sewer system and called for more water.

It was not until she was applying a thick smelly salve that she could finally find a mind to respond.

'What did you mean I spoke? I speak into your mind all the time My Lord? Do I need to check you for toxins? I have a potion that will incorporate new toxins into your personal toxin mix making it stronger.'

He was about to answer with frustration but he was intrigued by this.

"Really. I would like to see this." She nodded. "and earlier you said the word 'you'.

She frowned but didn't argue.

The Allora were not extremely powerful but there were many of them. This caused them to be rather fierce some.

As she saw more wounds tears filled her eyes again and again she fought them back.

She finished and went to prepare his first soup that would replace a snack. When she first opened the stinky salve he almost told her not to use it on him but it immediately began to cool and soothe. Now he was basking in that cooling sensation. This woman was a treasure. He paused and frowned.

His treasure.

Why did his chest twist and his abdomen clinch when he just thought that? Technically speaking she belonged to him. She could be his treasure but something was still off about it. Somehow he was still thinking of it wrong.

She slept in his room but not with him. He had been upset about that but she would not budge. She would need to care for him so she could not sleep in the same bed and wake him up when she needed to get up for something.

She slept harder than usual but she still got up when she needed to. But then she dreamed. She dreamed of a beautiful woman. She believed that this is what a fairygodmother would look like it they were real.

She had long hair that fell past her waist and looked to be made of stardust. Her eyes looked like fathomless cosmos and her clothes were od pure light. She smiled at her and Abigail forgot herself for a moment.

"Hello Abigail. My name is Margot." Anger flashed across her face. "I am so sorry for not monitoring you better. I would never have allowed you to be in such a situation. Those people you lived with…" She had to pause again. She exhaled and inhaled a few times and then a smile bloomed across her face once more.

"You are right." She shrugged. "You can call me your fairygodmother. I am a friend of your mother's mother. And when you were born I saw that fate loved you. You did not just have an affinity for fat magics fate had several knots within you as if it never wanted to lose you.

"So I gave you blessings. Others will call it being 'Touched by the Lady of Fate'. So now you are forever blessed of fate. You will be able to create anything you desire and you will be able to do anything you desire.

"In other words fate will always guide you to the most opportune thing along a given line of fate. You will be able to create and do anything you desire to without the need for any prior knowledge."

Margot looked at her lovingly.

"Just call me and I will be there. I will never leave you again."

They looked at each other for many moments and then Margot faded as if she had never existed.

Abigail awoke with a frown. Was she dreaming? She got up and checked Michele.
