Chapter 6
As he pulled her into the sleek black car, the darkness gripped them both, enveloping them as she felt his intense gaze on her, his fingers on her wrist, and his other hand wrapping around her waist as she tried her best to pry herself free.
"Let go of me!" Laurent demanded, struggling with his hold on her.
"I did tell you to behave, now didn't I?" Kieran asked, letting her fingers scratch against his suit.
"Why won't you let me go?!" She yelled, still struggling.
"You're so feisty, why would I let that go?" He answered, letting his hands off her body.
She quickly pulled away from him.
"What wrong did I do that you can't just let me go!" She asked, yelling in the dark atmosphere.
Seeing as she wouldn't get any answers from him, she immediately moved away and placed her hand on the door handle. Just as she moved, he pulled her back in, dragging her arm.
"If you walk outside right now, you could be in grave danger," he said calmly.
"I'd rather die out there than take the label of your woman," she blurted out.
"Ouch..that hurt," he answered, a grin on his face.
"Take us home," he said to the driver who was on the other side of the little wall that separated them in the car.
"Yes, boss," the man answered.
"What's your problem?" She asked, folding her arms now, furious.
"Stop here," he said. A frown formed on her face. The moment the car stopped, he opened the door and immediately shut it, not letting her move fast enough to get out as the doors locked and the little wall closed up.
"Stop this frigging car and let me out!" She yelled, banging ferociously on the door, and letting out a scream. The driver, now unbothered and instructed to carry out a job, did as he was told.
After a while, they got back to the mansion, and Laurent felt uneasy as she felt the vehicle stop.
"What's happening?" She muttered as she got herself ready to lunge forward and fight whoever got in the way of her freedom.
The car door flung open, and she saw it as a chance to escape. Quickly, she got herself out of the car.
"Please, miss..let's go get you changed," the maid said as she helped her out of the car.
"I'm sorry," Laurent whispered, pushing her away before anyone could react. She lunged at the gate, sprinting like her life depended on it.
"Get her!" The man in black who stood by the stairs yelled.
All their attention went to Laurent as she started sprinting across grown men.
'Finally..freedom' she thought to herself as she felt something on her neck, as she tried to turn to see what it was, her body felt heavy and she found herself face first to the ground, her eyelids closed up immediately after.
The men dressed in black quickly went to her aid as she lay helplessly unconscious on the grassy plain.
"Get her inside and get her a bath and some clothes!" The leader of the group ordered.
"Yes, sir," they answered in unison, picking her up and taking her to her room as the maids scurried after them, rushing to give her a bath and have her in clean night clothes.
"Don't you think it was too harsh?" A maid muttered as she prepared a hot bath.
"I know, right..she's being here against her wish, and worst part is..we can't say even the slightest thing about this to anyone," the other answered.
"Keep your voice down…they might hear you and you know what that means," the maid said as she added the bath soap. They both looked at each other and shuddered at the thought of the consequences.
"Let's just give her a bath and change her clothes," the other muttered as the other maid agreed.
After having Laurent in a new set of clothes, a night robe, they laid her gently on the bed with so much effort.
"Arg..he she's quite weighty," one said
"It's because she's unconscious," the other answered.
After laying her down, they set to leave, just as they wanted to move, they noticed the door creak and open, there he was, the mafia king, still in his full attire, he walked in stealthily.
"What are you both doing here so late?" Kieran asked.
"Uh..master Kieran, we were giving the lady her bath," the first maid answered, bowing her head to avert his gaze, just as they always did.
"Why? The lady can handle that much on her own," he pointed out. "What happened to her?" He asked, now getting agitated.
There was silence; the two ladies dared not make eye contact with him, but they both looked at each other with their faces down, their hearts beating fast, and they had both begun to have cold sweats as they fidgeted. One of them used her hand to wipe off the sweat that wouldn't dry or come off.
"I asked you a question, don't make the mistake of letting me repeat it," he said, still controlling his anger.
"Sir..the..young miss was shot…with a tranquilizer," the other finally said as her body felt cold and her face went pale.
"Who shot her?" He asked.
"We... don't know, sir..we were at the balcony awaiting her arrival when she bolted out from the car, rushing to the gates, and someone from behind shot her neck." The second spoke, mustering all the courage she could to let her lips spill.
"Her neck, that's a vital spot," he said. Walking between them to see an unconscious Laurent who lay idly on the bed, a mark stale on her neck.
"Both of you get out, get out!" He yelled. They both rushed to the door, whimpering in fear.
He sat beside her as she slept soundly without any covers, he took the blanket, put it over her body, he moved closer to her, letting his hand caress her face and then down, trailing to her neck, he noticed the mark on her skin, a flush of anger found its way to his blood.
'Who dared to taint my woman?' Kieran thought to himself as he rushed outside the room, his anger fully fueled.
