It had only been a few hours since the sun sank below the horizon, but it was already making a comeback for the citizens of Mischel.
The sleeping citizens on the other side of the city didn't notice it. They would have barely seen it even if they were awake.
The ones a little closer woke up due to a rumbling sound and could glance out to see the orange light reaching into the darkness of the night, doing its best to fight off an eternal enemy. Or they could go back to sleep.
The ones close enough heard the rumbling explosion clearly enough to figure out that the flickering, unsteady orange light was no sun. The smell of smoke already reaching their noses meant that it could only mean one thing.
Fire, and a large one at that.
However, they had no idea why such a large fire had suddenly broken out on the edge of the city.
