Chapter 11 - The Dream That Kills

There are dreams that soothe.Dreams that guide. And then...There are dreams that are warnings.

Tonight, the multiverse dreamt of fire.

The Dreaming Breaks

Somewhere between consciousness and void, in the realm of Dream, the fabric began to splinter.

Morpheus, Lord of the Dreaming, walked the shores of possibility—his helm glowing faintly, his cloak stitched with forgotten nightmares.

He felt it first as a whisper beneath his feet.

Then a scream in the sky.

Then a silence too loud to bear.

"She dreams of herself," he murmured. "And she does not know which 'her' to become."

He stepped into the void.

There, he found Hope—asleep, but her mind tearing through layers of possibility like wind through paper.

Around her swirled dreams too heavy for a mortal child:

A universe worshipping her as a goddess.

A future where she stood atop the bones of the Justice League.

One where Diana knelt before her in chains.

And another… where Sarive died saving her.

Morpheus raised his hand.

"No more."

But even he, a being of near-limitless thought-shaping power, could not still her dreaming.

Because Hope was dreaming in reverse—not from mind to world, but from world into becoming.

Sarive's Dream

Sarive awoke inside a burning sky.

He stood alone, hovering above an Earth that fractured beneath his feet. In the distance, Diana screamed his name—but she was being pulled into a rift, her hand reaching for him.

And in front of him…

Hope.

Older. Colder. Eyes like white stars.

"You chose wrong," she said.

"No. I chose you."

She raised her hand. The sky died.

Sarive fell into flame—

And woke up gasping, sweat pouring from him.

Diana was already beside him, her hand on his chest.

"You saw it too?" she asked quietly.

He nodded.

"She's dreaming the end."

The Unraveling Begins

Across the cosmos, others began to feel the fracture:

In Apokolips, Darkseid paused mid-command, his eyes narrowing.

In the depths of New Genesis, Highfather's staff cracked.

In the ruins of Asgard, Odin whispered, "The story is breaking."

Even in the silent void, where Lucifer Morningstar walked beyond creation, he looked up and smiled faintly.

"It begins."

The Scroll of Ashes

Diana returned to Themyscira's inner sanctum—the Oracle's Vault.

There, behind a wall of enchanted timeglass, lay a scroll sealed in flame:The Scroll of Ashes—a prophecy written in dying starlight, said to burn the eyes of any false reader.

She opened it.

It did not burn her.

Instead, it whispered.

A single line, etched in divine tongue:

"The girl must fall... or all thrones shall drown."

Diana lowered the scroll, eyes narrowed.

"No."

Hope Wakes in Tears

Hope opened her eyes, heart pounding.

"I saw you die," she said to Sarive.

He took her hand.

"It wasn't real."

She looked at him, then Diana.

"But what if it can be?"

Diana kneeled beside her.

"Then we fight it. Together."

Hope looked between them.

"Will you kill me if I turn into something else?"

Silence.

Then Sarive, gently:

"We won't let you turn into anything except yourself."

Hope whispered:

"Then help me figure out who that is."

Far Beyond – The Dream That Stirs

In the place outside the Dreaming, where nothing should dwell…

Something woke up.

Not a god.Not a titan.Not a demon.

But a Story That Was Erased.

And it was angry.

It had once been written to win.

Now, because of Hope… it no longer existed.

And it wanted its fate back.
