Mia opened her swollen eyes to her alarm, she had her makeup smudged on her face, her dress rolled up to her belly, her hair in a perfect mess, she had cried herself to sleep.
Running into the bathroom, she took a thorough bath, had her already ironed dress ready and in a few minutes, she was done. She needed to get to the main house, do her job and get out before bumping into Rey.
Her phone pinged and her heart skipped, at that moment, she remembered her cousin, Beatrice. Beatrice would be worried about the code Red, she should call her and update her on the recent happenings.
Walking to her bed, she bends to pick her phone, uses the face unlock only to have Rey's message scream to her face.
Mr. Reynaldo: In the garage now!
She stares at the message with a twisted face, at first, it felt like she could not understand the words. She read it out loud this time and did not resist a scoff, an expression of unbelief marred her face and she felt her heart expand, no, not with excessive oxygen or carbon dioxide, but with fury. Hot destructive fury.
Another ping and vibration and his message popped up again.
Mr. Reynaldo: Where are you!? I should come get you myself.
She rushed to her window, opened the closed curtains and peeked through only to jerk with her breath stopping for a bit.
It was as if he had been drilling holes into her window from where he stood and she had looked him straight in the eye, on opening the curtains.
"What's his deal?" Mia swore her heart quaked, the last curse from him and his glare from last night were still fresh in her head.
Preparing her mind for any irrational act from him, she made a mental note to call Beatrice later in the day as she walked out of the door in brisk steps to meet him.
Seeing her hide her perfect curve beneath the archaic uniform made him scoff. He thought of making her wear bodycon dresses henceforth, the thought excited him.
"Good morning Sir." Mia greeted politely.
"What's good about the morning?" Rey asked, walking closer to her.
The foul stench from him made her wrinkle her nose subtly. 'He had been drinking.'
"Look at me!" He ordered and Mia raised her head to meet him at once wondering why he was in a bad mood.
Sniffing the air around him deeply but slowly so as not to be noticed, she smelled something else aside from the alcohol from him. A feminine perfume. It wasn't so hard to conclude that he had been fucking around again. He disgusted her.
"What's with the frown?" His hand flew to her chin immediately.
She saw it coming and could have turned her head aside but allowed him to hold her, she wasn't ready for the drama this morning.
"You delayed stepping out. What were your plans?" His face was closer and she felt her stomach churn.
"I am…" She was about to apologize.
"Forget it. Go dress, we'll eat out." He let go of her and she had never been more grateful.
"Okay Sir." She had almost given a bow but stopped herself, instead, she made a U-turn and headed back towards the direction she came from.
Rey ran his hand through his hair in frustration. What was he becoming? A mess? A confused adult? But he could not be in a real relationship anymore. Aside from his past trauma, Mia was lower in class. A cook!
Seeing her up close made his heart pound. Her soft skin against his finger tips made him want to touch her even more. He knew he reeked, he reeked of alcohol and sex, he knew but he still wanted to be close to her, to see her face and announce his existence.
Seeing her receding back, his legs took steps of their own. He shouldn't be doing this, but what else could he do?
Mia unlocked her door, stepped in, pushed it to a close, grabbed her phone and hurriedly stepped towards the wardrobe filled with a lot of new clothing she was yet to try on as Rey's fiancée.
"What's with him?" She frowned, remembering his face and the stinking smell.
"Don't tell me you're mumbling about me?" Rey's voice boomed and she jerked, missed a footing, only to land on her butt.
Her heart pounded in her throat as she looked at Rey who stood tall, making the space in her room feel extremely small and suffocating.
For some reason, she felt her hands quake, but not only her hands, her entire body quaked too. What did he want here? The thought of Rey wanting something extra from her nauseated her but looking at him and remembering his heart shattering fake kiss from yesterday made her thighs twitch.
She watched him look around as if looking for something, an evidence to ban her to hell, she thought.
"It's high time you moved into the main house." He plopped down on her bed and she gaped at him.
Her facial expression gave him the satisfaction he wanted.
She looked at his narcissistic face and how casually he said what he said and dropped into her bed like he owned it.
"It's high time you start acting like my fiancée." He continued, crossing his legs and still casually looking around her room.
"But sir…"
"It's something you have to get used to." He raised a brow at her.
"It wasn't part of the…" She swallowed her words when she saw the familiar look in his eyes.
Looking away from him, she decided it was best to avoid an argument. "Okay Sir." She responded and looked towards him.
"You would…" Her phone rang, cutting him short.
Rey looked at her before looking at her phone. He knew he shouldn't interfere or concern himself in her business but he could not help it. "Who is it?"
