Chapter 62: Skye's Bad Taste! Barbara Gets the Wrong Idea Again!

Ghost Spider Club.

"Huh~ I've finished scanning this area~"

Skye tapped away on her laptop, monitoring real-time surveillance footage. On screen, the supercriminal Scorpion could be seen escaping with the Civet Cat, while SHIELD agents gave chase.

Thanks to the upgraded combat suits Gwen and her team wore—intelligent and semi-autonomous, with built-in hacking capabilities—Skye's job as the "logistics support" had become much easier. All she needed to do was connect the suits to the surveillance grid, and the suits would automatically download what they needed.

Fake Logistics Officer: Daisy Johnson

Real Logistics Backbone: Tony Stark

"Want some ice cream?"

"Thanks~"

A cone of taro-flavored ice cream was handed to her from behind. Skye accepted it without thinking—until she registered the voice.

Wait… that voice?

She snapped her laptop shut.

Then turned.

Sure enough—a blonde beauty stood before her.

"Barbara!"

Skye blinked in surprise. "When did you get here?"

This woman was from SHIELD. If she saw Skye snooping on their agents, wouldn't that spell trouble?

"I just got here~"

Barbara batted her lashes, her crystal blue eyes somewhat reminiscent of Gwen's.

"What were you doing?"

"Nothing."

Skye tried to stay calm. "Just browsing the internet. Thanks for the ice cream."

"You're welcome~ Mind if I ask you something?"

Barbara pulled up a chair beside her and sat down. "It's about Ethan Lee."

"Ethan?"

Skye had assumed Barbara wanted to grill her about the club or Ghost Spider's true identity. She hadn't expected her to bring up Ethan.

Ethan Lee was just a normal guy… right?

Well, sure, his hands sometimes sparked with blue electricity, and he occasionally released this golden shimmer (which Skye had mistaken for some kind of "golden slime"—probably one of his weird spells).

But he wasn't combat-capable.

At best, he knew a few flashy tricks, and had… a flair for theatrics.

So, in Skye's opinion, Ethan was still just an eccentric civilian.

"I heard you're his assistant," Barbara said, fishing. "Do you happen to know what his hobbies are?"

Ethan wasn't Barbara's mission target—but something about him intrigued her. Maybe it was because he'd seen through her last time. Maybe it was the competitive spark she felt since. Either way, she was determined to uncover the truth about Ethan Lee.

"He has a few~"

Skye didn't see any harm in answering. "He just likes slacking off and messing around most days."

Barbara took out a tiny notebook. "Can you be more specific? Like… actual hobbies?"

"Hobbies…" Skye tilted her head in thought. "Well, he likes painting?"

"Painting?"

Barbara raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, he doesn't do it a lot, but when he does, he likes drawing pretty women."

Drawing beautiful women?

Barbara took mental notes. That's not so bad. It was a hobby she could work with—especially if it gave her an excuse to spend time with him.

She leaned forward. "What else? What else?"

"Let's see…" Skye pretended to think deeply. "He has a few small hobbies. Like doing magic tricks, or practicing martial arts…"

Fighting skills?

Barbara perked up. That was her specialty. She made sure to jot that down too.

Then she shifted forward, arms bracing the white table in front of them.

"What about… private hobbies?"

She leaned closer to Skye and asked in a whisper, "Like… would he like the color I'm wearing today?"

Barbara wore a loose V-neck white T-shirt. From Skye's angle, it was… revealing, to say the least.

"???"

Skye gave her a weird look. "You're not trying to seduce Ethan, are you?"

She had noticed Barbara's wardrobe getting increasingly flirtatious lately. Too bad Ethan hadn't been visiting the club often. So really, all those suggestive outfits were being wasted on thin air.

"What do you mean seduce?"

Barbara pulled her collar up, but with a mischievous glint in her eye. "I know your relationship with him isn't exactly ordinary."

She smiled sweetly. "Excellent men always attract attention. And I'm attracted to him~"

Skye narrowed her eyes—Yeah, I don't believe you.

What's this SHIELD agent up to?

If she wanted to play games, then Skye would match her.

"Oh, more private hobbies?"

Skye pretended to ponder. "Well, Ethan is big on oral hygiene."

"Oral… hygiene?"

"Yeah! He visits a dental clinic regularly for professional teeth cleaning."

Skye even winked.

"He likes cleanliness, you know~"

Barbara blushed. "He likes… that?"

Coming from a country where innuendo was practically an art form, Barbara had enough "driving experience" to immediately misinterpret that line.

Especially given Skye's tone and that suggestive pause before "cleaning."

She got the wrong idea in a second.

Skye grinned internally—bad taste, 1, SHIELD agent, 0.
