The bear's head disappeared from this world.
Then the body fell, a loud thud echoing through the forest.
I didn't get anything from it. No drop, no core, nothing. Waste of a fight. Would've probably made for a decent item too. Though now that I thought about it, this one seemed less void-flicked than the others I'd encountered.
"Ra'Jax, I didn't know you could do that," I said. "Honestly, it caught me off guard. Good job." A brief nod of praise. It was impressive, no point denying that.
The cub stood nearby, licking his paw. Must've hurt it after getting hurled like that. Made sense. But he looked pleased with the praise.
That was another thing—odd, now that I was thinking about it. I couldn't see Ra'Jax's skills. Not his abilities, not his stats, nothing. I should've written that into the contract. Too focused on declaring no tolerance for cowardice and preaching about the fight.
I thought I was being clever.
