Chapter 27 - Chapter 27

Episode 27: The Silent Escape

Under the shimmering glow of the moon, Tanji and Zhai stood in the grove, holding the precious Flower Key. The group of academy students, still reeling from their earlier encounter, eyed them with a mix of fear and confusion.

Tanji looked at them calmly, his fingers tracing the intricate flower patterns on the golden key. "This is where we part ways," he said softly, his voice carrying an edge of authority.

Zhai stepped forward, grinning mischievously. "But first, a little something to ensure you all get a good rest."

With a flick of his wrist, Zhai conjured a spell, a wave of shimmering golden light spreading across the grove. The students tried to resist, but the spell was too strong. One by one, they yawned, their eyes fluttering shut as they fell into a deep, enchanted sleep.

Zhai crouched beside one of the students and mockingly whispered, "Goodnight, sweet dreams." He stood up, brushing his hands together with satisfaction.

Tanji smirked, slipping the key into his pocket. "Efficient, as always, Zhai. Let's go before anyone else stumbles upon us."

As they walked through the academy's quiet paths, Zhai suddenly stretched his arms above his head, letting out an exaggerated sigh.

"Master," he began, "I'm tired of all this running around. The academy, the spells, the missions—don't you think we deserve a break?"

Tanji raised an eyebrow, glancing at him. "A break? We're in the middle of something important, Zhai. The Flower Key is just the beginning."

Zhai rolled his eyes. "I know, I know. The whole five-element thing, the red pearl, the destiny, blah blah blah. But come on, Master. Even you need to rest. Let's head to Heaven. Just for a bit. A big, long break where no one bothers us."

Tanji chuckled softly. "You're always full of ideas, aren't you? And what would you do in Heaven, exactly?"

Zhai grinned, his eyes lighting up. "I'd eat the best food, relax in the golden gardens, maybe even visit the Celestial Springs. Oh, and definitely avoid anyone asking me to read ancient texts!"

Tanji shook his head, amused. "Fine. We'll take a short break. But remember, Zhai, this is temporary. The real journey is just beginning."

Zhai pumped his fist in the air, his excitement barely contained. "Yes! You won't regret this, Master."

---

The two disappeared into the shadows, leaving the academy behind as they made their way toward Heaven.

But even as Zhai dreamed of relaxation and indulgence, Tanji's mind was already calculating their next move. The Flower Key was just one piece of the puzzle, and he knew the challenges ahead would only grow more dangerous.

For now, though, a brief moment of peace

awaited them—before the storm resumed.
