Chapter 84 - Chapter 84: Budding Trainer

"If you want your Rhyhorn to become stronger too, maybe you should pay a visit to the Pokémon Breeding House."

Just as Leon was thinking about the Trainer's Handbook, Peter suddenly spoke up, catching him off guard.

"Pokémon Breeding House?" Leon asked with evident confusion in his voice. Was it a place where magical beasts were raised?

Seeing this, Peter enthusiastically explained, "The Pokémon Breeding House is a place that helps raise Pokémon—oh, I mean, magical beasts."

"As long as you purchase a service at the breeding house, your magical beast can learn the move you want. My Mightyena learned the move Pursuit thanks to the training service I bought there."

So that move was called Pursuit… Leon's thoughts stirred. From Peter's explanation, he quickly picked out the key information. It was just as he had suspected—Aven really had mastered a method for teaching that move.

What's more surprising was that the method could be purchased. That puzzled Leon. Normally, powerful techniques like this were tightly guarded secrets of major powers and families, used as foundational knowledge passed down and never shared lightly.

But this Mr. Aven was openly selling such move-training methods? Wasn't he afraid that other powers might copy or steal them?

"Can I also purchase services from the Pokémon Breeding House?" Leon hesitated before asking.

Peter immediately nodded, then added, "Though it's a bit expensive. I hesitated for a long time before finally deciding to buy it."

Hearing that, Leon actually felt relieved. If it only required money, he had some decent savings. After all, if even an ordinary villager could afford it, then so could he.

"Alright, I won't chat any longer. My Mightyena and I need to get back to training!"

"It won't be long before I challenge the Mightyena pack leader. Just thinking about it gets me excited!"

Peter stood up with a smile, and his Mightyena rose energetically, eagerly diving back into training.

'So hard work is also part of getting stronger…' Leon thought to himself, watching Peter.

After standing in place for a moment of contemplation, Leon gritted his teeth and walked toward the village, deciding to take a look at the Pokémon Breeding House Peter mentioned.

Recalling where Aven's house was located, he soon arrived outside Village Chief Mike's farm. At the entrance, he saw the Luxray belonging to the village chief.

After stating he was here to find Aven, Luxray led Leon into the farm, guiding him to where Aven currently was.

At that moment, on the farm's grassy field, Aven was training a new batch of Oddish.

Lately, due to powerful magical beasts being driven out of the Black Forest, many Oddish had wandered into human territory.

The scent from the Gloom seemed to be familiar and comforting to the Oddish, which led more and more of them to follow the scent trail to Fruitvale Village.

Eventually, under the persuasion of their new companions, these Oddish also joined the team, and the newly formed second Oddish Squad had grown to nearly a hundred members.

When Leon arrived and saw the neatly lined-up formation of Oddish on the grass, a memory flashed through his mind—the scene where two hundred Gloom simultaneously used Sleep Powder. His eyelids twitched at the thought.

Oddish were like weeds on the roadside—so numerous in the Black Forest that their numbers were overwhelming.

They required very little to survive—just land and sunlight. And every spring, Oddish scattered their seeds everywhere, allowing them to thrive all across the forest.

This was despite the fact that many other magical beasts treated them as food. Without these predators, the Oddish might have overtaken the entire Black Forest by now.

Normally, seeing so many Oddish wouldn't surprise Leon. In his mind, no matter how many there were, Oddish had no real combat power. Under the hooves of a Rhyhorn, they wouldn't stand a chance.

But Aven's Oddish were different. The presence of two hundred Gloom implied that Aven had found a method to help Oddish evolve quickly, and since they all knew Sleep Powder, it was clear they could swiftly learn combat techniques.

"I really don't want to see Aspiration City and Fruitvale Village become enemies…" Leon sighed quietly, filled with emotion.

Still, he wasn't too worried. Aspiration City was protected by the legendary lake deity, Azelf—a city said to be impossible to conquer.

"Good morning, Sir Leon."

"What brings you here to see me?" Aven greeted with a smile.

The misunderstanding between the Knight Order and Fruitvale Village had been cleared up, and recently, the knights and villagers had gotten along quite well.

It was worth noting that after recovering from his injuries, Vice-Captain Todd had already returned to Aspiration City with a small squad of knights, while the main force remained stationed in the village.

Until Vice Captain Todd returned, the knights weren't entirely free yet. They had to stay in Orange Fruit Village and weren't allowed to leave.

"I heard from Peter… Mr. Aven, that you've opened a Pokémon Breeding House," Leon said cautiously, choosing his words carefully.

He's here.

Hearing Leon mention the breeding house, a spark lit up in Aven's mind.

Keeping the knights in Fruitvale Village wasn't just about avoiding conflict—it was also a test to see if their perspectives could be changed.

From the earlier trial, it was clear these knights had already built solid emotional bonds with their Pokémon, making them excellent trainer candidates.

Now, what Aven had to do was plant the idea of becoming a Trainer into their hearts—spreading the philosophy of Trainers, helping it take root and flourish in this world.

Peter's close relationship with the knights wasn't just his own doing—it had been orchestrated by Aven.

Without Aven's approval, Peter would never have approached these still-uncertain knights so freely.

Now it seemed that Peter had played a vital role in Aven's plan to spread the Trainer philosophy, and this visiting knight, Leon, was the perfect first step.
