Chapter 161 - Chapter 161: Yakor

"Then… alright." Aiden could only nod his head.

"Thank you all so much." The girl with glasses pinched the corner of her skirt and bent her knees ladylike.

"You all are such kind people."

"Thank my girlfriend. I'm not that kind." Aiden waved his hand and continued walking forward.

"But you're nice too." The girl with glasses carried the big suitcase and followed beside him step by step.

Compared to the outskirts of the camp, the center of the camp was still relatively lively, of course, it also seemed a bit crowded.

Various stalls lined both sides of the road. The merchants were, of course, androids, selling all sorts of strange and unusual things. But most were mechanical parts, all found from machine lifeforms or human ruins.

'Totally different from in the game. So many more people now. It's lively, just like a human marketplace.' Aiden looked around while thinking to himself.

But that was normal. Humans also developed step by step this way, forming a unique social system. Come to think of it, machine lifeforms seemed to be the same. They had their own "civilization" and society too.

"Hey, may I ask what your names are?"

Beside him, the girl with glasses asked. She was carrying a large suitcase, and her walking posture looked a bit odd. It seemed her knees had problems, not very flexible, or perhaps too flexible.

"Sorry, it's not convenient to reveal our names."

Although the glasses girl had a sweet and charming appearance, Aiden wasn't too trusting of this android who appeared out of nowhere. In his memory, this character didn't appear in the game.

Of course, it might've also been because he didn't play the game seriously. Maybe she did show up in a file somewhere, and he just hadn't noticed.

Somehow, A2 seemed to like this girl a lot, like a little sister. She looked at the girl, pouted in displeasure, and said, "He's called Aiden. As for me…"

She paused for a moment, then lowered her voice and said, "A2."

"A2, huh? Hello." The glasses girl showed no emotional change, nodded toward A2, then continued speaking to Aiden, "Aiden, huh? Really rare naming style. I've traveled so many places, and it's my first time hearing that name."

"Well now you've heard it." Aiden glanced at her.

"Now that you know our names, it's your turn to tell us about yourself." Aiden added.

"Yakor." The girl with glasses pointed to herself. "The wandering beautiful girl recorder, Yakor. My dream is to record everything that happens in this world and turn it into a history book that can be passed down."

"A great dream. But nowadays, there's a more convenient tool, the memory database." Aiden pointed to his own head, then walked into a three-story apartment building.

There was a rental notice hanging at the entrance. The price was a bit expensive, but since this was a large resistance camp, it was understandable.

"Rent is three thousand a month. You can use other precious metals instead of currency, but gold is preferred, it's more widely accepted."

Receiving Aiden was a female android who looked about thirty years old, wearing a properly fitted long dress. She spoke stiffly, without much facial expression.

"The room is 304, human-style two-bedroom, one living room. Comes with a kitchen and a bathroom. There's a bathtub and a toilet in the bathroom, though the toilet can't be used, it's just decoration." The female android added.

"The toilet can't be used? No problem. We wouldn't use it anyway. But it's great there's a bathtub! We can take a bath!" Before Aiden or A2 could say anything, the girl with glasses cried out in excitement after hearing the explanation.

"Be careful the water doesn't short-circuit your body." Aiden said grumpily.

"No problem. My body's high-end, same as hers." Yakor pointed to A2. "Stuff like water seepage doesn't affect me."

"Heh." Aiden couldn't be bothered to say anything else. He caught the key and carried A2 upstairs.

Opening room 304, Aiden entered with a blank expression. Just as he expected, the furnishings were simple. Aside from a bed, it had more than the forest camp, it included a wardrobe, a nightstand, and a sofa in the living room. Judging by the dust on the cabinet and sofa, the previous residents clearly hadn't used them.

"The bathtub can fill with water. Aiden, come look."

Aiden wiped off the dust on the sofa. Just as he set A2 down, he heard the glasses girl, who had rushed into the bathroom, shouting inside.

"She's so noisy. Never seen an android like this before." Aiden complained to A2.

"She's just… special." A2 lifted her hood. A faint smile on her face, "Androids have existed in this world for thousands of years. Of course, there'll be some special ones. Just like you. You actually bothered to clean the dust off the sofa, any normal android wouldn't care."

"Good point." Aiden thought it over and agreed.

"But one thing you said is true, she really is too noisy." The girl was still yelling. Even A2 was getting a little fed up. She said to Aiden, "Go take a look."

Aiden nodded and turned to head to the bathroom.

Inside, Yakor held a rag she'd found from who-knows-where and was scrubbing the dust from the bathtub. The faucet beside her was still running, and the splashing water had soaked much of her upper body.

Aiden took a few steps forward and stood behind her. While looking down at the bathtub, he also saw the water-soaked chest of the glasses girl. Her blouse had lace trimming and only a thin layer between neck and chest. Once soaked, it turned see-through and clung tightly to her body, so when he looked down, he saw a deep and endless canyon.

Aiden quickly looked up. It was their first meeting, he didn't dare to stare so blatantly. Of course, if it were A2, well… then it wouldn't matter.

"Ahem… you're exposed." Aiden coughed lightly and gave a reminder. This kind of outgoing and energetic android girl should definitely have a sense of shame.

Sure enough, after hearing Aiden's cough, the glasses girl looked up, saw him staring at the ceiling with an awkward expression, then immediately thought of something. She lowered her head and glanced down.

Being a high-end android, Yakor clearly understood what "exposed" meant. She definitely had shame. Covering her chest with one hand and pointing to the door with the other, "Get out."

"You just told me to come in, and now you're telling me to leave? How ridiculous." Aiden of course wouldn't just leave like that. Come in if called, leave if told, how embarrassing would that be?

Seeing Aiden unmoved, Yakor got anxious. She got up to push him out, but once her hand left her chest, Aiden's eyes reflexively glanced over.

'Looks a bit bigger than A2's.'

Yakor puffed out her cheeks, grabbed the massive suitcase with one hand, it looked like she was going to smash it over Aiden's head.

Seeing her lift the case, Aiden knew she was serious now. So he shrugged and turned to leave the bathroom.

'How can there be an android like that? Looks just like a human.' After Aiden left, Yakor closed the door and thought angrily.

Then she squatted by the bathtub, frowning in thought, "Logically, androids shouldn't be evolving this fast. Even with the Bunker's current plans… or could it be…"

She was uncertain. She quickly opened her suitcase and took out a special storage device.

Coming out of the bathroom, Aiden saw the android girl holding a broom and slowly cleaning the room.

'Housekeeping android?' Aiden immediately thought.

But YoRHa Type-A was a combat model, with no housekeeping mode. Just like Roberta, she was great at fighting but totally hopeless at chores.

A2 was even worse than Roberta. At least Roberta avoided getting dust on clothes while cleaning. But this android girl had no such concept. Wearing a cloak that was slightly too large, she barely cleaned the floor, if anything, it was her dragging cloak that cleaned the ground more than the broom.

Still, it was understandable. In the original story, when 2B met A2, A2 was filthy like she'd never bathed. Her clothes were in tatters, her skirt torn to the point where even her underwear showed, worse than a beggar.

'It's about time I bought her some clothes.' Aiden rested his chin on his hand, thinking.

A few days ago at the forest camp, they sold women's clothes, but since A2 didn't mention changing, Aiden didn't offer to buy her any. After all, her tattered outfit, with holes all over her stockings, fit a particular aesthetic he liked. Those days of living alone with her, he sure got an eyeful.

But now it was different. They were in a large resistance camp full of androids. He didn't want A2 walking around in her current clothes anymore. Maybe that was a man's selfishness.

Watching A2 struggling to clean, Aiden stepped up to help and said, "We'll head out later, find a repair shop to get you maintained, and buy you some clothes."

A2 nodded, then said, "No need for clothes. What I have is fine."

She truly didn't think anything was wrong with her outfit. In fact, she had always fought alone in the wild to carry out her revenge plan, rarely visiting android settlements. And when she did, it was only to buy parts. Her interaction with android society was even less than some ordinary models, so she had no concept of many things.

"That won't do. You're my girlfriend, after all." Aiden raised a finger and wagged it lightly.

After quickly tidying up the room, Aiden carried A2 out the door.

At the same time, Yakor finished looking at the data in the storage device in the bathroom. Still confused, she gave up, packed everything away, and ran the water again.

Soon, she stripped off all her clothes and lay down in the bathtub.

"Androids need to enjoy themselves too. After all that walking, a bath is the best way to relieve fatigue." Yakor swirled her finger in the bathwater. Watching her chest ripple on the surface, her face suddenly turned cold.

"That bastard, just as detestable as humans. Just like those bad men Zero talked about."

"But speaking of which… I wonder how Zero's doing now? She should've dealt with her problem, right? Sigh… I really want to visit her again. The colors in this world are just too dull!"

The resistance camp in the city was large, but there wasn't much to see. Though some types of androids could buy food, most of what was sold were mechanical parts.

Aiden took A2 around the market, then finally found a shop that specialized in android repairs.

The owner was a middle-aged man-looking android. After asking about A2's condition, he pointed to a machine in the shop and said, "No big deal. Put her in there. That's a high-end unit the leader got from the Bunker. Compatible with all new-model bodies."

Soon, A2 came out fully repaired, not only restored but also fully polished. Her whole body gleamed.

But of course, such a high-end machine came at a high cost. Aiden paid an entire 1-kilogram gold bar for the repairs.

After leaving the repair shop, they bought some food at the market, and Aiden picked out some clothes for A2.

Unfortunately, the clothes here were all made from coarse, cheap fabrics. Fine for blocking wind and sand, but ugly. Far inferior to the materials and design of A2's current outfit.

That made Aiden think of the girl with glasses, Yakor. Her clothes didn't seem like they were made in this era. Lace trim, a delicate pleated skirt… very strange.
