Ji Niandong hadn't recovered her senses when the man's hand suddenly grasped her left wrist again, the heat on her face instantly dissipating, replaced with a look of fear.
She wanted to pull her hand back, but her wrist was held tightly.
"Don't be nervous!" The man quickly saw through her thoughts again, holding her with one hand but now more gently and carefully. He turned his head to open the medicine kit with his other hand. "You're scared of me, so you don't want to marry me."
He stated her innermost thoughts with certainty. Could it be that this man always knew what she was thinking deep inside?
"In the days to come, I will make you know that, for you, I should not be someone to fear!" He began applying medicine to her hand with a cotton swab, and only then did Ji Niandong let out a hiss.
