When he was finally done, he got ready and went to Nurse Joy and she handed over his Pokémons.

After taking all his Pokémon from Nurse Joy, Ryn walked to a training ground outside. He released all his Pokémon, their cries ringing with excitement.

Ryn nodded, pleased that his Pokémon were strong.

He said, "Good," and decided to challenge Misty. He headed to the Cerulean Gym, knowing the challenge process. The gym's schedule was posted: show time was first, then battles. He arrived during show time.

Ryn approached the ticket counter, eager to watch the show with his Pokémon. "Seven tickets, please," he said.

The clerk smiled. "Seven tickets, got it!" She handed them over, and Ryn paid.

He led Meowscarada, Charmeleon, Scyther, Jolteon, Mewtwo, and Vaporeon inside. They settled into seats with a clear view, the hall dark around them. A massive aquarium glowed at the center, its soft blue light spilling across the stage, leaving the audience in shadow.

Misty appeared, her long orange hair flowing, starring as the "Mermaid" in the water ballet "The Mermaid's Tale" with her sisters Daisy, Lily, and Violet. The story unfolded: a mermaid princess saving her ocean kingdom from a storm.

Misty's Pokémon brought the tale alive. Starmie spun, sending waves of light. Goldeen leaped through glowing hoops. Horsea traced smooth arcs, guiding the princess. Seel and Dewgong swam behind, their movements stirring gentle currents.

Ryn and his Pokémon sat entranced, caught in the story's magic. When the show ended, the audience and their Pokémon clapped, filling the hall with cheers. Ryn and his team joined in, their voices loud with excitement.

The lights brightened, casting a warm glow over the seats. An announcer's voice echoed clearly. "Trainers challenging the Cerulean Gym, head through the door to your right. All others, exit from the left."

The audience left the Cerulean Gym, happy from the show. Ryn and his Pokémon, still smiling, headed to the challenge area. A staff member greeted them, handing Ryn a random number to determine his battle order.

Some people went to watch the battles. When his name was called, Ryn walked into the arena, the crowd cheering loudly.

Misty stood ready, her orange hair in a high ponytail, different from the loose waves in the show. She wore a blue crop top, denim shorts, and red suspenders, unlike her sparkly dress from the performance.

"Hello, Ryn!" Misty called, "I'm Misty, Gym Leader of Cerulean Gym. Are you ready? It's a one-on-one battle!"

Ryn grinned, his eyes full of confidence. "Misty, don't hold back! I'm a strong trainer, and you'll regret it if you hold back!"

A playful smirk on her lips. "Oh, I love that fire! Alright, I'll give you my all." She glanced at the referee. "Let's make it a two-on-two!"

The referee nodded, raising a flag. "This will be a two-on-two battle! Begin!"

The crowd cheered as Misty threw her Poké Ball. "Since you want my best, go Gyarados!"

The huge sea serpent appeared with a roar, water splashing everywhere as it landed in the gym's pool. Its red scales shone under the lights as it towered over the battlefield.

Ryn remembered how strong Misty's Gyarados was, it had taken Pikachu a direct hit from Z-Move to defeat it. * I've got to be smart about this * he thought. But he was ready.

"Meowscarada, let's go!"

A cloud of sparkling petals burst open as the grass-type cat Pokémon appeared, landing lightly on one of the stone platforms in the water. People in the crowd whispered to each other, pointing at the unfamiliar Pokémon.

Misty looked surprised. "I've never seen that Pokémon before!"

"It's Meowscarada," Ryn explained. "From the Paldea region."

Misty smiled and got ready to battle. "Well let's see what it can do! Gyarados, use Hydro Pump!"

A giant blast of water shot toward Meowscarada, so powerful it broke pieces off the stone platforms.

"Flower Trick!" Ryn called.

Meowscarada jumped back and threw a glowing bouquet of flowers. When the flowers hit the water blast, they exploded in a shower of petals, stopping the attack.

The crowd gasped as water and petals rained down. Before the mist cleared, Meowscarada was already moving.

"Now, Thunder Punch!"

Meowscarada's fist crackled with electricity as she punched Gyarados right in the jaw. The huge Pokémon roared in pain, but quickly swung its tail around.

"Dragon Rage!" Misty ordered.

A fiery explosion hit Meowscarada before she could dodge. She got knocked back, her fur looking burned in places.

"You okay?" Ryn asked. Meowscarada nodded and got back up, looking determined.

Gyarados was breathing hard, sparks still jumping across its body. Misty wiped sweat from her forehead. "Hyper Beam, now!"

The powerful energy beam shot straight at Meowscarada.

"Shadow Claw - cut through it!"

Dark energy formed around Meowscarada's claws as she slashed at the beam. To everyone's shock, she actually split the Hyper Beam in half! The two parts hit the walls behind her instead.

The crowd went wild. Some people jumped to their feet, amazed at what they just saw.

"Now finish it with Flower Trick!" Ryn shouted.

Meowscarada spun around, throwing bouquet after bouquet of explosive flowers at Gyarados. Each one exploded against the huge Pokémon until finally, one last Thunder Punch sent Gyarados crashing into the water, defeated.

Meowscarada stood panting on the battlefield, her sleek fur now messy and one leg clearly hurting. But when she looked at Ryn, her eyes still burned with fight.

The gym erupted in cheers. People were shouting and clapping, amazed by the battle they just saw.

Misty recalled Gyarados with a smile. "You did a good job," she said, before turning to Ryn. "Not bad - you really are a strong trainer." She spun her last ball between her fingers, her smile turning fierce. "But are you ready for my secret weapon?"

"You bet, I am," Ryn said with a smile.

"Psyduck, let's go!" Misty called, tossing the ball underhand.

Ryn's breath caught in his throat. This was Psyduck, the same one he'd seen in the anime that became terrifyingly strong when its headaches increased. The duck blinked up at him with vacant eyes. Psyduck!

* If Misty has Gyarados, that means she might have trained her Psyduck too * Ryn thought. * If it wasn't trained, then I could easily defeat it by not hurting its head, but if it is trained, then I must be careful. I can't risk losing my chance at a badge now. Meowscarada has already taken serious damage… *

"Meowscarada, return!" Ryn called, recalling her. He brought the Poké Ball close and whispered, "You did good, girl. Rest up."
