When Izayoi finally got serious, Root's members instantly lost any ability to resist.
Confronted with an unstoppable combination of "pull" and "push," they couldn't flee – every jutsu or secret technique was mercilessly repelled and scattered. Illusions did nothing. Even when they attempted to run and hide in the darkness, those human puppets adept at Lightning Release tracked them down and finished them off.
Before long, everyone in Root was dead at the hands of the Kurotsuki clan puppets—except for Danzo Shimura, who had become a vegetable, and one other person secretly left alive on purpose.
As each Root member fell, beams of various colors emerged from their corpses and streaked toward Izayoi: some green, some blue, some purple…
"Decompose."
"Decompose."
"Everything…decompose."
He dealt with the steady flow of system notifications by immediately opting to break down every trait. In a flash, his points surged again, reaching [97277].
Staring at that figure, Izayoi felt both happiness and regret. Happy, because just by wiping out Root, he'd netted over 80,000 points—nearly ten percent of the "unknown" rank fragment needed. Regretful, because this was an all-or-nothing harvest. Elite forces like Root were extremely rare in the ninja world.
For someone who could "farm" trait drops repeatedly, Root was a treasure trove—like a "money tree" that would keep sprouting gold coins if left alive.
Ideally, he would have just farmed them over time. But Izayoi hated being watched, and he wasn't about to save Hiruzen Sarutobi. Rather than risk Danzo targeting him, Izayoi struck first.
If he let this chance slip by during the Konoha Crush, he wouldn't get another such perfect opportunity. While he might be able to take Danzo out later, it would definitely cause a huge commotion.
Though his Transformation Jutsu was flawless, it couldn't change his chakra signature—making exposure too likely. Now that Izayoi had real ties to Konoha, he had no interest in living the life of a dreaded rogue ninja.
After making a few quick hand signs, the clone stationed at the Naka River sent in a batch of puppets to collect the Root corpses in large storage scrolls. Izayoi then used attractive force to pick up Danzo and headed deeper into the hideout.
Only after Izayoi and his puppets departed did someone hiding near the ceiling let out a shaky breath. After a few gulps of air, he fell silent again, too afraid to even break his camouflage technique—much less risk running. Meanwhile, he had memorized every word of "Tendo Pain's" conversation with Danzo and the display of his abilities.
…
Boom—
Stopping in front of a rock wall that connected to the Hokage Rock above, Izayoi pressed one hand against it. The repulsive force pounded the surface in waves, blasting through stone, metal, seals—everything blocking his path. Soon, an entrance to a hidden chamber emerged.
Inside sat several bookshelves packed with scrolls of various sizes, colors, and labels, divided into three sections: "Intel," "Ninjutsu," and "Secret Techniques." Absent was any "Forbidden" section.
Izayoi refused to believe Danzo had no forbidden scrolls. That was partly why he had spared Danzo—he needed answers. Approaching the "Secret Techniques" shelf, Izayoi took one quick look and whistled softly.
"Wow, he's openly stashed away the Yamanaka and Nara, even Akimichi and Aburame secret arts—stuff not even the Hokage dares to take. That's 'Lord Danzo' for you!"
Exposing this stash would surely spark outrage against Danzo. After all, these clan-specific secret arts were closely guarded, even within their own families—definitely not something the Hokage could just appropriate. Yet here Danzo was, brazenly stockpiling it all. Another testament to his power in Konoha and how fearless he'd become.
Scanning a few shelves, Izayoi soon found what he wanted. He retrieved a small red scroll labeled "Mind-Reading Jutsu."
"No mental chakra orb just yet, so I'll make do with this for now," Izayoi murmured. Opening the scroll, he began to read.
In no time, he'd learned the Yamanaka Clan's interrogation cornerstone—a secret mind-reading jutsu. Wielding the ultimate dōjutsu's Yin Release chakra plus the nature transformations awakened with his Tenseigan gave Izayoi near-effortless mastery of any technique.
Especially since he had gold-rank Chakra Control, an asset second only to his Tenseigan itself. Without that, he might have only managed something like the "Super Typhoon Serial Spheres" or possibly refined Naruto's Wind Release: Rasenshuriken—but he certainly wouldn't be able to fuse two or three nature transformations so easily into a variety of ultimate moves.
"Ninja Art: Mind Reading Jutsu!"
Izayoi placed Danzo on the ground and rested his palm on the man's forehead. Powerful Yin Release chakra seeped into Danzo's brain, quickly extracting whatever memories he wanted. A few moments later, Izayoi had what he came for.
"So it's all hidden at his clan compound. Truly a reckless man," Izayoi mused. Then he signaled one of his shadow clones, who directed a human puppet to stab Danzo through the neck, finishing off the source of all this trouble.
One purple beam and one blue beam flew out from Danzo's corpse and melted into Izayoi. He broke both down into system points. Finally, Izayoi's total soared past 100,000.
Grabbing Danzo's body, he exited the secret chamber, retracing his steps so that the hidden observer would witness Danzo's corpse firsthand.
At the same time, a swarm of puppets flickered in, swiftly emptying the library of scrolls. All that Danzo had built up over decades—his elite Root subordinates, the ninja arts and secret techniques he'd stolen by any means necessary, and the valuable intel he'd gathered at who-knew-what cost—now belonged to Izayoi.
Konoha's "Crush" was barely underway, and though the villagers weren't even fully evacuated yet, half of Konoha's foundation had already fallen into Izayoi's hands. The Hokage's good buddy Danzo died before he did.
But Izayoi wasn't done yet.
Stepping out of the underground base, he shot a glance toward the central district, a faint smirk curling his lips, then vanished with the Body Flicker.
