Chapter 99 - Chapter 99: The Ripper Arm

This was no ordinary arm.

Roy tied up his hair and leaned in for a closer look, finally realizing what it was.

"Another artifact from Chalkland!

This guy must be blessed by fate to have stumbled upon something like this."

A slight doubt then arose in his mind.

Unlike the pale, demonized organs he had seen before, this arm was a deep indigo, grotesquely muscular and demonic in appearance.

It likely originated from some kind of Wizard Beast or combat golem, with bulging muscles, long sharp nails, and three claw-like blades resembling daggers.

The [Eye of Hermes] activated, emitting a faint green glow, indicating its value as a first-tier magical equipment.

"So, it's an arm of the Abyssal Ripper, but not a native creature of the abyss—it's a product of alchemical witchcraft!"

This was a creation from the realm of Wizard Beasts.

Now wasn't the time for a detailed examination, so Roy stored it away and turned his attention to the dying Canilla.

Seeing Pimier's gruesome state, Canilla trembled in fear, pleading desperately, "Lord Roy, spare me!

I was forced into this, it was all Koqiade's idea. I was just momentarily blinded…"

Roy watched as snot and tears streamed down the man's face and said, "Stop pretending to be pitiful. I still have questions for you."

Canilla jolted and looked up.

"Lord Roy, please ask."

Roy said, "Aside from those who directly attacked me, were there any other conspirators behind this assassination attempt?"

"Conspirators…" Canilla hesitated.

"Don't think I can't tell. You all prepared meticulously. Two or three people couldn't have pulled this off alone. There must still be accomplices in the Tower!"

"Yes… there are some who aren't fully loyal to you," Canilla admitted after a pause.

As expected, the transition of power between the old and new generations often led to complications.

Sophia and the others had left and hadn't intended to set him up, but the old apprentices might not be willing to follow his orders.

Perhaps they saw this as their chance to rise and refused to submit to a new elite like him.

Roy didn't let Canilla see his emotions and asked indifferently, "What about the intel on the Sacred Lake Crystal?"

"It's real. We discussed it and thought it would be the perfect bait to lure you in…"

"How many people in the Tower were involved in this?"

"Tracking, providing leads, organizing connections… over ten people. I can give you all their names!"

After a series of questions, Roy obtained the information he needed.

At that moment, Celine returned.

Seeing the situation from afar, she was startled and hurried over. "What happened?"

Roy briefly explained the events, and to Celine's surprise, he tied up his hair and casually stabbed Canilla to death on the spot.

Celine exclaimed, "Why did you kill him? You could've kept him for ransom or made him a subordinate."

"He was severely injured. I was just putting him out of his misery."

Ransom again.

Roy was somewhat speechless at her suggestion.

But he gradually realized that there might indeed be some cultural misunderstanding at play here.

However, he had his own way of doing things and didn't feel like arguing with Celine.

So he avoided the topic and simply asked, "What about the person you were chasing?"

"He escaped. That person seems to have some special abilities. He disappeared quickly after diving into the forest," Celine said with a hint of confusion on her face.

"His name is Ivent. He's a newly promoted intermediate apprentice with the bloodline of a wood elf," Roy explained, recalling Canilla's instructions.

"A wood elf?" Celine was surprised.

Roy continued, "Wizards have always been trying to improve the bloodlines of the local people. The Old Continent's secular world is also an experimental zone, managed by their descendants, the Bloodline Nobles.

You might have vaguely heard about some experimental zones on the Old Continent.

His bloodline might have originated from one of those zones."

Celine nodded, "Indeed, back then, I didn't want to return, not just because I had no home, but also because I was afraid of being captured as experimental material.

However, that involves the mysteries of natural-born sorcerers. Bloodline Wizards dare not be too aggressive on the mainland, so many Forbidden Experiments can only be conducted outside.

That's how Chalkland came to be..."

Such things could potentially contaminate the human race and are considered high-risk experiments.

The measures taken on the mainland are very conservative; this can't be done, that can't be done.

Therefore, Wizards who have already ventured into the Star Sea also dislike returning to guard the Towers, often staying in external colonies or Box Garden Worlds like Chalkland.

Roy said, "Let's not worry about that for now. We'll deal with it when we have the chance.

He's just an intermediate apprentice, not much of a threat."

After discussing for a while, Roy spoke to Celine, then, to her surprise, tried dripping the Blackening Potion on the corpses.

As a result, not only were the bodies destroyed, but some mana was also extracted.

This corpse water could be used like Mana Mud to refine Magic Stones.

But Roy looked at it and shook his head in disappointment, "The energy loss is severe; not much can be refined."

The three were extremely poor and didn't have Spatial Rings for storage, but they did have a few Enchanted Items worth several thousand.

However, Roy wasn't interested in ordinary Enchanted Items.

As for the exquisite ones, Pimier and the others couldn't afford them, making them somewhat useless.

In the end, the most valuable item was the disemboweled demon arm.

This wasn't a real demon arm.

To prevent the invasion of the Abyss, the Wizard World's stronghold, Vizel, does not allow the presence of true Abyssal or Infernal creatures.

The World's Will, like a deity overseeing the land, cannot be deceived by ordinary Wizards.

However, modifications leaning towards the field of Alchemical Lifeforms are not prohibited.

Roy pondered its possible uses and looked at Celine, "How about transplanting it to you?"

Celine: "..."

Roy said, "Forget it, I'll think about it some more."

In principle, followers have no right to refuse their master's arrangements.

But his relationship with Celine wasn't that rigid, and he didn't want to treat her as a mere combat tool.

This matter needed careful assessment of risks and benefits, and serious consideration.

Seeing this, Celine was slightly surprised but also secretly relieved.

The arm was ugly and terrifying, and she could hardly imagine what it would look like transplanted onto her own arm.

Just thinking about it made her feel nauseous!

...

Some time later, under the lake.

Bubbles of water rose from below.

Roy emerged from within, holding a delicate vial containing the Sacred Lake Crystal.

"Finally, we've gathered everything. Let's head back!"

He called out to Celine and immediately returned to the Wizard Tower to begin the refining process.

The specific refining method had already been determined. First, the main material was process

ed through dissolution, filtration, and distillation to extract a trace of its spiritual essence. Then, a symbol of Mana was added.

This step could be achieved using various Elemental Gems or relatively pure Magic Stones.
