Draziel's POV
I held her tight to my body as the void threw us into another world. I steered her above me so I could take all of the impact when we landed.
We slammed hard into the ground, with a massive thud that rang loud in my ears. Pain jarred through me, coursing through my veins in fine tremors. They almost exploded as we tumbled on the ground. Yet, I pressed her tighter to my body, taking on much of the pain from our tumbling. She was a human. She couldn't survive the impact as well as I would.
I slammed my back into something—hard, rough, and stony—a rock. It halted our tumbling. I collapsed onto the ground, my mouth thrown open as a rush of air screamed out of my lungs. At the same time, another wave of agony rippled through my back, every nerve crumbling in its wake. My larynx threatened to burst as I held back the scream filling up my throat. But that was only for a moment, because I heard myself yelling, loud guttural groans pouring from my throat.
