Chapter 65: Scorpion Under Siege! Hawkeye Is Ignored
Suddenly—whoosh!
Bite!
Specially designed alloy arrows pierced through Scorpion's outer armor and lodged themselves in his inner joints, causing him to stumble and crash to the ground.
The man he had been holding—Walter—was thrown aside.
"Damn it!"
Gargan cursed, scrambling to his feet and lunging for Walter—
Thud!
Hawkeye intercepted with another precise arrow, striking Gargan's arm and knocking it off course.
That moment of delay was all it took.
Melinda and her strike team arrived, surrounding Gargan in a tight formation.
"MacDonald 'Mac' Gargan!" Melinda aimed her gun directly at him. "You are now under suspicion of threatening national security. Step out of the suit and surrender immediately!"
She didn't expect him to comply, but protocol was protocol.
Gargan scoffed, grabbing Walter with a sneer.
"Even if you team up, none of you can take me down. Back off—unless you want to be flattened like burger meat."
Thud!
A tall figure landed from above with a controlled burst of air from glowing boots.
Silver and black suit, sleek form, long ponytail trailing in the air—
Jessica landed with poise.
Behind her, Gwen descended on a strand of spider silk.
Cindy perched upside-down on a nearby wall, arms crossed.
"Criminal! Let go of Felicia's dad!"
The three girls formed a blockade behind Gargan, cutting off his escape route.
"Criminal? Isn't he one too?" Gargan sneered, lifting Walter effortlessly with one hand. "If you're here to save him—"
He squeezed Walter's sides, a threat clear in his eyes.
"—then stay out of my way!"
Thwack!
Another arrow—this one with a blunt tail hammer—slammed into Gargan's arm, knocking it off balance.
"Now!" Jessica called.
She shot into the air, spinning with grace. A flying kick connected hard with Gargan's elbow, superhuman strength amplified by her advanced suit.
The impact numbed his entire arm—Walter slipped from his grasp.
"Knight girl!" Gargan roared, swinging with his other arm in fury.
"Why are all of you supervillains obsessed with green armor and insane strength?" Jessica grunted, parrying the blow. Her block cracked the armored limb.
"Help incoming!"
Gwen shot a web to Walter, yanked him toward safety with both hands.
Meanwhile, Cindy saw her chance. Her legs tensed—then she launched off the wall like a spring-loaded missile.
Bang!
In a blur, she appeared mid-air on Gargan's blind side.
Her red-and-black sneakers cut a sharp arc—
Clang!
A clean kick to Gargan's jaw rocked his head back.
Once the fight began, the tide turned instantly.
Gargan was swarmed by coordinated attacks from three agile fighters—and Hawkeye's arrows continued to strike from a distance.
With Gwen, Jessica, and Cindy in sync, Gargan was outmatched. Utterly.
"Oh my God!"
Spectators gathered, filming from a distance.
"Is that Ghost-Spider and the Female Knight?"
"They've got new suits!"
"Who's the new Spider-Woman? She's so cool!"
"And that guy with the bow…"
"Who is he?"
"Who cares? He looks… kinda boring."
Hawkeye: "…"
Seriously?
It wasn't just his looks—Hawkeye's style lacked the flashiness of the spider-trio's dynamic combat.
Their acrobatic flips, sharp counters, and rhythmic strikes danced off Scorpion's metal suit like a drumline.
Soon, parts of the armor were scattered across the pavement.
"You call this superhero justice? Ganging up like this?" Gargan spat blood, furious.
The girls didn't dignify that with an answer.
They struck from three sides—
Crack! Crack! Crack!
The force of the combined attacks sent Gargan crashing to his knees.
The battle was over.
This time, thanks to Cindy's addition, it ended faster than ever.
"Thank you for your assistance," Melinda said, directing agents to secure the scene. She turned to the trio. "You were a huge help."
Cindy stepped forward, brushing her hair back.
"I heard from Chief George that Felicia's father is now in your custody. What do you plan to do with him?"
"Don't worry." Melinda offered a reassuring smile.
"We're just retrieving what belongs to us."
Wanting to strengthen their relationship with the vigilantes, she continued,
"This isn't the best place to talk. Why don't we go somewhere more private?"
Jessica and Gwen exchanged glances.
They knew Melinda's background—Skye had told them plenty.
Was it time to start working with a government task force?
They decided to discuss it with Ethan Lee first—their unofficial team lead.
---
Meanwhile, elsewhere…
Ethan was having a very different kind of evening.
With Wana out searching for funds and no mother at home, Felicia had… relaxed her standards.
She wasn't worried about what the neighbors heard—as long as her mom didn't find out.
The battlefield had shifted.
From the bedroom… to the living room… and now to the kitchen.
And Ethan?
He was definitely not thinking about Scorpion.
