Two days passed.
Alexandra sat in her office, hunched over a small project with Willa. The room was quiet, save for the scratch of her pen and the occasional him of her computer.
Most of their big gigs had vanished into thin air. It was unnatural. She had garnered so many enemies that she didn't know which one was pulling the strings to make her miserable.
Sierra? Helen?
Maybe both.
With a sigh, she leaned back in her chair, gazing at the ceiling in exhaustion.
Then her phone rang.
She glanced at the screen, then picked up. "Hello?"
"Alex, how have you been?"
Lauren's cheerful voice practically burst through the speaker.
She smiled faintly. "I'm good. How is the business?"
"Thriving, as always. That's one of the reasons I called. The company is hosting a charity gala tomorrow evening, and I want you to come." Lauren informed her.
A charity gala?
Alex sat up straighter, her curiosity piqued.
