Chapter 13 :The Boy with A weird Gun!

The air crackled with tension as Groteus unleashed its fiery breath, a torrent of flames that surged forth like a raging inferno. The heat was palpable, and Elian felt the intensity of the flames even from a distance.

"Aerthys, now!" the emperor commanded, and the dragon responded with a powerful flap of its wings, creating a barrier of shimmering blue energy that enveloped Elian and his family.

The flames collided with the barrier, and for a moment, it seemed as if the very fabric of reality would tear apart. The roar of the flames was deafening, and the ground shook beneath them. But Aerthys held firm, its scales glowing brighter as it absorbed the energy of the attack.

Elian watched in awe as the blue barrier shimmered and pulsed, absorbing the flames and transforming them into a radiant light that illuminated the battlefield. The heat dissipated, and the air cooled as the flames were contained.

"Now, strike!" the emperor shouted, and the moment the barrier flickered, Edric and Lirien charged forward, their weapons ready.

As Edric and Lirien charged, their movements were swift and synchronized, a testament to their training and partnership. Edric's sword flashed in the light of the dying flames, its blade inscribed with ancient runes that pulsed with a soft blue glow. Lirien's daggers seemed to dance in the air, their edges sharp enough to slice through the shadows themselves.

Groteus, still recovering from its fiery assault, stumbled backward as Edric and Lirien closed in. The beast's scales were scorched and blackened, its eyes narrowed in pain and anger. The emperor watched with a calculating gaze, his eyes darting between the battle and the horizon, searching for any sign of additional threats.

Aerthys, sensing the momentary lull, adjusted its stance, its wings spread wide to maintain the protective barrier around Elian and his family. The dragon's eyes never left Groteus, its gaze fixed intently on the enemy as it prepared to unleash its own assault.

Edric and Lirien moved in perfect harmony, their strikes landing with precision as they targeted Groteus's weakened scales. The beast roared in response, its claws swiping wildly as it tried to fend off the attackers. But Edric and Lirien were relentless, their movements fluid and deadly.

"FOR THE EMPIRE! FOR OUR FUTURE!" the emperor thundered, his voice echoing across the battlefield like a clarion call to arms. "We will not falter! We will not fall! We will rise, united and strong, and we will crush this beast beneath our feet!"

With a fierce battle cry, the emperor charged forward, his four royal knights by his side. Their armor shone like gold in the fading light, their swords held high as they plunged into the fray.

"Knights, use your Kigen at the maximum!" the emperor commanded, his voice carrying above the din of battle. "Magic users, give us your body enhancement! We need every ounce of strength we can muster!"

The knights nodded, their eyes flashing with determination as they unleashed their Kigen, a surge of energy coursing through their bodies. The magic users quickly cast their spells, enhancing the knights' physical abilities and granting them increased strength and speed.

"Edric, my old friend!" the emperor called out, his voice filled with camaraderie and trust. "Please support me till the end! Together, we'll bring down this beast and secure our empire's future!"

Edric's face set in a fierce grin as he charged forward, his sword flashing in the dim light. "I'll be right behind you, Your Majesty! We'll take down Groteus together, or die trying!"

The emperor smiled grimly, his eyes locked on the beast. "We'll do more than try, Edric. We'll triumph."

With renewed ferocity, the emperor and his knights plunged into the heart of the battle, their movements a blur of steel and magic. Groteus roared in response, its claws swiping wildly as it tried to fend off the attackers. But the emperor's plan was unfolding perfectly, and the beast was about to face its greatest challenge yet.

As the emperor and his knights closed in, Groteus unleashed a mighty roar and raised its head to the sky. The air seemed to vibrate with anticipation, and then, in a burst of fury, the beast unleashed its violet fire breath.

The flames erupted like a volcanic explosion, bathing the battlefield in an intense, pulsating light. The heat was so intense that it seemed to warp the very air itself, creating ripples of distortion that made it hard to see.

"Aerthys, shield us!" the emperor shouted, his voice barely audible above the cacophony of flames and screams.

The dragon responded instantly, its wings beating rapidly as it generated a powerful barrier of blue energy. The shield shimmered and pulsed, absorbing the violet flames and protecting the emperor and his knights.

But even Aerthys's shield wasn't enough to completely neutralize the attack. The violet flames seared the air, casting a purplish glow over the battlefield. Edric and Lirien stumbled back, their faces scorched and their lungs burning from the intense heat.

The emperor's knights charged forward, their Kigen-enhanced strength propelling them toward Groteus. Their swords flashed in the violet light, striking true and biting deep into the beast's scales.

Groteus howled in pain and rage, its body thrashing wildly as it tried to shake off the attackers. The ground shook beneath their feet, and the air was filled with the acrid smell of smoke and char.

Groteus let out a deafening roar, and the ground trembled beneath their feet. The sound echoed through the landscape, and suddenly, the air was filled with the thunderous stomping of massive feet.

From the surrounding hills and valleys, a sea of A-class monster beasts emerged, their eyes glowing with feral intensity. Thousands of them, each one a formidable foe, surrounded the emperor and his knights.

The beasts, ranging from giant spiders to gargantuan wolves, closed in, their jaws snapping and claws extended. The emperor's knights formed a tight circle, their swords and shields at the ready.

"Aerthys, we need your help now more than ever!" the emperor shouted, his voice strained with concern.

The dragon roared in response, its wings beating fiercely as it prepared to face the incoming horde. Edric and Lirien stood back-to-back, their weapons trembling with anticipation.

"We're surrounded," Edric muttered, his eyes scanning the horizon. "This might be it for us."

The emperor's face set in determination. "We'll fight to the end. For the empire, for our people, we will not falter!"

The emperor stood back-to-back with Grand Duke Edric, his wife Grand Duchess Lirien, and the Crown Prince, his son, alongside Elian, Grand Duke Edric's son. Surrounding them were the four royal knights and Grand Duke Edric's loyal knights, forming a protective barrier against the sea of monsters.

The air was thick with tension as thousands of A-class monsters, some even S-class, encircled them. The beasts' eyes glowed with feral intensity, their jaws snapping and claws extended.

"Uhm... How long is your army gonna take to come here? We're outnumbered, friend," Grand Duke Edric asked the emperor, his voice laced with concern.

The emperor's response was calm and resolute. "I'm 30 minutes early from them, so I think about 20 minutes. That's how long we need to hold the line, friend. Are you with me?"

Grand Duke Edric's face set in determination. "I'm always with you, since we're kids."

As if sensing their resolve, the monsters charged forward in a simultaneous attack. Groteus, the giant monster, unleashed its fury, and the walls of Greybrook crumbled under the assault. The monsters flooded the streets, and the battle spilled into the town.

Elian dashed towards Groteus, determined to stop it from unleashing its fire breath again. However, the beast was too quick, and its tail flung Elian across the battlefield. The young noble crashed to the ground, dazed and disoriented.

Groteus pointed its snout at Elian, its jaws open wide, ready to unleash a blast of dragon's breath at point-blank range. Grand Duke Edric was about to jump to save his son when suddenly, a blur of movement appeared out of nowhere.

A massive fist burst forth, connecting with Groteus's jaw and sending its head snapping backward. The force of the punch was so immense that it caused Groteus's own fire breath to ignite its own head from the inside out. The beast's skull exploded in a shower of blood and flames, its body crumpling to the ground.

The battlefield fell silent, with all eyes fixed on the mysterious figure who had saved Elian's life. The figure stood tall, its presence radiating an aura of power and authority. The emperor's eyes narrowed, unsure of what to make of this newcomer.

As the dust settled, the figure turned towards the emperor and his companions, its gaze piercing and intense. For a moment, time seemed to freeze, and the outcome of the battle hung in the balance.

The silence was broken by the sound of armor creaking and the distant rumble of the emperor's army approaching. The battle was far from over, but with this new ally, the tide might just turn in their favor.

The mysterious figure turned out to be a young boy, his stretcher and overall appearance giving away his age. The emperor's eyes widened in surprise as the boy turned around, a big smile spreading across his face.

"Roah?" the Elian asked, his voice filled with excitement.

The emperor's expression changed from surprise to shock as he stared at the boy. "Rolien?" he replied, a smile breaking out on his face.

Rolien, beamed with joy, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Hey, big brother! Long time no see!" he exclaimed, his voice filled with enthusiasm.

Elian eys widen in disbelief seeing his little brother here in the battlefield saving his ass looked like he'd seen a ghost. His eyes searched Rolien's face, as if trying to reconcile the young boy he remembered with the powerful warrior who had just saved his life. "How'd you do that kid?" Elian asked. And that's when he noticed rolian is wearing an armor that almost cover his entire body. And he sense a large amount of mana from it.

Grand Duke Edric and the others watched the exchange with confusion, unsure what to make of the sudden reunion. The battle around them seemed to fade into the background as the emperor and Rolien shared a moment that seemed to belong to them alone.

"Rolien...what are you doing here?" the emperor asked, his voice filled with a mix of surprise and curiosity.

But before Rolien could respond, the sound of clashing steel and the roar of monsters brought them back to reality. The battle was far from over, and the emperor's army was still minutes away.

Grand Duke Edric and his wife, Lady Lirien, rushed towards Rolien, scooping him up into a tight hug. "You little brat, we told you not to participate," Grand Duke Edric said, his voice filled with relief and concern. "Why do you still come? And why are you wearing this armor?"

Rolien smiled sheepishly, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Well, long story short, the villa got attacked by these monsters, so we came out. And don't worry, big sis and Lyra are safe there with Sir Marcellus right now."

Just as they were about to continue their reunion, the emperor approached them, his expression serious. "I'd love to watch your heartwarming reunion, but there's more things we have to be concerned with."

He pointed towards Groteus, which was slowly regaining its consciousness despite its head exploding from its own attack. The beast's body was already starting to heal, its massive frame twitching with renewed life.

Rolien's eyes lit up with determination. "Well, heat, big brother, how about you guys attack while I search for its weakness?"

The emperor, Grand Duke Edric, and the others nodded in agreement. However, Lady Lirien was about to object when Grand Duke Edric stopped her and asked, "What's the plan, son?"

Rolien's face set in determination. "You guys will handle the diversion to not pay attention to me so I could concentrate on finding its weak point."

The group nodded, and the emperor assigned one of his royal knights to guard and defend Elian while the others were fighting Groteus. As they moved into position, the emperor shouted to his son, the Crown Prince.

"Go guard our last hope!"

"Yes, father!" the Crown Prince replied, dashing off towards his assigned position.

With their plan in place, the group charged forward, ready to face the monstrous Groteus once again. Rolien, meanwhile, focused on finding the beast's weakness, his eyes scanning its massive body for any sign of vulnerability.

As Rolien jumped up to a nearby tower, he lay down and began to assemble his Air Gun 2.0. The Crown Prince watched in amazement, his eyes wide with wonder.

"Such an 8-year-old is capable of making a Behemoth fall to its feet and making things like this," the Crown Prince murmured to himself. "I've heard he makes more bizarre and weird things at home. I want to get close to him. But right now, I'll focus on protecting our new crown jewels."

He turned to Sir Gallant, one of his guards. "Alright, Sir Gallant, don't let any mana beast pass us, okay?! We must protect that kid!"

Sir Gallant nodded resolutely. "Right, Your Highness!"

The Crown Prince's eyes remained fixed on Rolien, who was now focusing on his Air Gun 2.0. "I have a feeling that kid is going to change everything," he whispered to himself.

Rolien lay prone on the tower's rooftop, his Air Gun 2.0 assembled and at the ready. He peered through the scope, scanning the surrounding area with a practiced gaze. The scope's advanced optics and sensors provided a crystal-clear view of the battlefield, highlighting the positions and movements of both friend and foe.

As he swept the scope across the landscape, Rolien's eyes widened as he took in the sheer scale of the monster horde. Thousands of beasts, ranging from towering giants to swift, wolf-like creatures, swarmed the streets and buildings. The Groteus, still recovering from its earlier explosion, loomed in the distance, its massive body a testament to the devastating power that Rolien had unleashed.

The scope's thermal imaging feature highlighted the heat signatures of the monsters, allowing Rolien to track their movements and patterns. He noted the positions of the emperor's army, Grand Duke Edric's knights, and the other allies as they clashed with the monsters.

With his Air Gun 2.0 at the ready, Rolien began to analyze the battlefield, searching for any weaknesses or patterns that he could exploit. His eyes narrowed as he focused on the Groteus, his mind racing with strategies and calculations.

The Crown Prince watched Rolien with fascination, amazed by the young boy's composure and focus amidst the chaos. "He's so calm and collected," the Crown Prince thought to himself. "I wonder what other secrets he holds."

Rolien's eyes were fixed on the scope as he scanned the giant Groteus, muttering to himself. "Man, this guy is for the final boss battle. Why is this thing doing here? I've read about this guy in a book back then. To see it too personally is making my skin crawl. Saying that gives me goosebumps."

As he analyzed the beast's structure, he continued, "As I can see, he's a fusion of Godzilla, armored Titan, and Jaw Titan. Tsk, what a great choice of creation, damnit."

After a moment of intense focus, Rolien's expression changed to one of determination. "And for its weakness, I think...if what is in the book is right, its weakness is...Found, yeah!"

He looked at the giant beast's chest, where a small gem was visible beneath its armored scales. From his position, he had a clear view of the gem, and a plan began to form in his mind.

But before he could act, the Groteus's head suddenly turned towards him, its eyes locking onto Rolien's position. "Oh, shoot! It's saw me. Guys, let's move!" he shouted, jumping to another pillar to hide.

The Groteus unleashed a blast of fire breath, but this time, it was a smaller, more controlled burst, like a small fireball. Rolien watched as the fireball exploded harmlessly against the ground, a short distance from his new hiding spot.

"Man, it is a boss battle!" Rolien exclaimed, his eyes shining with excitement and a hint of fear. He knew he had to act fast if he wanted to take down the Groteus and save the city.

As Rolien hid behind the pillar, he peeked out to see the Groteus's eyes fixed intently on him. The beast took a step closer, its massive body towering over the surrounding buildings. Rolien knew he had to act fast.

With a deep breath, he raised his Air Gun 2.0, taking aim at the gemstone in the Groteus's chest. He squeezed the trigger, and a high-velocity projectile shot out, flying straight towards the gemstone.

Time seemed to slow down as the projectile hurtled towards its target. The Groteus, sensing the incoming attack, swung its massive claws towards Rolien, trying to swat him away like an insect.

The projectile hit the gemstone with a loud crack, and for a moment, nothing seemed to happen. Then, a blinding flash of light enveloped the Groteus's body, and a deafening roar shook the very foundations of the city.

As the light faded, Rolien's eyes widened in shock. The Groteus's body began to glow with an intense, pulsating energy. The beast's eyes fixed on Rolien, and it took a step closer, its massive jaws open wide...

And then, everything went white.

When the light faded, Rolien found himself hurtling through the air, his Air Gun 2.0 slipping from his grasp. He landed hard on the ground, dazed and disoriented.

As he struggled to sit up, he saw the Groteus looming over him, its body still glowing with energy. But something was wrong. The beast's eyes seemed to be... changing. Its body was... shifting.

And then, a voice whispered in Rolien's ear, "You shouldn't have done that, kid..."

Everything went black.
