He asked, "Is it Bonnie?"
The person on the other end, hearing the tension and danger in Derek Lee's voice, quickly replied, "I haven't confirmed that yet. Not entirely sure."
Derek's voice dropped a few degrees. "Keep investigating."
"Yes, sir."
He hung up.
Inside, the room was brightly lit. The white fluorescent lights cast a stark glow over Derek's face, sharpening his already cold features.
His long lashes hung low. Beneath the high bridge of his nose were gracefully shaped, thin lips and a slightly clenched jawline, each detail sculpted into a smooth, flawless line.
When he and Bonnie had fought, it had been right after he took over the company, an incredibly busy period. He remembered clearly how often she got upset during that time, picking fights, misunderstanding his relationship with other women. Sometimes he explained, but she wouldn't listen, and that frustrated him too.
