Chapter 29 - Chapter 29: Silver Loyalties, Golden Sword

One Week Later.

"Ena, has Duke Voban arrived in Japan?" Kojou asked as he walked home from school.

Though others would avoid Voban due to the vast number of Authorities he possessed, it mattered little to Kojou. With his Spiritual Sight, he could perceive divine essences and trace the source of Authorities—and with the Golden Sword, no Authority user could defeat him.

Well, if this were before he sacrificed his other Authorities, and with the restriction of using the Golden Sword only once per day, it might've been a tough fight. But he'd still win. The destructive nature of his Beast Vassal was overwhelming by default, and after his power level increased, the Beast Vassal's strength grew even more devastating.

"Duke Voban arrived in Japan at 3:25 AM," Ena replied. The History Compilation Committee had been tracking Duke Voban's movements and informed her—after all, it was no secret that Kojou and Duke Voban were destined to clash.

"So, do you know where he is now?" Kojou asked again, combat spirit burning in his eyes.

"Not yet." Ena shook her head. They still hadn't pinpointed Duke Voban's exact location; he'd been constantly on the move since arriving in Japan.

"In that case, leave this to me." Erica suddenly spoke up with a confident smile, staring at a fixed point. "There's someone I need to meet—someone who should know where Duke Voban is."

"You mean that silver-haired girl?" Kojou raised an eyebrow, glancing at the girl who'd been perched on a rooftop, watching the school since morning.

"Correct. She's my friend—Liliana Kranjcar." Erica's light smile twisted into a frown. "I heard she serves Duke Voban, so I wanted to confirm her intentions. If she's not committed to him, I'll make sure she joins our side."

"Seems you care a lot about this Liliana girl." Kojou studied Erica's scowling face.

Over a month had passed since he arrived in this world, and he and Erica had been inseparable. They understood each other deeply—sometimes a single glance was enough to communicate volumes.

"Well… she's one of my only friends, besides Arianna and Ena." Erica flushed slightly, embarrassed to admit it.

"Do what you need to. But if things go south and that old man Voban shows up, don't engage immediately." Kojou cast a final glance at Liliana—she didn't seem to be their primary target. "If anything happens, I'll use Authority: Tempest (Gale) to reach you instantly. So don't worry—handle it your way."

"Thank you, Kojou." Erica smiled brightly and kissed his cheek. "Then I'll go."

Her joy was obvious. Though Kojou could have accompanied her, he chose to give her privacy with her friend—while remaining ready to aid her at any moment.

"Your Majesty is so considerate." Ena grinned, admitting (if only to herself) that being assigned to serve Kojou had been a blessing. He was kind, patient, and supportive—never annoyed by their actions, always willing to shoulder consequences for them.

"Though I'm like this now, I was an idiot who couldn't take a hint until two months ago." Kojou smirked wryly, remembering his past cluelessness. He'd gladly time-travel just to slap some sense into his former self.

"Really…?" Ena blinked in shock. She couldn't imagine it—since meeting him, Kojou had always been perceptive and gentle, picking up on subtleties effortlessly.

"It's true." Kojou scratched his head awkwardly. "By the way, wanna grab a bite before heading home?"

Since coming to Japan, Kojou had lived with Erica and Ena in a house provided by the Copper-Black Cross, who'd sworn loyalty to him. Meeting their king's needs was their highest priority.

"Of course! Ena knows a ramen place Your Majesty will love." She beamed, aware of Kojou's obsession with ramen.

"Just thinking about ramen makes me hungrier." Kojou groaned, clutching his stomach with a pitiful expression.

"Hahaha! How about hitting the arcade after eating?" Ena's smile widened at his antics—she adored seeing Kojou's varied expressions.

"Arcade? Hell yeah." Kojou's eyes gleamed with more fighting spirit than when facing a Heretic God.

Erica and Ena knew Kojou loved games—but he hated losing more than even Erica. He'd pour his soul into winning (though he never cheated). Even in defeat, he'd accept it gracefully… only to train relentlessly for a rematch. He never lost the same game twice in a row.
