Chapter 160 - Chapter 158: Come on, little detective

Jiangxia Tongzhi looked a bit embarrassed after hearing that: "It's not easy to refuse an invitation from a client…"

Suzuki Sonoko looked a little sad.

…But anyway, it was definitely good for Jiangxia to have some career ambitions.

It seemed it was now her duty to stop Reika Yotsui from using her employer status to bully him and make shameless, excessive demands.

Jiangxia secretly observed Suzuki Sonoko and felt she suddenly got very motivated.

Although the whole plan was completely different from what he expected, and he still felt something was off... but whatever, it was enough to successfully abduct someone.

On the day of Reika Yotsui's birthday party, Jiangxia arrived at the office door and saw the car sent by the Yotsui family waiting.

This wasn't surprising—after all, the specially made invitation said a car would pick him up.

What Jiangxia didn't expect was that Reika Yotsui herself was sitting in the car.

It was a four-seater, with Reika Yotsui in the back seat.

Jiangxia was about to open the front passenger door, but Reika Yotsui waved at him and patted the back seat again. Judging by her gestures, she wanted him to sit there.

Jiangxia glanced at Reika Yotsui through the window but had no objections: fine, sit back there with her. He wasn't sure if this would somehow cause a ghost to be born later…

Though this idea lacked any real logic, Jiangxia still opened the back door hopefully.

Before he could get in, three people suddenly appeared beside him—

—Suzuki Sonoko, who had been squatting nearby, grabbed Conan and dragged Ran Mouri along. She rushed to the car, got in before Jiangxia, and sat next to Reika Yotsui.

Suzuki Sonoko pulled out an invitation letter and waved it with a smug look: "Thanks for the invite! Hope you don't mind the extra passengers."

Of course, their family had also received an invitation, but they hadn't planned to go before.

However, Suzuki Sonoko changed her mind when she found out Jiangxia would be there.

Ran Mouri smiled awkwardly and followed them into the back seat. All that was left was the front passenger seat.

Reika Yotsui glanced at Suzuki Sonoko, the daughter of the Suzuki Consortium chairman who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere, then looked at Jiangxia sitting up front, her eyes twitching.

She didn't really mean anything else—she just thought Jiangxia was pretty famous on their side. Bringing him around was not only good for show but a little fun to tease when bored.

Also, she still had a little business matter—Chairman Yotsui had recently sent a lot of bodyguards her way, which made her a bit nervous.

Reika Yotsui asked what was going on but got no answers, so she figured she could trust Jiangxia to investigate.

But she didn't expect…

Reika Yotsui glared at Suzuki Sonoko, who had separated her from Jiangxia, and her anger started rising. She hadn't expected a perfect plan, but this ruined everything right at the start.

Still, she was used to it—Reika Yotsui was already an adult who could hide her feelings behind a mask of hypocrisy. She knew who and what really mattered. Her usual violent temper only got vented on people lower than her.

Now, to upset the daughter of the Suzuki Consortium chairman… well, she still had that much sense.

Reika Yotsui could only angrily give up and comfort herself: Forget it, she's just a high school girl. What's there to care about?

She knocked on the driver's seat back and said in a sour tone, "Why aren't you leaving yet?"

The driver quickly replied and started the car.

Nearby, Suzuki Sonoko secretly gave Ran a victory "V" sign, then poked Conan, trying to slap the bear child to block Reika Yotsui.

Conan, however, didn't notice and just quietly adjusted his earmuffs.

That evening, the banquet began.

Jiangxia came prepared this time, bringing lots of business cards. He mingled through the crowd and collected even more cards.

His mood was constantly +1 +1 +1, carefully saving those spare cards for ghost hunting.

In the middle of the banquet hall, a large circle gathered around Reika Yotsui—all young talents. Reika Yotsui had said earlier that her birthday party wasn't just to celebrate but also to "look for a lucky gentleman."

Most guests knew Reika Yotsui was impatient to run the company but didn't have the talent for it. In other words, whoever married her would be marrying the entire Yotsui Group. So everyone was very attentive.

Reika Yotsui held a glass of red wine, looking proudly at the men around her. Then her eyes scanned the crowd and landed on Jiangxia, who was busy counting business cards nearby.

Just as she was watching, two high school girls with children suddenly appeared, standing right between Jiangxia and Reika Yotsui—perfectly blocking most of her view. No one would believe it was an accident.

Reika Yotsui snorted and looked away, unimpressed.

Honestly, she still preferred Jiangxia's type compared to the overly serious "young talents" hanging around her.

If she could, she really wanted to kidnap Jiangxia and make him marry her... But unfortunately, even Chairman Yotsui who doted on her wouldn't agree.

Thinking of this, Reika Yotsui's face darkened.

The change was obvious, but the circle of "young talents" closest to Reika Yotsui who could see her face well were actually her acquaintances. They were used to the eldest lady's erratic moods and didn't care much, continuing to enthusiastically promote themselves.

When the banquet ended, Jiangxia had successfully collected lots of business cards and started waiting patiently for his task.

Most guests had left, and Reika Yotsui was about to leave when the driver rushed over—her car had a flat tire.

The group of young talents perked up and started inviting Reika Yotsui to ride with them, secretly showing off their fancy cars.

But before they finished, the driver carefully said, "Your cars all have flat tires too."

Young talents: "…"

Chairman Yotsui sighed and wanted to share other guests' cars but Reika Yotsui refused—she "wouldn't share a ride with others on her beautiful birthday."

So she decided to stay at the villa overnight and have her father send a car the next day.

Chairman Yotsui couldn't refuse his daughter and agreed. The young talents with flat tires immediately volunteered to stay with her.

Suzuki Sonoko glanced contemptuously at the group and planned to call her driver to pick her up.

But the villa was in a remote area with no signal.

Suzuki Sonoko could only put down her phone, go into the villa, and ask Reika Yotsui where the landline was.
