Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Doubtful reality

I meet an unexpected God out of nowhere . And after a lot of things , the god knowledge Gargian finally started his story—

"First, let's begin with the term knowledge god. It's not the name of a person but actually the name of a position. According to the rules set by the Supreme God, if there is a person more qualified than the present owner of the position, then the present owner can retire after helping that person ascend to the position of god. Sometimes gods just take disciples to turn them into future gods.

The Supreme God is the creator of this world, and He manages the world through us seven gods. Of all the present gods, I am the second-longest working in this position, because even as a god, my knowledge still increases. For a normal mortal to rival me is like a cow flying to the moon (means :literally impossible). But then, I found a jewel like you. Not only do you pass with flying colours, but you are also ready to start with just a little touch. Then I can finally retire and go on vacation.

Secondly, your death. As a mortal, death is unavoidable—you know that, right?

Anyway, as you grow hungrier for knowledge, the more empty you will feel. And to fill that emptiness, the World Tree ( Here the supreme God created a automated system named world tree that manages mana and knowledge God as moderator) will struggle in the future. If that happens, the world will fall into chaos.

So either you have to die and be reborn—in that process, you will lose your memory and your work—or you can become a god and work for eternity with your memories intact. ( but it sounds like slave- as working for eternity.)

So choose: would you like to die or ascend to Godhood?"

I was literally like, WTF!!! this guy blabbering out? Me, suddenly a God!? Otherwise, I have to say bye-bye to my ground breaking discoveries? Will it be alright to choose either of these? I wonder. Agh.....! I can't think straight—

"I will accept if you follow some conditions of mine ,like- I don't want to work on anything but my research and I don't like to be bossed around by others. Will you accept these conditions?"

"First, I don't need to accept any of your requests as a god, but since I'm feeling pity, I will."

(He just looked down upon me—god bastard! What does he think of himself?)

"And second, I am already second in the god ranks. There will be no one bossing me—or you—except the Supreme God. And for your information, I haven't even seen a glimpse of Him for at least a millennium."

(He is now floating upside down while talking.)

"And a knowledge god's only work is to gather and share knowledge, that's all. So make a contract."

He then extended his hands towards me.

With doubt and uneasiness, I took his hands. Then suddenly, a beautiful Alpona—

(A Bengali circle-based design of different shapes like flowers, animals, and birds used to decorate houses for the goddess of wealth)

—typed magic circle appeared under me. My body started glowing. I felt a little warm and relaxed. I think I floated a little too. The god was glowing too. Golden vines with pearl-like flowers wrapped around our hands.

Then he began his chanting—

"I, the god of knowledge, Gargian, will take this worthy child as my successor by the name of the Supreme God Kagami Kujo ( means: true self) . So, daughter of earth, god of nature, Gia, I request you to witness my resolve."

Some of our glowiness turned into silvery butterflies. Then they merged together, and a majestic woman formed from it—

She was super beautiful, but her elegance and warm smile made her seem really like a mother. She put her hands on ours and said,

"I will record this joyous moment in the Book of Chitrayupta so that the world will know the great chronicles of your journey."

(Author: According to the Hindu myth all deeds done by all Creation is recorded in Chitragupta's book, so I took the name from there.)

Then she again turned into butterflies and wrapped our hands like a cocoon. Some lotus bud appeared from it; it bloomed, and magic burst from it, entering into us. Finally, a mark appeared out of nowhere on both mine and his hands.

On my hand, it was a sign of a blue butterfly, and on his hand, it was just a blue circle.

"Thanks to your research, it was successful. Now I can fully support you with my real body. Hehe."

I guess normally he can't support me directly.

Ain't I a genius for my formula that can help even a god?

But he knows all, huh? Then he could be my personal search engine, hehe.

"Um, as a god of knowledge, you know everything, right? Then can you help me with this calcu—" suddenly he stopped me in the midway of my sentence with a loud scream.

"Stop! I don't know." I seriously doubt his godhood sometimes. I annoyingly said "I didn't even finish it yet!"

"I can read minds, so yeah, I know. But I'm still in the process of learning all of your research, so I don't know how to calculate the velocity of those ato particles!"

"What do you mean by that? You can't? But you are a god!"

"For being a god, I can get access to all known knowledge, and I also have the liberty to do my own research. But if there is no existing knowledge about something, then I don't have any clue about it unless I do the research myself. So being a god doesn't mean I'm the type of god you think.

For us, the Supreme God is actually God, although we have never seen Him. Maybe the god who ranks first may have seen Him, because she was the oldest goddess and nobody has replaced her yet.

Meaning, for the knowledge god, the position has changed through people, but for the first goddess—the goddess of flow, who presides over water, wind, and time—Goddess Kara, she's still the first."

"So you are just like an admin of a tower like in the mangas I've read—you are a powerful entity but still not all-knowing, huh?"

"It differs depending on how you define god. Maybe according to your explanation, I'm not, but for someone else, I am."

"Well, I don't see that much majesty in your behavior to regard you as a god. You're more like a pal now. And moreover, you're my contracted familiar of mine now."

"Just for now, okay? So, how do I look in my new form?"

Now that he said it, I actually hadn't given him much attention. At first, he was blabbering way too much.

He had become small like Shila and looked like a cute boy elf with wings—but now with boys' costumes, not a cross-dresser like before, sigh!

"So our contract is done. Now what?"

"Nothing much. Now my divine power will slowly transfer into you. The process is lengthy. It might take years or even longer depending on how your body reacts to my divine power. For that reason, I have to stay with you for a long time. After getting the permission from the Supreme God, or after registration through the systems for your entry, I will be free. Hahaha."

This dude—he should have hidden his gain in this matter if he really wants me to so him a little bit of respect!

Well, anyway—

Suddenly I heard someone calling for help in my mind... or at least, that's what I thought.

"Mr. God, can you hear—"

"Come on dude, we are now buddies, so don't use formal words. Just use my name—call me Gargian."

"Ok, Gargian, do you hear the cra—"

BANG!

I heard a very loud sound. Something or someone blasted away the fence of our house. So we rushed there without any delay. There I saw—
