Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Uncle, You Are Too Old

Opening the door to her home, after inviting Huo Jincheng and his driver inside, Lu Xingzhi immediately regretted it.

Indeed, beauty leads people astray! She didn't even know him, so why did she bring him into her house?

However, it wouldn't be appropriate to drive them out now.

"Please sit, I'll get you some water," Lu Xingzhi said, feeling a bit uneasy seeing Huo Jincheng in her house.

Neither Huo Jincheng nor his driver fit into her modest home.

"Miss Lu, there's no need for the trouble. The gentleman has his own drinking water in the car." Wei Yang, as Huo Jincheng's assistant, was familiar with his habits.

"Oh! Alright then!" Lu Xingzhi expressed understanding, feeling somewhat dismissed.

She didn't mind it, though.

"Wei Yang, you can leave first," Huo Jincheng said in a deep voice.

After Wei Yang left, Huo Jincheng looked at Lu Xingzhi, his eyes gentle, his demeanor graceful, "Then it's a bother to you."

"Hmm?" Lu Xingzhi was a bit confused.

Huo Jincheng elegantly sat on the old sofa, "I'm a bit thirsty."

Lu Xingzhi was stunned for a moment before she reacted, "I'll get you some water."

While Lu Xingzhi was making tea for Huo Jincheng, it suddenly started to pour outside; she glanced out. How come it always rains on her birthday every year?

The sun had come out at noon, which had made her happy for a while, but who knew it would rain again.

Today is her eighteenth birthday. Since her family has passed away, this is her third birthday alone.

She had just graduated from high school and, although she became the national top scorer and got accepted into Imperial University with a 100,000 yuan scholarship.

She was still planning to take a year's break from school.

She needed to buy her piano back, which was her father's legacy for her.

Her father had once said she was a born pianist.

At twelve, she had once played a tune freely.

What a pity…

When Huo Jincheng took out his token, Lu Xingzhi completely believed him.

Because she had an identical one, and on the marriage contract, there was Grandpa's personal signature.

Huo Jincheng took a sip of tea, "Let me briefly introduce myself again. I'm twenty-seven years old, have no dating history, no bad habits, and I own a company."

Lu Xingzhi: "…"

Why does it feel strangely like a matchmaking meeting?

"My grandpa received the letter three days ago. The address your grandpa sent it to was the old house. At that time, my grandpa was receiving medical treatment abroad. If it wasn't because he returned to the old house for recuperation this time, the letter wouldn't have been discovered in the mailbox. I'm sorry for coming late."

"You don't need to apologize. I only heard my grandpa mention it once. Since you are here, we might as well cancel the marriage contract directly!" Someone like Huo Jincheng is bound to belong to a world different from hers.

"What's the reason?"

Lu Xingzhi carefully found an appropriate excuse while holding a water cup in her hands, "Uncle, you're a whole nine years older than me! Three years is a generation gap, the gap between us is like a river's distance."

Uncle?

When Huo Jincheng heard this term, the corners of his mouth twitched slightly.

Although he didn't feel he was old, compared to Lu Xingzhi, he was indeed a bit older.

Calling him "Uncle" wasn't really wrong.

Only eighteen.

She was indeed a bit young.
