Chapter 14 - The Butcher

Aria, Amir, and Oroc were restrained to a chair. With sacks still covering their heads, they heard the sounds of scraping metals. Amir flinched anytime the metals scrapped. All of a sudden the bags were taken off their heads. They squinted, letting their eyes adjust to the bright light.

"Seekers, you people always try to steal from me," The man said as he scraped two metals against each other. Oroc fought his restraints as he tried to break free.

"We did not come to steal from you. We came for what is ours," Amir said. He looked around for something that could aid their escape.

"I don't blame you. That's the world we live in. We do what we need to survive," the man said and began cutting into the skin of Amir's forehead.

As Amir screamed he did not stop. Instead, he pulled his skin back and exposed the bone beneath.

"If only I had the tools I needed, my work would be easier," He stated before he put down the scalpel and walked out.

Oroc manifested his weapon, but he could not swing it. Amir placed the blade at the end of his weapon on his feet. He tossed it to Oroc to pry open his restraints.

Unfortunately, the man walked back in before he could do anything.

"I assume you are climbing the tower to destroy the horn. You would be so surprised when you get to the top," the man mentioned the moment he walked into the room. Oroc's weapon disappeared instantly.

"You have been to the top?" Oroc asked and frowned.

"Yes, of course. The tower has been here forever. You newly awakened think you are special. You always think you can change things. If it was that easy, I would have done it," the man lamented and took a seat.

"So what is at the top of the tower?" Aria asked, then looked at the others.

"Oh no, I can not tell you that. You need to experience the climb by yourselves. I was just like you if you can climb after the operation. You guys should look me up, Hugo Cain was what I was called. Now they all call me The Butcher. It doesn't matter that I put them back together.

—Luckily for me, the White King gave me another chance. To prove myself, I was given a new purpose," The Butcher said, just before a patch guard walked in.

"Where have you been? I have been waiting for you. I think you need to be reprogrammed," The Butcher said and took a handsaw from him.

The saw had a double blade that moved when they turned a handle.

"It has been lonely here, not being able to talk to actual people. I enjoyed our talk, know you would be missed," The Butcher said but before he could get to Amir.

The Patch Guard hit him in the head with a box. He quickly freed Oroc, Aria, and Amir.

"You, you are the guard I stabbed with the key," Amir screamed immediately he recognized him.
