Not just anyone knows what a woman serving means by running. It's physically, emotionally and all the man power that it requires.
THAT AFTERNOON
Tim came with a file and a notebook sitting across from me and I came with the picture evidence and the drawings. I had made sure that Q was out of sight. I couldn't afford distractions and he was one. Every cell in my body yearned for him. Screamed for him to drown me in the fire his gazes always promised. But I didn't have time. I wish I did.
I hadn't noticed Tim staring at me. I didn't know for how long but I didn't remember his eyes being so unreadable.
"Shocking I know." I said and he lifted one of the blank papers I hadn't revealed yet, between two fingers.
"It's a blank paper."
"I wish. Do you still smoke? Can I have your lighter?"
I held the paper up and floated the paper above the flame and a picture formed. My face. This time my eyes closed and there was a large hand over my throat and a window behind my figure in the picture. I took a deep breath in. The seemed to be getting more and more....freaky, yeah, freaky.
"He seems to know your....kinks?" Tim comments that and I sighed at him with a glare. He wasn't wrong but this wasn't the time to bring that up.
"How observant of you. But is there anything that can be done?" I asked and he leaned back in his chair.
"We can't really act when there hasn't been threat to the victims life but, because I owe you one for saving my life once, I can put in a word with my buddy." Some kind of weight lifted after hearing that. I was willing to wait and get as many answers as possible.
"Thank you. But also you know anyone that can do some private digging up for me?" Time nodded. Thank God.
"Guy called Bart, he's one of the best in the base and well he's uncovered alot of dirty laundry he can do this for you. Don't worry, this has become my priority number one." I smiled. I almost think the anxiety that had been taking me over for days finally disappear.
"This guy your suspecting....new Dom? New toy?" He asks as he takes out a cigarette for himself and lights it awaiting my answer.
"Our contract ended. That included talking about this even at the end of the contract." He smiles and that almost nearly sets me off. Damn rage bait, and he knows I would easily fall into it.
"Baby I know, but you said this before 'Nothing ever really truly started for it to end with us'" he says and I freeze. I had put all that behind me. I had been a curious stupid, desperate sixteen year old at that time. And if that damn stalker though he knew me, he knew nothing compared to what Time unleashed those two years ago.
"No he isn't. Could be a good lay, but I don't think he can handle....the world you pulled me into." I said and that sent shivers down my spine. This man sitting infront of me was the cruelest but most selfless man I had ever met. He showed me pain and he showed me how to embrace it.
"I'm flattered but don't take him too fast on that one." He chuckled and raised his glass. Fuck this all.
My phone buzzed once, twice and I turned the screen upside down. This was my time with Tim. Still we let the silence settle between us before my phone buzzed again.
"Who could that be? I'm sorry Tim I need to take this." I say and he waves me off as I pick up the call.
"Genn?" She never called. Not even when she had a minor emergency. I pressed my phone against my ear.
"H-have you seen Fel?" No greetings, very straight to the point. My words jumbled up as I answered her.
"No I haven't. Why?"
"She isn't with you?" Her voice was breaking and she was panicking. My heart dropped. I hadn't seen Fel since our fight the other night. And I hadn't called or texted her either.
"What's going on? Please speak no long stories. Why are you asking if I've seen Fel." I asked. Tim leaned forward and I put the phone on speaker.
"Because her roommate reported her missing. She didn't come back after her morning breakfast shopping. She hasn't been seen anywhere." My brain shut off. I had brain dead. Missing. That word. Not on my friend I would never recover from that word alone for a while. Where could fel have gone?
"He knows. Venice he knows you're taking action on him. I'll get my people on this within the net twelve hours." I didn't answer him I didn't move. Hands descended on my shoulders and shook me once and surely.
"Move Venice. You're not safe here."
