Chapter 45 - Chapter 46

Chapter 46

"Okay." *2

Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing responded together.

Their team was known as the Dragon Team — a name casually coined by Lin Bai, who naturally served as its captain.

"Zhuqing, scout ahead. Be careful of the dark magic those vampires might have."

The three of them didn't venture too deep, only exploring up to the fifth floor of the dungeon. They were already familiar with the surface-level monster info here.

"Mm."

Zhu Zhuqing moved to the front, her Shadow Cat King Martial Spirit activating. Her second soul ring lit up, and her entire figure melted into the dim surroundings, becoming one with the shadows.

This was Shadow Sneak, her second soul skill. It wasn't an offensive move, but with enough soul power, Zhu Zhuqing could remain in a stealth state indefinitely. Attacks outside of light and fire attributes couldn't touch her.

Lin Bai could've easily scouted ahead with his telekinesis, but he wasn't a babysitter. Xiao Wu and Zhu Zhuqing needed growth, so most of the time, he made it a point to train them in real situations.

"Most dungeons are pitch-black. Perfect environment for Zhuqing."

Xiao Wu sighed quietly. In darkness, Zhu Zhuqing's soul skills grew stronger — one of the passive traits of a Shadow Master. It would only improve as she leveled up. The two girls made a perfect frontline duo.

"Don't get jealous. Judoka's direct combat ability is better than a Shadow Master's. Just keep up, and don't leave Zhuqing exposed."

They entered a narrow passage and were transported to the fifth floor — the Vampire Nest.

Though called vampires, the creatures here were closer to half-human bat monsters — bloodthirsty, cruel, cunning, and extremely hard to kill.

Lin Bai's footsteps were nearly soundless, a habit forged by long hours in dungeons. You had to stay on guard constantly. You never knew when monsters or hostile adventurers might appear.

About a quarter-hour later, Zhu Zhuqing's shadowy form halted. She gestured ahead with a hand signal — someone else was already here.

Lin Bai thought for a moment, then gave an order.

"Since we're here, let's check it out. If they can't handle it, we'll jump in to 'help.'"

It was called helping, but it was basically a kill-steal.

Leveling wasn't easy. After level ten, the EXP needed doubled with every stage. Hunting higher-tier monsters was the only way to level quickly.

After three months, Lin Bai's two professions had reached level thirteen. Zhu Zhuqing and Xiao Wu were both around level fifteen, while Ying Tian wasn't in a rush, currently sitting at level eight.

Zhu Zhuqing silently snuck ahead. A moment later, she returned with news.

"There are two people ahead. One big, one small. Fighting vampires."

"Anyone we know?" Lin Bai asked.

"Yes. Tang San and his teacher, Yu Xiaogang."

The two worked together well. Blue Silver Grass restrained the vampires while Tang San struck vital points with hidden weapons. Yu Xiaogang stood behind, tearing pages from a book that turned into shimmering light, buffing Tang San and suppressing the vampires.

Zhu Zhuqing hadn't lingered and quickly returned to report.

"Could you tell what their professions are?" Lin Bai asked.

She shook her head.

"No… they're not ordinary warriors or mages. I don't recognize them."

Lin Bai frowned slightly. It wasn't surprising for Tang San to pick a hidden class. But Yu Xiaogang… that failure? How did he unlock a hidden class?

Ah — right. He recalled Yu Xiaogang's mutated Martial Spirit carried the bloodline of the Holy Light Dragon. Judging by his actions, though, Yu Xiaogang clearly hadn't picked a class related to that. He probably put his faith in his so-called 'knowledge.' In some ways, not a bad choice. At least it guaranteed a decent lower limit.

Thinking of their special status in this world, Lin Bai mulled it over, then gave his next order.

"Xiao Wu — you go grind in the werewolf passage for now. I'll catch up soon."

Neither of them questioned him. They exchanged a look, nodded slightly, and left. With their current strength, they could handle themselves.

Once they were out of sight, Lin Bai retrieved a set of black night-clothes from his storage ring and quickly changed. He had Ying Tian wait in place, then floated silently toward the vampire nest using his telekinesis.

A vast wave of mental energy spread through the area, locking onto every living thing inside.

Yu Xiaogang was the first to spot the figure in black. His expression changed drastically.

"San-er! Careful!"

Yu Xiaogang's shout came fast, and Tang San reacted immediately — but it didn't matter.

Lin Bai's telekinesis descended like an invisible, crushing tide. With a single thought, he pinned them both in place. The surrounding vampires were instantly wiped out, leaving only blood-red ashes. His Spiritual Master class EXP ticked upward.

"What classes did you pick?"

Lin Bai's voice had been altered. Neither of them would recognize him.

Tang San and Yu Xiaogang were completely immobilized.

"Answer me honestly. I'm just curious. Do it, and I'll let you go."

Tang San lay on the ground, trying to resist, but it felt like a mountain weighed on him. He could only glare at the black-clad figure in silent rage.

Lin Bai snorted.

"Quite the temper. Good. I like breaking stubborn brats."

His telekinesis grabbed Tang San by the legs and slammed him back and forth onto the stone floor.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

After a series of muffled impacts, Tang San finally lost consciousness.

"Stop! Stop it, I'll talk!" Yu Xiaogang finally cracked, his voice hoarse and desperate.

Lin Bai withdrew his power and stared down coldly.

"Good. Make it quick, and don't waste my time."

Yu Xiaogang let out a long sigh. In the face of overwhelming power, his cherished 'knowledge' was utterly useless.

"My class is called File Scholar. I gain small amounts of experience by copying new books. I can also burn mana to enchant these books, letting me cast spells through them. The more knowledge I gather, the stronger my spells."

His expression twisted in frustration.

"If I could get the world to recognize my martial theory, I could create a spellbook rivaling divine artifacts."

Lin Bai nearly laughed aloud. You? New theory? Good luck with that.

He glanced at Tang San's unconscious body.

"And this kid?"

Yu Xiaogang hesitated.

But the cold, oppressive force around him tightened.

Yu Xiaogang paled and gave in.

"His class is Hidden Blade Disciple. A hidden assassin-type profession. His attacks grow stronger the more unseen and prepared he is. It synergizes with his Blue Silver Grass Martial Spirit's control abilities."

Lin Bai's expression didn't change.

So it's not bad, but it's just a tool.

He flicked his wrist and sent Yu Xiaogang crashing into the wall. The man coughed blood and passed out next to Tang San.

Lin Bai turned, his figure vanishing into the shadows.

No need to kill them. Not yet.

He left only a whisper in the air.

"Grow stronger. I'll be waiting."
