Chapter 8 - Rise Again

As soon as I arrived at the dormitory, I immediately chose to sleep. My body now felt extremely tired after all the events that happened today.

The next morning arrived. As usual, I enjoyed a glass of tea while gazing at the view outside. Then I remembered yesterday's incident. I couldn't believe I had been deceived so quickly, even by a kid.

I was also confused as to how that bastard knew I was just a commoner. Could he be a noble, able to easily know the information of all the new students? Even his rude way of speaking seemed to reflect the attitude of nobles in this world.

Damn, I still couldn't forget how humiliated I felt yesterday. I then immediately checked the mysterious book that I hadn't had the chance to open yesterday.

The eighth page of the book contained the following writing:

Hey, isn't today your first day at the academy?

Are you feeling very nervous right now?

Oh, and don't you have the class placement test later?

Do you feel confident about passing that test?

Haha, but I'm sure you'll definitely pass.

Because you've worked hard for a week now.

"Pass...? No... I won't pass that test."

I've had so many bad things happen yesterday.

Now everything's gotten even more chaotic since then.

I then continued reading the ninth page, which was quite long.

Hey, are you okay?

I feel really sad about what happened to you.

I'm also really angry when I saw you being humiliated.

I'm really worried about you right now.

I hope you're okay at this moment.

But now is not the time for this.

Now is the time for us to get back at that bastard.

Don't you want to beat that sneaky bastard?

That's why you need to rise up and start your new goal.

For some reason, reading those words really touched me. One by one, his words seeped into my heart. I, who had been down, slowly began to rise again.

"You're right... This is not the time to be sad. This is the time to train, to beat that bastard someday."

I now felt much more at ease. I immediately hurried to the academy to attend my classes.

Upon arriving at Class 1-I, a few students had already arrived. I walked past them and chose to sit at the back. They looked at me with disdain. It seemed the argument from yesterday had ruined my reputation from the very first day.

Damn...

But I chose not to think about it and focused on the lesson.

The afternoon came. The class had ended. Some students appeared to have already made friends. As I had expected, I was ignored by them. But I didn't really mind, since I preferred to be alone anyway.

I returned to my dorm room feeling tired. All the lessons today felt really difficult for me. However, little by little, I started to understand them.

Without wasting any time, I resumed my training that had been interrupted. I repeatedly performed filtering until nightfall. Even after trying filtering 52 times, it still yielded no results. I would have to try again tomorrow.

A week passed. I had started to understand some of the lesson materials. However, I was still being avoided by the students in my class. Luckily, there were a few other students who also chose to be alone, which made me feel a little more at ease.

Throughout this week, I went through my usual routine. I also never forgot to check the mysterious book every day.

The tenth page contained the following text:

It seems you don't have any friends, huh?

Haha... You don't need to be sad about that.

You still have me who is with you right now.

I only had one friend back when I was in school.

Although we often fought, we became closer in the end.

His words were really beautiful. For some reason, he always knew how to comfort me when I was feeling down. What a mysterious person.

The eleventh page only had a short sentence:

Hey... I'm feeling unwell right now, so I'll just greet you briefly.

That writing surprised me a bit. So... he can even feel pain? With that, it became clearer that he wasn't just some ghost.

The twelfth page contained a tease:

Hey, how's your training going right now?

Can you master it yet?

Of course not, right? Hahaha...

You know, even a newborn baby might learn it faster than you. Hahaha...

I couldn't say anything except curse after reading that.

The thirteenth page contained a question about favorite food:

Hey, what's your favorite food?

My favorite food is a burrito with corn and mayonnaise inside.

I remember eating it for the first time with my friend.

That reminded me of the burritos my mom used to make, which made me want to cry.

"My favorite food, huh?"

Honestly, I was too confused to answer the question.

"My favorite food might be a meat pie with grated cheese on top."

I remembered eating it when I first went to the amusement park with my family. That day was really fun, and it was a time that could never be repeated.

Then on the thirteenth page, he wrote his correction on my training, which was still full of mistakes.

Hey, what have you been doing since yesterday?

Your Filtering is now too forced, making the mana inside you wild.

Don't focus on your mana core just yet.

Focus on managing the mana inside your body first.

This time, he gave me advice that was quite helpful. Thanks to that, my ability to control mana began to improve, as well as the process of forming the mana core, though it still wasn't successful yet.

The fourteenth page contained praise for my progress yesterday:

You're amazing.

Just with a single word from me, you immediately found the best way to improve.

How did you do it, huh?"

Haha, you always surprise me.

One word, huh? No. It wasn't just a word. It was a spark that helped me develop.

The fifteenth page, this time, he talked about the black cat I had taken in yesterday.

Hey, I see you brought a new face into your room.

It's so adorable and cute.

Damn... I wish I could touch and hold it.

Seeing his jealousy and frustration made me a little entertained. The black cat I had taken in yesterday was indeed very adorable with its thick fur.

I found it stuck in a tree near the field. This cat was a bit different from the ones I knew in my old world. Its long ears were like a rabbit's, and its sharp-scaled tail made it look fierce. But its fierce appearance was masked by its very cute face.

It kept following me wherever I went after that. Then I decided to bring it to my dorm and take care of it. It became my companion whenever I felt lonely.

And finally, on the sixteenth page.

He asked about the festival that would be held next month. The festival was the Kano Winter Days Festival, organized by the current King of the Salvadoras Kingdom, Beuan Nobru.

Hey, do you know the winter festival that will be held next month?

I heard there will be a lot of food there.

I wish I could go there and enjoy it.

I only ever joined the tomato festival back in the day.

But you know, everything ended up being a mess.

My body turned really red after that.

I couldn't sleep for three days just to clean it up.

A festival, huh? I remember my sister talking about it back in the village. But what's so interesting about a festival? Wouldn't it be better if I trained harder instead?

I then hurried to continue my training. I must master the mana core right now.
