Where was it?
The outpost. It had to be nearby.
I climbed higher, hoping altitude might give me an edge, some glimpse of structure, distortion, anything. But all I saw was more of the same. Snow. Stone. Broken hills wrapped in silence.
They were hiding it well.
Given everything I'd encountered so far, I figured it was worth trying Crown. If a forcefield or visual disruption was in place, Crown might catch the edge. A ripple. A fracture.
So I expanded it. Wide as I could. Then I waited. Focused. Started scanning the terrain methodically.
It wasn't quick. The area wasn't small, and I had no exact point of reference, just the belief that it had to be close. Near the Leviathan's prison. That was where Barit's interest had been centered, which meant he wouldn't build too far from it.
As for the Leviathan… I didn't know if it was dead. Or if it was still trapped. Maybe there was no escape at all. But either way, I'd done what I could.
