Continuing Bisky and Habiki's past...
Dawn arrived the next day, and Habiki was eagerly making her way to their study hall.
"Huh huh huh" heavy breaths.
She hasn't been exercising much since her sister died.
But she was pushing herself, because she was excited to meet Bisky again.
"I need to speak to her more, I hope she can be my friend."
She reached the classroom and spotted Bisky in the same seat by the windows.
Her hand supported her jaw as she stared outside.
Her eyelashes were narrow, she looked forlorn, as if she were in her own little world.
"There she is!"
Habiki wanted to call out to her, but Samantha interrupted from the door.
"Alright, everyone, take your seats! Magic session is about to begin!"
The class was brought to order, and the lessons began.
Throughout the lesson, Habiki noticed 3 seats filled yesterday were empty today.
"(Those seats, didn't they belong to...them)"
She recalled the girls laughing at her in the outdoor corridors.
They didn't turn up to class today.
"(I wonder what happened to them)" she thought and turn her attention back to the session.
Once Samantha called for the next study hall and left the room, Habiki turned to Bisky.
"He-Hey! Are you free later today..."
Her words trailed off.
Bisky covered her head, resting on the table. She was sleeping.
"Oh...I...I should wait. It'll be fine. I can wait."
Habiki nodded and then opened up her magician's bible.
"I need to focus, maybe she can help me, but I have to prove to be someone worth helping."
While navigating her book for a simple spell she could cast, shadows overcast her view.
3 boys had circled around her, and one of them slammed a hand on the desk.
"Ah!" she shook and looked up.
"um-umm...c-can...I help you?" she asked, her voice unsteady.
The boys' glares were intimidating.
Their actions had called the whole class's attention to them.
"I've got a question for you, freak! What the hell did you do to our girls?"
The boy ahead asked with a frown.
"I-I don't know what you're talking about."
"DON'T YOU DARE PLAY THAT SHIT WITH ME!" He slammed both hands on the desk, fiercer this time as Habiki's bible fell off.
"Arrghh! Please don't hurt me! I swear I don't know what you're talking about!" she tried to plead her case, tears in her eyes.
"Yea no shit! We saw it, you know." said the boy behind her.
"The last person they met was you in the corridors, and next thing we know, they're in the infirmary all roughed up, black and red spots on their bodies."
This was news to Habiki.
"wha-what!? I didn't do anything!"
The tension was palpable; the rest of the class was too scared to act as the boys appeared very strong and ruthless. Bonafide thugs.
"Tsk, this is stupid!" the desk-slamming boy scoffed
"I hate liars, and I hate dumb people even more. How about we make you bleed the same way they did, and then we'll so who's dumber here!"
He raised a fist, Habiki's heart rate spiked, she was surrounded and was accused.
She had no way out. Until,
"Geez...Quiet down, will you? Honestly, each and every one of you is so annoying."
Bisky said, cleaning her eyes like someone who just woke up from a deep slumber.
The boys turned to her.
"Huhhh! What did you say!?" the eager boy said.
"All this slamming and shouting, a girl can't catch a decent sleep around here."
The whole class was stunned by her bravado.
No one had interacted with her before. She had always isolated herself from the rest of the class. She never cared or butt in anyone's affair before.
There've been noisier incidents. However, for the first time, she was going out of her way.
"Heh, you wanna sleep, huh!"
The boy pushed himself off the desk and walked confidently to Bisky.
He grabbed her by the collar, twisting it, and lifted her in anger, raising a fist.
"One knock-out punch coming right up! That'll teach you a lesson in minding your own business!"
Habiki was terrified, she didn't want Bisky getting hurt.
But then, something strange was happening; Bisky wasn't scared or shaken.
"(She...she's smiling?)" Habiki in shock.
The boy caught her grin as well, he felt underestimated and insulted.
"Grrrrr, TAKE THIS!!!" He lashed out in anger, but in a flash, found himself crashing in front of the class.
'AAAAAAHHH!!!' the students screamed as the blackboard was shattered along with the teacher's desk, with books falling off the drawers.
Papers splattered on the floor as the boy fell, rendered unconscious.
The boys saw black spots, the same ones they had seen on the girls in the infirmary, forming on their friend's face.
No one could interpret what had just happened. No one but Bisky.
She stood still, her violet eyes glowing briefly as magic gothic chains were fading away from her fingers.
Then she adjusted the collar of her uniform.
"I will only say this once." her voice resonated in the silence she had imposed with her actions.
"Come against me, or anyone related to me, and I will end your magic career."
She then cast her gaze on the remaining boys.
"Do I make myself clear?"
The boys were too terrified to answer as they rushed their friend to the infirmary. It became clear to Habiki.
"(The girls in the infirmary, from yesterday...she...she must've done it)"
She looked at Bisky as she returned to her seat like nothing had happened, looking out the windows again.
"Um... thank you," Habiki muttered.
"I didn't do it for you. They were just noisy. I hate noise." Bisky replied, but it was a lie.
She did it for Habiki but had trouble expressing her feelings.
Habiki was truly grateful and was thinking of how to repay her, but Maya interrupted
"Bisky! Why did you do that?" she asked.
"Huh? oh, it's you Ma"
"(So her name is Bisky...but wait? Ma?)"
Her first time seeing Maya and she was scolding Bisky for her actions.
"Huhh, the first time I had to bail you out, but it's going to be difficult explaining what happened here without getting you in trouble, you know"
"Then don't. You can like, just skip over the part where I woke up" Bisky said
"That is not possible!!" Maya shouted
"Geez, quietly please." Bisky said nonchalant.
"Huhh, whatever am I to do with you?" Maya sighed
"Hahah, you're hilarious, Ma, and perhaps the only interesting one in this entire school."
Habiki was envious.
Maya seemed to be getting so well with Bisky, while she was having a hard time starting a conversation.
"Well...perhaps not the only one." Bisky said and turned to her, a smile on her face.
"Huh? do...do you mean me?" Habiki asked.
Bisky nodded, "Yup, I'm Bisky. What is your name?"
"Habiki!" she blurted out, she had been dying to introduce herself to her.
"Hm-hm, nice to meet ya, Habiki. Why don't we relate later? Gotta help you grow some backbone. You'll never make it in this world alive with that gullible attitude," she said.
Maya grumbled, "Na-ah Bisky. I won't you let you drag her into your delinquent ways"
"Aww, don't make me look bad Ma, you know it'll be good for her" Bisky joked.
"No means no. Honestly, we're trying to get you out of trouble not get more of you!" Maya scolded.
"Geez, I don't like the way you put that."
Habiki felt left out of the conversation and without thinking, she said, "I-I will go with you, Bisky!"
Bisky and Maya were stunned by her words.
"Huh? Wai-wait, are you serious?" Bisky asked.
"Habiki, do you know what you're saying? Bisky is...well Bisky is not a very good friend to have If I'm being honest!"
"Ouch! straight to the heart! You don't mince words, do you, Ma?"
Bisky pretended to be hurt.
"I'm serious! I will like to be your friend, Bisky" Habiki said, this time with conviction in her voice, and her eyes.
"..." Bisky remained silent, she wasn't particularly looking for friendship, but Habiki's words just stirred something in her.
A companionship.
"Habiki..." Maya muttered.
Bisky then grinned at her. "I like that look in your eyes."
She stood up and walked to Habiki.
Then she held her chin up and move her face closer to hers in a seductive approach.
Habiki's heart pounded, Bisky's cold touch, piercing eyes, the scent of her breath, her lips, everything about her was alluring, comforting.
"hmmmm...such a delicate specimen" Bisky muttered as her fingers carressed Habiki's cheeks.
Habiki closed her eyes, scared but strangely comfortable.
"hmmmm...yes, I think we'll get along just fine hehe...But-"
Bisky suddenly pulled away. Habiki opened her eyes, a little shaken.
"Huh?"
"It seems I will have to be put away for a while, what a shame."
As soon as Bisky said those words, Samantha dropped in and looked at the mess Bisky had made.
"... not again. BISKY!!" she called out, "TO MY OFFICE, NOW!"
"Ooops...knew it. Oh well, catch you later, Ma, and you too, Habi!"
Bisky winked at them and then casually put her hand behind her head, walking over to Samantha.
"Bisky... what's going to happen to her?" Habiki asked Maya.
"She'll face some scrutiny and will probably be punished with a sanction. 3-4 weeks minimum," Maya answered, then sighed, "She's always like this, it's not the first time she's hurt a classmate"
Bisky joined Samantha and was being dragged her to her office.
"Bu-but...the boys, they started it!" Habiki said.
"Doesn't matter. She harmed a classmate with magic. That is against the school rules. Although, I am surprised"
"Why?"
"This is the very first time, she acted for someone other than herself"
Those words made Habiki feel special.
To her Bisky was a savior, she wanted to be by her side, and even if she was to be sanctioned, Habiki was already thinking of ways to meet her.
If she must broke school rules herself to do it, she had no reservations.
