The following morning, Nero took a bath and then had a light breakfast before heading to the academy. Today was the day of the tests, and passing them would secure his acceptance.
Although it didn't show on his face, Nero felt a tension building inside him as he wondered whether he would pass or not. Shaking his head to dispel those distracting thoughts, he resolved to focus on the test. He would succeed.
A few minutes later he arrived, the academy was full of people today.
On one side, the students were gathering and forming lines.
"New students! Please have your student IDs ready in advance!"
"You'll need to show your student ID here to receive your placement test number!"
"The written test will begin at 10 o'clock!"
Thanks to the bustling crowd and loud voices, he quickly understood the situation.
He naturally took his place at the end of the line.
"Next."
As the line of students steadily moved forward, he took one step at a time.
At this point, he could see students leaning to the side, showing their student IDs, and receiving their number tags.
The Nero turn came.
"Student ID, please."
"…Here it is."
"Just write your name in the signature field here."
Following the man's words he did exactly as he was told and he received his number tag: 90.
Nero went to the examination hall number 4 and sat on the seat which had the number 90 written on it. As expected the hall was filled with students in wait. They looked at him for a second before focusing on what they had been doing, most of them were reading books, mumbling to themselves as they did some last-minute cramming.
Nero closed his eyes to review what he had learned the last few weeks. The first time was the written test.
A few minutes later, someone walked in.
It was a stern-looking woman. She was holding a thick document envelope in her arms.
"There don't seem to be any empty seats. Put everything away except for your pens, and turn off your smartphones."
As they tidied up their books, a few students sighed almost in despair. They were clearly frustrated by the lack of time.
"The written test will last 120 minutes. Students who finish within the allotted time may leave and proceed to the practical test. However, once you leave, you will not be allowed to re-enter until the test ends."
The examiner continued her explanation, making sure everyone understood.
The examiner, without moving from the lectern, began to nudge the stacked test papers with a single finger.
The papers fluttered through the air and landed gently, one by one, on the desks where the students were seated.
The students widened their eyes in astonishment at the examiner's incredible precision and control.
"Wow!"
"Quiet. You are not to open the test papers until I announce the start of the exam. If anyone opens them beforehand, it will be considered cheating."
In the sharp silence that followed the warning,
Only the faint murmurs of students repeating what they had memorized echoed softly.
The examiner who had been checking her wristwatch at the lectern finally lifted her head.
"Begin the test."
At the cold command, the students snapped to attention. The sound of rustling papers filled the room as they all unfolded their test sheets in unison.
Nero too gripped his pen with determination and opened the first page of the test.
Question 1) Under the laws of the academy city Elysia, what actions incur a fine?
1. Entering restricted areas without proper authorization.
2. Causing disruptions that interfere with the normal operation of critical facilities.
3. Taking weapons owned by Orion Academy without permission.
Question 2) Mention the different type of laws. Add some sub laws as well, the more you mention the more points you'll get.
The following questions were about monsters and various historical events such as the first racial war, the the first continental war. The first racial war referred to the war when the different races fought each other vying for supremacy, it was a brutal war. The First Continental War referred to the years few years ago where all the races united to fight the monsters.
Expect for the first question, Nero didn't have trouble answering the other questions.
Then, as the first to finish, Nero handed in the test and headed straight to the practical test hall.
Creak.
After submitting my test paper, he quietly opened the door and stepped out into the hallway.
Two people, who appeared to be staff members of the academy, were standing there.
The moment one of them saw him, they spoke up.
"The practical test hall is in the first-floor gymnasium. Just follow the signs."
"Thank you."
As soon as he heard the gymnasium was his destination, a map of the layout formed in his head because previously he had memorized the school map.
