Chapter 10 - ° Wrong place at the wrong time

"It is indeed a miraculous artifact," the man uttered, his face still fixated on the crystal object for a few more moments before he turned his eyes back to the black robed man.

"But that doesn't explain why you are contacting me again. You have failed your mission, so you should be reporting back to the third prince. Why are you contacting me?" the man asked. He thought they were done with each other with their last meeting.

Even when he found out that the man had failed in the assignment, he didn't think he would be contacting him again, yet here he was standing a few paces away from him.

"You were my inside man, you should have been more cautious, I dint fail the third prince, we both did. He'll have both our heads for this failure," the man added as he stated, the white robed man, almost enraged.

It is all this man's fault that he had to face Di Tian, who almost lost his life in the encounter, only making it out alive with the help of the Beyonder artifact.

"Need I remind you that the golden order doesn't take kindly to traitors in their ranks? I'll be executed on the spot for my betrayal, plus the items have been moved, since you're little attempt," the white robbed man spat contemptuously. Since their little attempt had failed, not only had security been tightened, but they even moved it, although he was aware of the where it was, taking it would not be an easy fit or impossible.

"The third prince is finally making his move; he needs that object," the Dark Robbed man muttered, his voice though barely audible, still echoing amidst the night's deafening silence.

"If the third prince is making his move, then how exactly will that thing help him? It's not a weapon," the white robbed man asked.

In truth, no one knows what that object was, or what it is used for. However, anyone could tell it was extremely dangerous and must be kept out of the wrong hands.

"That's not why I'm here."

"The third prince... "

"Hmmm? "

The Dark robed man was about to ask a question sussenly paused mid sentence, his gaze flickered to a dilapidated building, where a figure so valiantly hid, a strange smile blossom in his face, 'hmm?' as though he had an ex ray in his eyes, his gaze tore through the fiber of woods that made up the dilapidated house, a crimson haired woman adorned in an usual clothings woven from animal animal hide came into view.

As his gaze landed on the eavesdropper, in a instant he appeared before her, "Ohh what do we have here?" the man paused, slightly amused, that someone would be eavesdropping on their conversation, with a flick of his wrist he gripped the woman by the throat, effortlessly lifting her to the air, inadvertently choking the life out of her.

"A spy?" the white robbed man also appeared, apparently surprised, he observed the so called spy, a woman appearing to be on her mid twenties, 'Red hair and eyes, how unusual for a mortal?' he mused, apart from the unusual color of hair and eyes on, he could sense something else, but he said nothing about it. The dark-robed man may have also noticed it, too.

....

Fei Yue found herself held by the throat before she could even process what was happening, and before she knew it, the life was gradually fading from her eyes.

The man tightened his grip around her neck, and a burning sensation pulsed through her lungs as she struggled to take in that sweet oxygen, but her windpipe remained blocked.

"I can feel an incredibly amount of hatred sizzling out of you, all of which is directed at me" the man said as his sadistic devils black eyes pulse with madness, "And yet, I do not recall ever meeting you before, what did I ever do you hmm?" the mad spat, his firm grip never left her throat, if anything, he kept adding more and more force, causing gentle popping sound to ring out.

Fei Yue didn't even know if she would cry, of course he doesn't remember how could he, he was a strong and lofty adept and her family were nothing in his eyes. enraged, she gathered what remained of her strength, a boiling hot liquid welled up in her mouth,

puhh!!

She spat in his eyes, a final act of defiance, as the light gradually faded from her eyes.

The worm nectar gently rolled down his eyes, and the man gently cleared it off with his other hand.

"I commend you for your bravery. So much hatred I can almost taste it, perhaps it was someone I killed in the past, family of yours no doubt," as the man spoke, he paused a bit before he continued.

"I've killed more than I care to count, such is the way of power."

"Ohh, crying already?" With his remaining hand, he gently brushed off the tears streaming down her cheeks while clearing the locks of hair sticking to her face.

"Just kill her and be done with it" The white robbed man muttered. Patience was wearing thin; this was supposed to be a secret meeting. He wouldn't even bother to ask why the woman was following them.

A lot has been said in the past few minutes, but this woman couldn't be allowed to walk out of here alive. If she were to share information with the order, the result would prove catastrophic.

Although the order and the Evergale Dynasty didn't have the most forthright alliances, they had been coexisting for decades without war, and both parties would like to keep it that way.

But the third prince of the Evergale Dynasty interfering with order business would be treated as an act of transgression, and he would be caught in the middle, so the woman must die, she could only blame herself for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Although he didn't know exactly how long the woman had been standing there, he was unwilling to take that chance.

He was not like the dark-robed man who relied on souls for his path, and hens would often result in taking innocent lives, but he prioritized his safety above others.

"I have an even better idea," the Dark Robbed man said with an evil smirk.

"I think killing you would be too light a punishment."

"Aimlessness," The Dark Robbed adept muttered, his face warping into a wide smile.

Even the man in white was shocked, 'he can't be thinking?' he couldn't help but shake his head, that was a fate considered worse than death. He couldn't help but feel pity for the woman, but he made no effort to stop it. Such was the fate of ordinary people; if anything, he was again reminded of reality's cruelties.

"You shall wander the world, never knowing where or what you are," said the man, suddenly releasing his grip enough for Fei Yue to breathe.

But before she could savor the rush of fresh air rushing into her her lung, the man rudely pointed his finger at her head and a beam of azure colored light pirce through her skill, the light traveled into her sub conscious wrecking havok, her once bright red eyes gradually deemed out, as though she like a dieing firefly, like shattered glass her mind was fractured and fragmented into piceses.

Fei Yue suddenly heard a crackling sound.

Not from her ear, but from her soul, she then released a painful scream that revibrated through the night, rousing every pedestrian from their sleep.

Like a mirror, cracks began to appear in her soul, spreading in various directions. Then, a mysterious crimson light tried to mold it back to its place, but the azure light proved too overbearing.

Both men disappeared instantly, leaving Fei Yue lying on the cold floor, a gentle gasp occasionally escaped her form, before she passed out.
