The sky was in disarray lightning splitting out of it following the trail of a single woman who glided through the sky while riding above her glowing swords.
Another bolt of lightning came toward her, looking at it the sword made up of light moved toward it rotating around as it covered her from the attack.
Morgana clicked her tongue as she looked at Jacob evading her strikes with ease.
"Is that all you can do? Throw some swords and hope to kill me, High priestess."
Not minding his words her figure shone in bright light as she got herself augmented in the Embrace of dawn.
Seeing the light Jacob's eye narrowed not giving her any chance to attack he made her body levitate and struck her with lighting.
Seeing the light come from the storm-filled sky her body lost control of her movements. Morgana canceled all her swords floating around and let all her focus on a single sword and swung it once breaking free from her restricted movements.
Morgana now lost her footing and fell from the sky, but she didn't panic. Instead, she used the momentum to her advantage, plummeting towards the earth below. The wind rushed past her ears, her long, dark hair whipping around her face.
As she neared the ground, she called upon her powers once more, and a pillar of light erupted beneath her, cushioning her fall. The impact sent shockwaves through the earth, sending rocks flying in every direction.
Morgan's face visibly distorted turning into a frown, she then turned the pillar of light into countless swords of light and launched them toward Jacob without waiting even for a moment.
Jacob swiftly conjured a shield of thunder in front of him, the swords clashed against it, the sound echoing through the battlefield. Each impact sent sparks flying like a spectacular firework display, but the shield held firm, not allowing a single blade to penetrate.
"...Pathetic"
This was the only word Jacob could think of right now. All the gangs and members of his group had been planning for ages for this moment. To create numerous horrors of humanity's monsters and release them free inside this city.
They had been making moves in the dark hiding like cowards all this time yet the problem they thought they would face came from not Morgana herself but from an unknown awakened who they knew nothing about.
Even Morgana seems to be struggling against his might. But the match was still in a stalemate.
He will change it the moment all preparations are done.
Morgana looked up at Jacob as he continued levitating on the sky surrounding himself in storm clouds.
Then she sighed before saying.
"You... talk too much." At that instant, her figure moved at a speed hard to see through.
A sonic boom echoed as an afterimage was left on her path as Morgana ascended towards the sky with her sword in hand.
Jacob quickly moved away toward the storm center upon sensing the danger but it was too late now. As he felt something near him he tried to levitate her, to slow down her speed quickly.
Morgana once again felt her weight be lifted upward but didn't back down either this time letting the skill do its work, she propelled herself even higher with the help of her hovering swords of light.
Her blade sang a deadly tune as it sliced through the air, aiming for the heart of the storm clouds surrounding Jacob.
Then all hell broke loose. The storm clouds grew more tumultuous as Morgana's blade approached, the lightning within them crackling with malicious intent.
Jacob's eyes narrowed as he focused his power, the electricity around him coalescing into a single, massive bolt.
"You dare challenge me?" he roared, the thunder in his voice matching the ferocity of the lightning in his hand.
Boom—!
From the sky pillar of lightning shot destroying everything in its path but Morgana was ready. Instead of dodging she raised her sword and added the attribute of darkness to it. The lightning struck the sword with full force, but instead of going through it, it was absorbed into the blade, making it crackle with power.
Then released it in his direction with another swing.
Jacob's eyes widened in surprise as he saw the lightning bend and change course, heading straight for him.
He had underestimated her.
With a roar, he redirected the bolt of lightning, sending it spiraling away from him, but it was too late.
Getting shot by his own attack he stumbled and crashed onto the ground with a grunt of pain. The land broke into pieces as he fell from the sky rain continued to pour down upon his battered body.
The armor cracked as it completely shattered upon the impact— taking the blow instead of him.
This way Jacob has managed to avoid a fatal wound from his own creation.
"So who is pathetic now?" Morgan asked as she examined Jacob, his condition was not the best a person should have but as a transcendent, she knew such wounds would heal in no time.
And time was something none could afford except a few individuals.
"Ask yourself... You will find the answer inside you" Jacob not letting her provoke him taunted back at her before standing up.
Morgana's lips twitched for a moment as he parted her lips to say something.
But Jacob stopped her as he shot another bolt of lightning from the storm creating some distance between them.
"The playtime is over... I have given them more than enough time to clear the dens, now their life is their own to deal with."
Saying that he levitated again in the sky his broken armor crumbling down with a loud thud, following that a loud explosion erupted from the clouds as a thunderclap happened all over the city.
"...What are you planning to do? At least tell it if we are going to die."
Even though Morgana was the one to say it, she felt that these words were not her own. That someone else was more suited to say them.
Jacob not giving her any attention anymore spread his arms as a barrier of lighting wrapped around him, swords of light once again came and continued to strike him like never before.
Each strike was precisely made to kill him, to rip him apart but Jacob was no less as well. To get rid of such attacks he would let the electricity pass through him at short intervals creating a force to repel them.
The barrier was made not for defense— It was to prepare for his biggest attack.
Boom—!
The sky roared as the black clouds seemed to darken, a shadow loomed over the whole city— Embracing it
Devouring it.
But this attack was not meant to kill Morgana rather it was for something else— Something even more sinister.
Lighting came down like a flash illuminating the city even in the middle of the night, it split apart into five thin long spears as it descended upon the city.
Morgana raised her sword to defend herself stopping her assault on the levitating Jacob.
But the attack never came toward her.
Morgana in her utter bafflement looked at the spears as they fell toward five different parts of the city like gods wrath themselves.
Four were at different corners of the city while the last one struck the Philip streets.
Boom—!
The ground beneath Morgana's feet trembled as the lightning spears struck the city. Each hit a different den, the secret hideouts of the monsters Jacob had unleashed. The explosions were deafening, sending plumes of fire and dust into the sky.
Jacob grinned as he looked down seeing the monsters come out one by one from the pits he had created. Screams of horrors and survival filled the dimly lighted city caught in the fire of Jacob's lighting.
Then his eyes looked at the top of a tall building near the hospital. His eyes narrowed as he squinted to see the silhouette of a lone figure.
He stood at the edge of the place, his figure shrouded in darkness as a cloak hid his body. Instead of a face, a white mask was present over it.
The cloak seemed to flutter in the wind along with his obsidian-like hair that felt as if it had blended in the night as the storm continued.
The distance between them was not much— diagonally they were nothing more than eight meters apart.
The masked figure raised his head and looked at Jacob with a neutral gaze. Or was it really neutral? Jacob couldn't tell.
But he knew leaving a variable would do him no good.
Morgana also gave the stranger a weird look seemingly unknown to his origins. But her attention seemed to be more on the waves of monsters as their houls filled the area along with the screams of innocent people as they ran out of their houses.
Jacob didn't waste anymore time and raised his hand to get rid of their silent observer.
Then he stopped unable to move— His time had been frozen.
Morgana looked at the levitating figure fixed between the storm and raised her sword with both hands aiming at him.
The space started to crack as it wrapped around her sword, colors of all kinds became visible through these cracks but she didn't mind them closing her eyes and focusing.
Flowers that were the shape of space that Morgan had broken down into pieces those colors came out like a river and She slashed it filling them in the color of dawn. The strike crossed the space instantly cutting down the clouds and air as it reached the figure of Jacob striking him along with the storm itself.
The storm split apart with a deafening roar of the sky as the clouds parted away along with Jacob's fall.
Morgana fell to her knees breathing heavily sweat rolling down her forehead as she looked at the sky with a tired gaze.
The stars were finally visible.
But the fight was far from over, Morgana looked at the masked figure as he fell on the roof losing his balance.
Monsters are coming from everywhere, she was low on origin to do anything but this was also under their preparation.
Taking out a small bottle from the storage ring she held it in a firm grip and opened it.
The liquid was a blend of green but of a much lighter color compared to the original Elixir. This was given to her by Asher after diluting it several times it can now not heal her fatal wounds but instead give her the origin she needs right now.
Staring at it for a moment she hesitated. Asher told her it worked after some experiments but she couldn't help but shudder at the thought of using it.
This same liquid has turned humans into creatures of beyond but now she was going to use it. Looking at one of the monsters rampaging near her trying to break into a closed house Morgana stood up.
And gulped down the liquid in one go. A sweet flavour filled her mouth but she couldn't help but frown even though the taste was sweet something was wrong with it.
A surge of energy filled her as she trembled for a moment her injuries were still there but now she could finally fight.
She looked over at the building Asher had fallen into but could only hope he was alright there.
Thinking like this she conjured two swords and stepped on them. She still had to hunt down the last remaining enemy.
