Jack's POV
"Are you fine?"
I sighed and nodded for the fifth time that night.
That was the fifth time she had asked me if I was fine since we got into the car. I didn't even count the number of times she had asked if I was fine while we were at home.
I had done my best to act like I was fine but I couldn't pretend that I wasn't. My hands gripped the wheels as if I was fighting hard for my life.
I saw her nod her head from the periphery of my eyes and knew when she looked away that she was mad at me again. I let out an exasperated sigh, hating what Melissa was doing to me...and to my marriage.
"You should have told me you changed your mind about having me as your date to the ball instead of giving me an attitude." She hissed, while still looking out of the window.
I turned to her, slipped one of my hands off the wheels and extended it towards her. She didn't turn away from the window but didn't shake my hand off either. That was encouraging.
