Chapter 28 - The Seal of Eternity

The cavern, once alive with the roar of flames and shadow, now lay still. The ground was scorched, and the air carried a strange weight—a mixture of lingering tension and the scent of burnt ashes. Vill Long Feng stood amidst the aftermath, his body battered but his spirit unbroken. The dark reflection of himself—the twisted version of his own fears—was gone, reduced to nothing but ash in the winds that now stirred within the cavern.

The Abyssal Warden watched silently, its ember-like eyes glowing faintly in the darkness. It made no move to attack or challenge Vill further, as if it were waiting for something else.

Vill's breath was steady now, but his mind raced. The trial he had faced—confronting the darkness within him—had not only tested his strength but forced him to reckon with the very essence of his power. It had shaken him to his core, but the experience had also solidified his resolve. His Phoenix flames, the power of rebirth, and the unstoppable force of his Dragon bloodline—he had learned to control them, to wield them not as curses, but as the tools of his destiny.

"You have passed the trial," the Warden spoke again, its voice somber but not without respect. "Few have ever managed to defeat their own darkness. But this is not the end of your journey, Vill Long Feng. There are greater trials ahead."

Vill's gaze narrowed. "What do you mean by greater trials? I've already faced the worst of myself."

The Warden tilted its head, as if considering how to respond. "You have faced your inner demons, yes. But this realm holds deeper secrets—secrets that will push you to your limits. Only by unearthing those secrets can you claim the true power of the Sovereign of the Eternal Flames."

Vill's pulse quickened at the mention of the title. The Sovereign of the Eternal Flames. It was the name he had heard whispered in the shadows of his past, the name that spoke of a power beyond imagination. It was the power he had always sought, the power that could help him exact his vengeance, the power that could shape his destiny.

"What are these secrets?" Vill demanded, his voice tinged with urgency. "Tell me what I must do to unlock this power."

The Warden's form seemed to ripple with the shifting shadows as it spoke again, its voice carrying an ancient weight. "To claim the power of the Sovereign of the Eternal Flames, you must first unlock the Seal of Eternity. The seal lies deep within this realm, hidden beneath layers of tests, trials, and guardians that have existed since time began. Only one who has proven themselves worthy—who has passed the trials of the elements, mind, and soul—can break the seal."

Vill's heart skipped a beat. "The Seal of Eternity? Where is it?"

The Warden's ember-like eyes glowed brighter for a moment, before it responded. "It lies beyond the Abyss, within the heart of this forbidden realm. You must journey further, deeper into the dark unknown. But beware—there are forces within this realm that will do everything in their power to prevent you from reaching it."

A cold smile tugged at Vill's lips. He had already faced the depths of his own darkness; now, nothing would stop him. His eyes burned with determination. "Then I will go. I will break the seal, and I will claim the power of the Sovereign of the Eternal Flames."

"Very well," the Warden said, its voice filled with a strange finality. "But know this: the trials ahead are not what you expect. You may face more than just physical enemies. You may face temptations that will challenge your very soul."

Vill nodded, steeling himself for the journey ahead. "I am ready."

Without another word, the Warden raised one arm, and the ground before Vill began to split open. A dark, swirling vortex appeared, its edges crackling with energy. The air around the portal shimmered with a strange, otherworldly power, like a doorway to another realm.

"Go, and prove your worth," the Warden intoned, its voice echoing as if it came from the very walls of the cavern. "The Seal of Eternity awaits."

Without hesitation, Vill stepped forward, his boots hitting the ground with a soft thud. He could feel the weight of the portal's energy pull at him, a gravity that seemed to beckon him into the unknown. But he didn't falter. He had come too far to turn back now.

As he crossed the threshold, the darkness closed around him, and he felt himself falling—falling into the abyss.

The world twisted around him as if reality itself were being unraveled. He could hear whispers, indistinct voices calling to him from the void. His body spun, and his flames flickered, trying to fight against the overwhelming force that sought to consume him.

Then, with a sudden jolt, the world around him solidified. The swirling vortex disappeared, and Vill found himself standing on solid ground once more. The air was still thick with power, but it felt different here—darker, more oppressive, as if the very essence of the realm were alive and watching him.

Before him stood a massive gate, ancient and worn, its surface covered in intricate runes that pulsed with a faint, ethereal light. At the center of the gate was a symbol—a flame, surrounded by two intertwined dragons—each one facing the other, their bodies curling around the flame as if protecting it.

Vill's heart skipped a beat as he recognized the symbol. It was the mark of the Sovereign of the Eternal Flames. This was the Seal of Eternity.

But there was something else—something darker. The runes on the gate seemed to writhe and shift, as if they were alive, testing his presence, challenging his very will.

Vill stepped forward, his heart steady, his mind focused. He had come this far, and he would not let this seal stand between him and his destiny.

He reached out, placing his hand against the cold stone of the gate.

Immediately, the ground trembled beneath him, and a powerful wave of energy surged through him. His flames erupted, swirling around him in a protective aura. But it wasn't enough.

The gate resisted, pushing back against his flames, testing the depth of his resolve. Vill gritted his teeth, drawing on every ounce of his power, summoning both his Dragon and Phoenix bloodlines. His flames intensified, growing hotter, brighter, until they blazed like a living inferno.

And then, with a sudden burst of energy, the gate's runes shifted. The stone cracked, and the Seal of Eternity began to break.

But as the seal crumbled, a voice echoed in the distance—a dark, haunting voice that sent a chill down Vill's spine.

"You have broken the seal, but the true test has only just begun."
