Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Taking-Over the Creatures of the Gourmet World

"Miss Mirajane, you mentioned your Takeover Magic in your world targets magical beasts. Now that it's fueled by Caloric Energy, could you use it on creatures here?" Hisako asked suddenly.

The question stunned Mirajane. Trapped in her old mindset—magicless world, useless Takeover Magic—she hadn't considered the possibility.

"Maybe… but I haven't tried," she admitted, eyeing the Obasaurus. Though ugly, their partial features might enhance her form without distorting her appearance.

"Give it a shot. Obasaurus—don't resist," Zed ordered. If successful, this could revolutionize combat for others unable to channel Gourmet Demons.

Mirajane stepped forward, her hands glowing with Caloric Energy. One of the five Obasaurus vanished in a flash, its essence merging with her.

Her body shifted: jagged spikes erupted along her arms, and twin wrist blades—serrated like the beast's claws—extended from her forearms. The blades gleamed like futuristic mantis knives, a fusion of primal ferocity and sleek design.

"It worked! But… it's not very useful for us," Zed mused, unimpressed.

"Why not?" Erina protested. "Taking over creatures could grant flight, aquatic adaptation—"

"For others, yes. But we channel our Gourmet Demons," Zed interrupted. "Their power dwarfs any beast. Even a small amopunt allow us to survive space, fly without wings—" He flicked his wrist, conjuring two Caloric Spoons that hummed midair. "—or create tools like these. Why mimic a Obasaurus when Gourmet Demons offer limitless potential?"

As he spoke, Zed condensed a Chopstick, one side flattening into a sharp blade.

"The same applies to Spoons—they can morph into walls or shields. Caloric Kitchenware isn't static. Flight has countless methods; no need to mimic flying creatures."

The Gourmet Demon, now their primary takeover target, offered limitless adaptability. For them, taking over lesser beasts was redundant.

"So, taking over the Gourmet Demon grants infinite possibilities," Erina concluded.

"Gourmet Demons are tyrannical. My old Demon Soul form was versatile, but it pales next to theirs," Mirajane admitted, awed by the raw power she now channeled without cost.

"Goal achieved. Let's head back—and take two Obasaurus," Zed ordered, leaving the remaining three in the White Forest.

IGO Research Institute

Toriko and Komatsu had departed, but Sunny and Rin remained.

"You're back. Obasaurus, huh? They are Powerful… but hideous," Sunny grimaced, his aesthetic sensibilities offended.

"Indeed, they are ugly, but very efficience," Zed shrugged, tasking Sunny with registering the beasts and securing Mirajane's ID. Though puzzled by her sudden appearance, Sunny processed the paperwork without question.

Nakaume Gourmet School

Zed returned Erina and Hisako to Chef Sumire, leaving behind ingredients and the two Obasaurus.

"Subdued Obasaurus obey flawlessly. Their danger level is minimal," Chef Sumire assured, permitting the beasts on campus. Despite their grotesque appearance, students and faculty marveled at the Capture Level 28 guardians—a rarity for civilians.
