Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: The Calm Before the Storm (Fixed)

It's been four months and a few days since I left Sabaody by boat.

I've gotten used to this life on the open sea and traveling from one place to another.

...

Well, I lied.

No one could get used to being treated like a god, to being asked to help clean the bathrooms or maintain the pipes.

Maybe I asked for it, so I can't stay. At least, not for long.

But thanks to Sarmonei's crew, I was able to gradually adapt, as they all treat me well.

At first, everyone thought I was some kind of warrior or something like that. But when they learned I was a writer, they asked me almost every day to tell them stories, morning, afternoon, and night.

You could say I became a bard or poet even before I became a hero.

Well, you have to start somewhere.

Every three nights, there's a feast, and celebrations continue until the wee hours.

Food, feasting, and women. I'm still a virgin, but I think one of the women on the ship is giving me the fuck-me look.

I can't blame her. With this face and body, it's impossible for me to resist any woman.

Junked and sexually frustrated married MILFs, here I come.

On another note, since I left on the ship, we've only encountered two pirate ships; it's worth noting that we kicked their butts.

Whenever we stopped to rest, buy, or sell on the smaller islands, I always dedicated myself to training.

I had to pull off the flying energy slash as soon as possible.

The reason I haven't managed it so far is because of my real-life logic. I can't imagine pulling off a flying energy slash out of thin air. Well, from the blade of my sword.

The training in the six naval styles was well explained, and the logic behind how all this was achieved was explained.

It didn't really make sense to me, but it didn't come out of nowhere.

At the end of two months of training, I succeeded.

I was able to perform the flying energy slash that comes out of nowhere.

It felt like I was trying to burp.

I knew it was there inside me; I couldn't see it, but if I made the effort, I could get it out.

Thanks to that, I managed to get 100,000 more LP points.

And with this, I was able to buy the Body Cultivation Pill.

I waited until the ship was on an island for a few days; I told them it would be a very demanding training, and I hid near a river.

I knew from those Chinese stories that these things draw impurities out of the body, so when I eat it, I'll be really smelly afterward and all that.

So, to avoid being the smelly one on the ship, I decided to do it this way.

When I ate the pill—I had no idea what the difference was—my whole body started to hurt, from my brain to the points on my feet.

At that moment, I despaired.

And when I woke up, it was all dark; thank goodness I was hiding a bit, or maybe a monster could have eaten me.

I took a shower because, guess what, I was all dirty and smelly.

When I got out of the shower, I looked at myself, and if I was perfect before, now I was three times as perfect.

I checked my strength, and I had tripled or quadrupled my strength, stamina, and speed.

Afterward, I returned to town, and it turned out I had only been gone for a full day at most.

Afterward, I started looking at the Devil Fruit catalog.

I told myself there were only two Devil Fruits I would eat, just one of those two, and nothing else.

That was Whitebeard's gura gura no mi and a guy's moa moa no mi from Impel Down.

The Whitebeard thing is obvious, but I don't think I have a chance of getting it.

The other fruit gives the ability to increase or multiply something on an item.

Very broken, in my opinion. It's one of the good fruits that's misused.

There's also another exception, and that would be the hero hero no mi, but sadly it doesn't exist.

I already checked it in the store, and it's not there.

It's possible to buy those two fruits, but for now, it's not possible since the users are still alive.

Looking around, I also found a potion that neutralizes Devil Fruit weaknesses, but I can only buy it when I leave this world.

I see that it forces me to play the game by this world's rules. Nothing too fancy.

As we traveled, I was also able to develop other skills, such as cooking and weapon creation. This also gave me enough PL to compare a manual of different fighting styles with different sword styles.

And for the rest of the time, I've been practicing some of these styles. My idea is to learn a few and then put some ideas together and develop my own. That's all that happened. Everyone was happy and content.

Suddenly, a storm hit. The waves were moving, and the ship was rolling from side to side. Everyone was helping to keep objects from falling into the sea. I couldn't help but feel something bad was approaching.

Someone out of nowhere shouted, "A ship is approaching."

Some went to look; I was among them. A very large and luxurious ship was coming. I opened my eyes when I saw them take out their cannons and fire.

Everything turned into chaos. The cannon shots from that ship were more destructive than any ordinary ship. It just so happened that the ship was flying the flag of the World Government. At that moment, my blood ran cold.

I heard screams all around. Some tried to respond to the attack with another, but they repelled the attempt very easily.

I was at a loss for what to do, and just as I was about to help my companions, I saw him. Standing at the front of the ship, wearing armor and a sword, and with a posture that commanded presence.

I recognized him immediately. I saw him raise his sword.

He launched an attack of black energy. I saw the ship being destroyed, people falling dead, and pieces of wood flying from one side to the other. The moment he fell into the sea.

I fainted.
