I stood at the edge of the square, my hands gripping the railing, my heart thumping in my chest like a drumbeat I couldn't silence. The world around me was alive with colour, with sound, with the laughter of children, and the hum of anticipation. And yet, there was a hollowness in me, a tightness in my chest that I couldn't shake. Not with the festival finally underway. Not with the kingdom so desperately trying to heal. Not while we sprung one last mad gamble to trap Julia and end the war before it decimated everyone, before she released the watcher completely.
