Sophie Smith didn't know if she was truly mad at Asher Land.
At first, when she found out he was the mastermind behind Wyatt Sterling's scandal, she was furious, but later, when she learned the real reason behind her mother's suicide in Southern County, it seemed she calmed some of her anger towards him.
For the past four years, she had always blamed the Golden Era Consortium for her mother's death, but the truth was, it was his father who cheated first, along with the stepmother, doing unspeakable things.
So, perhaps the reason she eased her anger towards him was because she felt a bit guilty for wrongly blaming him.
Her head rested on his broad arm, and she took a deep breath from the bottom of her heart.
"Just sleep peacefully."
He noticed her exhaustion, though he didn't know what had happened, but he hoped that when she was by his side, she could let her guard down.
Sophie nodded, and before long, he could hear her even breathing.
