Chapter 19 - Chapter 19: Accompany Me to Shop

Le Tong clenched her hand secretly by her side, bit her lip, and pushed the lunchbox on the table in front of Ji Rui.

"President, your lunch. I'll head out if there's nothing else!"

Le Tong tried her best to appear calm, but inside she was cursing, damn it, this President Ji really needs to treat his paranoia!

Le Tong watched as Ji Rui's expression darkened little by little, feeling quite pleased inside, though she didn't dare stay any longer. She turned around and strode out.

"Stop!" Ji Rui called out coldly.

Le Tong turned her head and smiled, saying, "President, since you and Mr. Zhuo have private matters to discuss, it's inconvenient for me to stay!" As she spoke, she didn't pause her steps and quickly slipped out the door, not caring if Ji Rui was happy or not, closing the door with a "bang."

Once the door was closed, Le Tong grimaced and hissed in pain. The large movement just now probably tore the healing skin on her back, and it was hurting terribly.

Le Tong endured the pain and ran back to the table, took out her return ticket, and without bothering to eat, she quickly took the ticket to the finance department to find Aunt Huang for reimbursement, before Ji Rui had a chance to change his mind.

"Look at you rushing like that, what's the hurry? I wouldn't refuse to help you with the reimbursement!" Aunt Huang teased her with a smile as she took the ticket, glanced at it, and then stamped a confirmation on it.

Le Tong thought, of course you wouldn't refuse, but President Ji is another matter. He was probably so mad at me just now that he might change his mind later.

"Aunt Huang, I'm seriously over budget this month. Could you be a dear and transfer the money into my account a bit earlier?"

Le Tong clung to Aunt Huang, speaking in a soft and cute tone.

This Aunt Huang had a son in his twenties at home and, seeing that Le Tong was diligent, pretty, and had a good character, often joked about introducing her son to Le Tong. Naturally, she was kind to Le Tong.

"Alright, alright, I'll transfer it to you right now." Aunt Huang, who always wanted a daughter, was coaxed until she was all soft.

Le Tong immediately played up to Aunt Huang, standing behind her and enduring the discomfort in her back as she began to massage Aunt Huang's shoulders.

Feeling like royalty, Aunt Huang happily transferred over a thousand yuan into Le Tong's account. With a contented smile, Le Tong continued massaging Aunt Huang's shoulders for a while longer and chatted idly, then finally returned to her seat half an hour later.

She took out the now cold meal, but before she could start eating, her phone rang. Picking it up, she saw it was Luo Yuanyuan.

"Tongtong, what time do you get off work? I'll come pick you up." Luo Yuanyuan's cheerful voice came through as soon as the call connected.

"Uh... Yuan'er..."

Le Tong glanced at the documents on the table she had only translated a third of and was about to explain to Luo Yuanyuan.

"Ah ah! Tongtong, don't tell me you have to work overtime again!" Luo Yuanyuan shouted frantically, probably having encountered this situation too many times, so as soon as Le Tong started to speak, she cut her off.

Le Tong coughed twice, lowering her stance and speaking gently, "Yuan'er, how about I spend the day with you another time, okay?"

"Le Tong, you're not a superhero. Your back hasn't healed yet and you still want to work overtime. Are you trying to kill yourself?" Luo Yuanyuan scolded her harshly.

Le Tong coaxed Luo Yuanyuan softly for a long while before the other ended the call indignantly.

Looking at the completely cold meal on the table, Le Tong let out a long sigh, forcing herself to gulp down the cold, hard meal quickly.

By the time work ended, unsurprisingly, she had only translated two-thirds of the documents. Surrendering to her fate, Le Tong stayed to work overtime. The cafeteria didn't serve dinner in the evening, so she could only go out and buy takeout to Ji Rui's taste. For herself, she just bought a bread roll and returned.

When she brought the meal in, Ji Rui didn't give her a hard time, not even raising his head. And as for Le Tong, she was no longer angry with him.

Le Tong let out a quiet sigh of relief, ran to the break room to make a cup of tea, and returned to her seat to munch on the bread while looking down at the unfinished documents on the table.

"Tap tap."

The desk was suddenly knocked on, and Le Tong looked up to meet Ji Rui's cold face.

Startled, Le Tong quickly stood up, "President, is the food not to your taste?"

"Come, accompany me to buy something!"
