Chapter 22 - Two Months Prt 4

It's been two months since Eli asked to meet Alex, and I think I'm finally ready to let him. We have been seeing each other a lot. He finds time almost every day to drive down and see me. Lately, not so much. He has a lot of pack issues to deal with on top of his businesses. It is ok, though I still get to see his face before bed.

He told me he had a very important meeting today, and I responded with having a very important thing to ask him. He told me he would call me later on. I was bummed he couldn't make it out to see me again.

I am getting ready to clock out early for work when suddenly my phone rang. My heart skips a beat in my chest. The butterflies nesting in my stomach start to dance. I pull my phone out and frown. It is only Jared. He has become more annoying lately; always texting me. I ignore the call like I always do unless Alex is with him.

I clock out of work and walk to the nearest bus stop. It is going to be a while. That's how night buses are. I texted Kim to send me a picture of her and Alex. When my phone pings again, I am greeted by exactly what I asked for. In the picture, Kim uses her finger to push up her nose to look like a pig and crosses her eyes. Alex has his fingers in his mouth, hooking his cheeks to the side and showing all his little teeth. I giggle to myself and save the picture as my background, knowing it'll tick Kim off.

"Beautiful people you have in your life." I hear an unrecognizable voice.

To the left of me is a woman that I've never seen before and didn't even notice walking up. When did she get here? She has a short black pixie cut that compliments her almond skin. Just under her thin nose is a set of small round lips. What I find most remarkable about her are her light purple eyes. Her slim body is dressed in a long sleeved black bodycon dress.

"Thank you." I click my screen off.

"Don't you agree, William?" William?

"Definitely." A man's voice sucker punches me from my right, causing me to yelp.

I look over at him. He is barely taller than me, the same height as the woman. To be honest, he looks like a male version of her. Only his hair is dreaded and tied back, and he is wearing a black-on-black suit. Same almond skin, same purple eyes.

"Twins?" I accidentally ask out loud.

"Yes, but he's still the baby brother."

"And she's still the old hag." He speaks calmly.

"Watch it." She replies.

They speak in monotone and never look at me or each other. They just stare straight ahead beyond the street. It is creepy, but for some reason, I do not feel threatened by them.

"Sister, is she referring to me? "You don't belong out here."

"Sister?"

"Gosh, Pamela." William smirks. "She doesn't know."

"Not surprising." The one now known as pamela shrugs. "Look at her eyes. Her heritage has been forgotten."

"Who are you?" I finally ask.

"Your sister." Pamela answers simply.

"Your brother." William follows.

"I only have one brother."

"He's not your brother. Well, he is, but he's not like you, like us. I, william, am your true brother regardless of parentage."

"Denis is too diluted." Pamela adds while shaking her head.

"How do you know his name?"

"We know everything about our sister. For starters, you do not belong here." Pamela finally turns to me.

Nothing prepares me for what happens next or what I see rather. When her eyes meet mines, they are glowing. The violet purple glow captured me in a haze. I am unable to look away as my soul seems to be sucked into a new reality. It is like a movie. All around me, images and memories fly by. However, they aren't my memories. It is someone elses. It starts from birth, in a mother's arms, growing up, being in love, and then to death burning on a stick. Then, born again, widowed, then stoned to death. I can't catch it all. Everything moves too fast. All I see are hundreds of lives lived and hundreds of deaths, some peacful, some painful. All the emotions flood my body.

As suddenly as the visions and emotions come, they go. They end with me right here in this moment. I collapsed on the bench behind me and let out a hysterical cry. I feel that I am in the morning for the lives of those I just witnessed end.

"What was that?"

"You." Pamela kneels beside me. Her hand grabs mine as a light springs out of her fingertips, entering my body like a rush of air. It causes me to relax and my tears to stop. What are they?

"They call us a lot of things, I prefer Mage." Did she just read my mind?

"I prefer Warlock." William says, puffing up his chest.

"Anything's better than witch, really."

"Witches?" I ask breathlessly.

"I mean those human girls call each other bitches for fun now adays, so why not?" She rolls her eyes.

"And you're saying I'm a witch?"

"Mage, sorcerer, enchanter, spellcaster.... Whatever you feel like calling yourself."

"Never a Warlock though." Says William.

"I mean there's a spell for that if you want to." Pamela raises an eyebrow at me.

"I don't understand." Here in front of me are two witches telling me that I am one of them. How can that be? I feel overwhelmed. The supernatural world is invading my simple normal human life and turning it upside down. No way I am a witch and mated to a werewolf. This is impossible. I just want to be me, Samantha Green.

"Well honey you can mate whoever you want. You can also be who you want…. to an extent. Ever wondered why the wolves are ready to tear each other open just at the site of you?"

"Horny mutts after our little sister." William shakes his head.

"Can you read my mind?"

She ignores me.

"You are different from the rest of us. Sister, we have been waiting for you. You are too powerful to live a human life. Others will find you just like we did. Others will want you, just like the wolves."

"Why me?" I mumble, burying my face in my hands.

"You've lived a thousand lives before this one. Everything that you have accomplished, branded to your soul. All that magic! It's amazing really."

"Extraordinary." William adds. "Sister, the fork in the road is now. If being human is really what you want, you must choose that now."

"Mate a human." Pamela sounds displeased. "OR supernatural."

"What if I don't want to mate anyone?!" I shout, just as my phone begins to ring.

I jump up and see that it is Eli. I study my surroundings; the mage and the warlock are gone. Was it all a dream? Did I fall asleep here on the bench waiting for my bus? I must have.

"Hello?" I whisper into the phone.

"Hello, my Luna." I can hear the smile on his lips when he speaks. "How are you?"

"Fine." I force out. "How was the meeting?"

"It was ok. Now we wine and dine with our guests for the night." He chuckles.

"You must be exhausted."

"I'm fine." I can tell he is lying but I am too, so I don't push him. "What did you want to ask me?"

I hesitate for a moment. "The fork in the road is now." Echoes through my thoughts. Is this what I want? It is.

"I was wondering if you'd still like to meet Alex?"

The silence on the other end makes my palms sweaty.

"Of course!" He laughs. "I'm sorry for laughing. I'm just excited!" Again, I can hear him beaming on the other end.

"Good, this weekend?"

"I'll plan it."

We say our goodbyes and hang up. I purposely neglect to tell him about my dream. I don't know what it means, but it doesn't matter anymore. I have made my decision. Once Eli meets Alex, there will be no turning back. I will have to fully invest in the relationship. Is he ready to do the same?
