Chapter 21 - Suhee's indifference - (1)

I stood there in silence, my secret revealed, the weight of what it meant hanging heavily on me.

Suhee felt betrayed, her face said everything. It was because I had hidden something so important from her.

Even Mr. Park was shocked when he heard it. Though his face stayed mostly unreadable, with his usual indifferent attitude, he still said something:

"I don't know why you hid something so important from us, but you must've had your reasons."

Suhee's behavior changed. She turned cold, distant, like I was a stranger to her. That hurt. Especially coming from someone I cherished.

As we exited the laboratory, an alarm started blaring. Someone had entered the compound.

Ms. Chaeyoon told us to follow her. She took us through a hidden exit behind the house, where a car was already waiting. We got in, and Mr. Park started driving. The intruders noticed us and jumped into their own cars to follow.

They started chasing us. But the narrow village roads worked in our favor, helping us escape.

We didn't stop, but instead we went to pick the village chief up. We knew it wouldn't be easy to convince him to join us, but we didn't have a choice.

When we arrived, the door was already open, and the village chief was on the ground, in his last moments.

Mr. Park immediately told Suhee to heal him. But Suhee said she didn't know how.

Mr. Park told her to try. To sense the ether in the air. To focus it in one point, and think of healing the person in front of her.

Suhee focused, trying her best. Slowly, she managed to gather the ether. It wasn't strong, but it was enough to pull the village chief back from the edge. She had saved him, barely.

We rushed him to the hospital. He had no visible wounds, only internal damage. This wasn't done with any normal weapon.

It was done using abilities.
