Klaus was hiding behind the dense canopies of the humongous forest, waiting for a target to come near him.
He lie in wait for some time, his stomach constantly rambling this whole time, still he waited.
A few hours passed, and Klaus finally saw a rabbit like animal in his vicinity. He tried to recall information about that thing.
"This Idiot. He doesn't even know about too many monsters and came to hunt in the forest. Tch. What a waste of memories." Klaus lamented on his bad luck as he let the rabbit approach his hideout before deciding to act.
When the rabbit was just a few metres away, he silently activated his [Flame Kick] and jumped in the target's direction with all his might. Realisation dawned upon the rabbit but alas, it was too late now.
Klaus's kick connected with the rabbit's head and in what seemed like an instant, the rabbit flew back with an insane velocity before colliding with a tree and becoming mangled flesh and bones with burn marks all over it.
"Oww.. hit it too hard.." Klaus neared the body and it took only a glance before he puked his guts out. Although his stomach was rumbling, he wasn't going to eat that mess at any cost.
"Urgggghh, i can't eat that. I'll have to hunt something else now." Dejected, he prepared himself for another hunt.
The hunter got in his position again, his position a few hundred metres away from his previous one. A few hours passed just like before but this time nothing came, except for the quakes inside his stomach.
"Where are these damn monsters? Isn't this forest supposed to be filled with them? No that's not right. Let's wait for an hour more." Klaus reasoned with himself and stayed there in the end.
His speculations came true as he saw an monster coming near his hiding place, the monster not being a rabbit but more of a wolf like creature. Just like before, he doesn't seem to know about this one too.
Klaus didn't seem to mind about that as he only saw the animal as food and got into position. Once the target came into range, Klaus launched himself again. This time not so lucky as the wolf sensed him and moved sideways -fully avoiding the kick.
Klaus's expression turned aghast seeing this development but he quickly composed his thoughts and quickly directed his kick towards the ground while still being in air.
The ground cracked and small pebbles flew everywhere from the point of impact, making the wolf distracted just for a few moments, which was enough for Klaus to initiate his next actions.
He quickly ran towards the wolf seeing it distracted while activating his skill. The skill made his running unbelievably fast and he quickly arrived in front of the wolf and brought his knees straight up in a fluid motion.
The wolf came to his senses but could only watch helplessly as Klaus's knee collided with the world's head and the wolf was thrown in the air for a second. Klaus not wanting to waste this golden opportunity, quickly jumped and rotated his body.
When he reached the wolf's height, he spreaded his right leg and brought it down with his full speed. The kick connected with the wolf belly and it was again thrown back- this time towards the ground.
The wolf's body hit the ground and a small crater was formed there instantly. As for the wolf, his bones were protruding out of it's body and the belly was a gruesome sight to see.
Klaus landed a just few steps away from the wolf. He had a broad smile on his face seeing the food- ahem..wolf lying there.
"Wow. I was like one of those heroes from earth just now. Hehe hehehahahaha" and like that he laughed like a narcissist for some time.
He carried the wolf neared the pond, the same one where he arrived initially. After collecting some twigs here and there, meat, water and firewood were taken care of. Now he was left with only one problem- fire!
"Where will I find that here? Wait! Why am I searching it when I have it on me."
He put together the twigs at one place before placing his feet at them and activating his skill. Very soon the wood caught fire and he proceeded to roast the meat which he cutted with the wolf's bones.
Although it won't make smooth slices, he literally couldn't do anything for that right now. He cooked the meat very nicely before grabbing a bite from it.
"Hummm.. it's kind of bland but it's not like I can get to eat in a restaurant in this forest." He scoffed at his thoughts while munching on the piece.
Finally the lunch was over and Klaus was for the first time in days feeling full. He had eaten so much that he was currently unable to even walk properly, therefore he decided to rest and lied down on the grass beside the pond.
Klaus put his hands in his pocket and took out a nail sized- oval violet crystal. It was present in the wolf's body and found it when he was tearing it's body for meat.
He neared the crystal to his face while lying down and thinking.
"What can this be..Is it something to eat? Nah probably not."
Some other thoughts came into his mind but he discarded them too as they were just borderline ridiculous. One of them was a particular thought.
"Can THAT tell me about it?"
When nothing made sense, he came to his last resort and used something he had only tried once. Yes, his skill.
Klaus held the small crystal between his thumb and his index finger as he watched it with extreme focus. After a few seconds, his eyes shone a little brownish and he recalled some information he shouldn't have as he didn't knew about it previously.
At that time he finally knew that the skill worked.
He probed it and the contents broadly summarised as
( A energy fragment obtained from a Violet Ranked Entity.
* Can be used to obtain the mark of the infinite planes.
Commands:______)
Klaus was flabbergasted by all this. He had experienced it once before but it wasn't this detailed and orderly.
"It's updating?... Whatever. So this crystal is called a energy fragment huh." He looked at the crystal in his right hand and said.
"What is the infinite planes? And what does it mean by commands? Looks like there so much to figure out. sigh.." Klaus took a long sigh before trying something
He didn't knew what could a energy fragment possibly do, therefore he decided to leave it alone. And why should he not? What if it is used as an explosive in this world? Wouldn't he die foolishly in his second life?
Hence Klaus played it safe and moved on to the next sentence.
"Infinite planes huh...."
He finally reached the last sentence and looked at the empty space which was apparently a command.
He contemplated for a few seconds and did some tweaking.
"Do I have to say it? Bestow me the mark of the infinite planes."
Just when the last words escaped his lips, the crystal glowed brightly for a microsecond and then suddenly started crawling towards his right hand like a worm. A very nasty worm.
It reached his right index finger and enveloped it like a simple ring before bursting into minuscle pieces, leaving a black ring like tattoo about his index finger.
"Fuck. Shouldn't it give a warning if it had to explode like that? I was right about it."
Klaus cursed loudly and diverted his gaze towards the ring tattoo.
Klaus searched for the crystal around him but it was gone -already turned into pieces, invisible to the naked eye.
He finally stopped searching and scratched the tattoo with his nails, but the tattoo didn't wear off.
"It's permanent" he mumbled
"Sigh..at least it's not standing out. What do I do with it now? Like seriously!"
Klaus tried everything with the ring- touching, kissing, petting and scratching, but alas nothing happened. He even started chanting some random words thinking of it as some ritual, but of course it was idiotic and didn't work out.
In the end, Klaus felt defeated, so he got up from his position and decided to explore the forest for now.
