Etien swallowed hard, his throat felt like it'd been slashed by a blade. Sharp. Brutal. Enough to knock his heart clean out of place. Yeah... it was that shocking.
They were standing so close it went past tense and dove straight into intense. Etien could practically smell Glen from that distance.
What exactly had Glen been doing lately? Just showing up in Winterbraun out of nowhere, not once, but twice, without so much as a heads-up or asking for permission. Using that portal like it was his personal doorway.
While Etien was still distracted, Glen walked over to the side of the training hall where all the gear was kept. He set down both staffs, the ones they'd just been sparring with, then casually strolled back toward the Duke, who hadn't moved a muscle.
"Did my arrival really throw you off that much?" Glen asked, snapping Etien out of his stunned silence.
"I was just surprised. How did you know I was here, Your Majesty?"
