Chapter 75 - Chapter 75: The Furuyama Clan

The Uchiha Clan's Sharingan manifests in three stages from its initial awakening—Single Tomoe, Double Tomoe, and Triple Tomoe.

Each of these forms grants an Uchiha superior abilities compared to ordinary shinobi: the Single Tomoe enhances perception, the Double Tomoe heightens dynamic vision and the ability to cast genjutsu, while the Triple Tomoe enables near-perfect replication of techniques.

Among them, the primary ability of the Double Tomoe Sharingan is its capacity to unleash genjutsu.

As the tomoe in Shōgetsu Uchiha's eyes spun wildly, he called out:

"Genjutsu: Sharingan."

His sudden declaration instantly drew the attention of Renbu Furuyama and Pachira. The moment their gazes met Shōgetsu's, they were ensnared, falling into the depths of his illusion.

In their vision, a massive Double Tomoe Sharingan loomed above them, its oppressive presence dominating their entire field of view.

"This is bad!"

Realizing the abrupt shift in reality, Renbu and Pachira immediately understood that they had fallen into Shōgetsu's genjutsu.

Though they were only genin from Kumogakure, they had long heard of the infamous power of the Uchiha. Now, for the first time, they were experiencing it firsthand.

With both trapped in the illusion, Veigar Koshima, Hoshino Sarutobi, and Kōtarō Akiyama all moved in unison to eliminate their immobilized foes.

Veigar's blade was poised to end Renbu's life, while Hoshino and Kōtarō aimed their kunai at Patchira's throat and heart, ready to strike fatal blows.

"Ugh…!"

Behind them, Shōgetsu let out a stifled groan of pain, fresh blood seeping from his eyes.

This was the price of overexerting his ocular power.

Having only recently awakened his Double Tomoe Sharingan, casting genjutsu on two shinobi of comparable strength was a considerable strain.

Moreover, his previous fight with Renbu had already drained a portion of his visual prowess. At this moment, his Sharingan's power was completely exhausted—he would need time to recover before he could use it again.

Yet, despite this setback, Shōgetsu found it worthwhile.

Earlier, they had nearly fallen into a trap set by the Cloud shinobi, and Hoshino had almost lost his life. Without intervention, their chances of passing the second round of the Chūnin Exams were slim. The frustration had been building within him.

So, when Veigar had coldly declared his intent to kill, Shōgetsu had immediately seized the opportunity, launching a preemptive genjutsu assault on Renbu and Pachira.

It was both an act of vengeance and a reaffirmation of his Uchiha pride.

While he appreciated Veigar for saving Hoshino, as a proud member of the Uchiha Clan, he couldn't allow Veigar to steal his moment of dominance.

As the genjutsu dissipated, Renbu regained awareness, his eyes filled with horror—only for Veigar's blade to sever his throat in a single, decisive strike.

Renbu Furuyama became the second shinobi that Veigar had beheaded that day.

Meanwhile, Pachira, freed from the illusion due to Shōgetsu's exhaustion, sensed the overwhelming killing intent from Hoshino and Kōtarō.

Reacting instantly, he executed the Substitution Jutsu—an escape plan he had prepared before falling under Shōgetsu's genjutsu.

The lack of speed in Hoshino and Kōtarō's attacks gave Pachira just enough time to slip away.

Had it been Veigar attacking instead, Pachira would have already been dead.

However, Veigar's blade still found its mark—piercing straight through Pachira's chest.

The moment Pachira had teleported to his escape location, Veigar had already anticipated his movement.

Using the Teleportation Jutsu, he pursued Pachira in an instant, arriving at the exact spot where the enemy had emerged.

"Cough… The Furuyama Clan… won't… let you… get away with this…"

Blood trickled from Pachira's lips as he struggled to hold onto life for just a moment longer.

His gaze lingered on Renbu's lifeless body before he issued a final, broken warning.

The Furuyama Clan—one of Kumogakure's two great shinobi clans—held a status in the village comparable to the Senju or Uchiha before their decline.

Konoha's founding had been led by Hashirama Senju and Madara Uchiha.

Similarly, Kumogakure had been established by two noble clans—the Yotsuki Clan and the Furuyama Clan.

Earlier, the Cloud jōnin had hesitated to intervene precisely because of Renbu's ties to the Furuyama Clan.

In Kumogakure, the Furuyama Clan shared many similarities with the Uchiha of Konoha.

Despite being one of the village's founding clans, they had never produced a Raikage, much like how the Uchiha had never ascended to the position of Hokage.

During the battle for the title of First Raikage, the Furuyama Clan's representative had lost to the Yotsuki Clan's leader.

From that point onward, the position of Raikage had remained firmly in the hands of the Yotsuki Clan. Every Raikage since had abandoned their birth name, adopting the title of 'A' instead.

Renbu Furuyama had been a direct descendant of that lineage.

Pachira's final words carried weight because, while Renbu might not have been the clan's strongest heir—far from it, in fact, as many of his kin matched his prowess—he had the advantage of a powerful father and an influential grandfather who doted on him greatly.

Now, Renbu was dead at the hands of Konoha's genin—killed by Veigar Koshima.

This was why Pachira was so certain—the Furuyama Clan would come for revenge.

They were fiercely protective of their own.

Veigar committed Pachira's dying words to memory, but his expression remained indifferent.

With the battle settled, he casually wiped the blood from his ninjatō, which had already claimed multiple lives that day.

Then, reaching down, he retrieved a scroll from Pachira's corpse. Tossing it toward Hoshino along with the scroll they had looted from the Grass ninja, he spoke calmly:

"Catch."

The raw did not say Chinoike (Blood Lagoon) clan, but Furuyama (Distant Mountain) clan.
