After Yun Yun finished explaining some matters regarding the inner sect competition, she left the courtyard with Nalan Yanran, their figures gradually disappearing into the distance.
"There's still a long way to go!" Gu He sighed as he watched Yun Yun's graceful figure depart. Shaking his head, he turned and headed back to his room.
Just as he was about to begin his cultivation, he heard light footsteps approaching from outside.
"Teacher!" The voice of the Little Fairy Doctor called out softly from beyond the door.
What could she want this time? A flicker of curiosity crossed Gu He's mind. "Come in," he said casually.
"Creak!"
The door opened, and the Little Fairy Doctor stepped inside, her expression hesitant.
"Teacher..." she began, standing before Gu He, her words trailing off as if she were struggling to speak.
"If you have something to say, just say it," Gu He encouraged gently, noticing the hesitation in her eyes.
"Teacher, I wishes to awaken the Woeful Poison Body," the Little Fairy Doctor finally declared, her voice firm as she met Gu He's gaze.
"You've made up your mind?" Gu He's eyes widened slightly in surprise, his tone turning serious. "Once the Woeful Poison Body is awakened, there's no turning back."
Although Gu He had initially taken the Little Fairy Doctor as his disciple because of her Woeful Poison Body, he felt no joy at her decision.
Awakening the Woeful Poison Body would bind her to poison, making her crave it like an addiction.
The stronger the poison, the more irresistible it would become to her. For those with the Woeful Poison Body, poison was like a moth drawn to a flame—a dangerous allure that could not be resisted. Moreover, the process of consuming poison would bring immense pain and suffering.
As he looked at the clever and obedient Little Fairy Doctor before him, Gu He couldn't help but feel a pang of reluctance. He didn't want her to endure such torment.
"I have already made up my mind," the Little Fairy Doctor replied without hesitation.
Her decision had been made after careful consideration, and it was Gu He's heartfelt words earlier that day that had solidified her determination. She wanted to awaken the Woeful Poison Body so that she wouldn't disappoint her teacher.
"Since you've made your decision, then follow your heart," Gu He said, seeing the determination in her eyes. He reached into his spatial ring and pulled out a stalk of purple medicinal herb.
"This is a second-tier medicinal herb, the Purple Heart Orchid. It can be used for healing, but it also carries significant toxicity. You can use this to awaken the Woeful Poison Body," he explained, handing the herb to her.
The only requirement for awakening the Woeful Poison Body was to willingly consume poison.
The Little Fairy Doctor extended her delicate hand and solemnly accepted the Purple Heart Orchid. In her heart, she vowed, 'Teacher, this disciple will not let you down.'
"Teacher, I will take my leave now," she said softly, holding the herb as she slowly exited the room, gently closing the door behind her.
Once she was gone, the room fell into silence.
Gu He sat cross-legged on his bed, closing his eyes and releasing a wisp of soul power to monitor the Little Fairy Doctor's room.
Although her Woeful Poison Body should protect her from harm when consuming poison, he couldn't help but feel a lingering worry.
…
After returning to her room, the Little Fairy Doctor sat on her bed, gazing at the Purple Heart Orchid in her hand. A flicker of determination shone in her eyes.
Without hesitation, she brought the herb to her lips and began to chew it carefully. The bitter juice filled her mouth, and she swallowed it down, her heart steady despite the impending ordeal.
Like a prisoner awaiting execution, she closed her eyes tightly, bracing herself for the pain to come.
The effects of the Purple Heart Orchid were slow to manifest. After half an incense stick's time, she finally began to feel discomfort. A sharp, stabbing pain rose from her stomach.
"Ugh..." Clutching her abdomen, the Little Fairy Doctor couldn't suppress a groan of pain.
As the toxin fully took hold, the pain intensified, turning her pretty face pale. Her petite body curled up involuntarily as she collapsed onto the bed.
Unbeknownst to her, as she writhed in agony, a seven-colored light began to glow from a hidden mark on her lower abdomen, radiating an eerie, enchanting brilliance.
At the same time, wisps of black mist seeped from her body, filling the room with a toxic aura.
An hour later, the pain gradually subsided, but the Little Fairy Doctor was completely exhausted, lying unconscious on the bed. The room was silent, save for the faintly drifting black mist.
"Creak!"
The door opened, and Gu He stepped inside.
A slight draft from the door caused some of the black mist to drift toward him. Sensing the potent toxicity, he frowned and summoned a purple flame in his hand, incinerating the approaching toxins.
He approached the bed, looking down at the Little Fairy Doctor's unconscious form. Her brows were furrowed even in sleep, and he sighed softly. Gently, he pulled up the quilt and covered her.
After ensuring she was comfortable, he glanced at her one last time before quietly leaving the room.
The next morning, the Little Fairy Doctor's eyelids fluttered open as she slowly woke. The confusion in her eyes quickly cleared as she remembered the events of the previous day.
Sitting up, she noticed the quilt covering her and immediately thought of Gu He. A mist of gratitude filled her crystal-clear eyes.
"It seems Teacher came to check on me after I passed out," she murmured, touched by his care.
She then focused inward, sensing her body's condition, and a satisfied smile spread across her face.
"Three-Star Dou Practitioner!"
After consuming the Purple Heart Orchid, she had broken through two small realms. As expected, every time the Woeful Poison Body consumed poison, her strength would increase significantly.
As she got up, she noticed the faint black mist still floating in the room. Her expression shifted slightly.
This black mist had escaped from her body and was highly toxic. If inhaled, it could be dangerous!
Suddenly, she remembered the poison-condensing pill technique her teacher had taught her.
