Nowadays, Mayu usually spent her time playing at the café and came back home to sleep at night, sometimes she also stayed with the manager, whatever Mayu felt like doing was fine.
When she got downstairs, Mayu immediately saw the two little girls who looked almost exactly alike, with only their hair color being different.
Having no concept of what "twins" even were, Mayu exclaimed in surprise, "They actually look the same? Why is that?"
At the same time, Yasuhisa Kurona and Yasuhisa Nashiro had also naturally noticed Mayu come down.
What they had also noticed was that Mayu had just called Uchiha Byakuya and Yoshimura Eto "Papa" and "Mama," so obviously they really thought this little girl was the daughter of Byakuya and Eto.
That surprised them a bit, because in their eyes, that Nii-san and Nee-san still looked so young, it felt like they were only a few years older than them and yet they already had a daughter who looked about the same age as them.
However, even their own father didn't look like he was from the same generation as Byakuya and Eto.
Because of this, Kurona and Nashiro felt a bit reserved when facing Mayu.
"Sorry for disturbing you."
Kurona said very politely.
Nashiro was the one who then answered Mayu's earlier question, "Because Nashiro and I are twins, that's why we look alike."
"Twins? What's that?"
Mayu hadn't even heard this word before. She hadn't gone to school yet, and being mostly self-taught, she hadn't come across this knowledge.
This question stumped both Kurona and Nashiro.
They only knew that since they were twins, they looked almost exactly the same as their counterpart but they didn't understand it in any more detail.
The two sisters exchanged glances, but neither could find the answer in the other's eyes.
"You can just look it up online."
Byakuya handed Mayu his phone, which already had the relevant information pulled up.
"Here, this is what it means."
Mayu nodded, took the phone, and sat on the nearby sofa to study it slowly.
"You two can go upstairs and check out the rooms first. I'll carry your luggage up for you."
Byakuya said to Kurona and Nashiro.
Afterward, both Kurona and Nashiro eventually chose the same room.
They had always lived together, practically inseparable, and even slept in the same bed.
So now that they were at Byakuya's place, they still shared the same bedroom.
Byakuya already knew that the two sisters were always together, so he didn't ask much.
Once the room was more or less set up, Kurona and Nashiro came downstairs again.
They planned to get to know Mayu, because in their eyes, Mayu was clearly an important part of this home, while the two of them were just outsiders.
But just as they came downstairs, Suzuya Juuzou had also arrived to play with Mayu.
And now, they saw another unfamiliar boy.
Kurona softly asked, "Is that your older brother or younger brother?"
"Nope, he's my best friend. His name is Juuzou Suzuya."
Mayu then asked, "By the way, your names are Yasuhisa Kurona and Yasuhisa Nashiro, right?"
She had already heard about Kurona and Nashiro from her Papa and Mama earlier, so she knew their names.
"Yes, I'm Kurona."
The latter nodded.
"I'm Nashiro."
Nashiro also nodded.
"Then from now on, I'll call you Kurona and Nashiro. We're friends now!"
Mayu said with a cheerful smile.
"Friends…"
Kurona and Nashiro both paused slightly.
Although they had gone to school, they had never had anything like akin to a friend.
At school, they were always quiet and withdrawn, barely if ever interacting with any of their classmates.
In Kurona's eyes, there was only Nashiro; and in Nashiro's, only Kurona.
Even though it felt a little strange, since Mayu was clearly an important member of this household, they could only go along with it.
Just like that, Kurona and Nashiro temporarily moved in with Byakuya.
However, Byakuya and Eto obviously weren't home all the time. With the TSC, Shoei Publishing, and other matters aside, they also spent most of their daytime hours at Kamii University.
They weren't quite comfortable leaving Kurona and Nashiro at home alone.
After all, Mayu wasn't home most of the time either.
So they decided Kurona and Nashiro would spend their days at the Anteiku Café and return home to sleep at night like Mayu usually would.
Also, being around the kind and gentle people of Anteiku would help the girls recover from their grief more quickly.
Before bringing them to Anteiku, Byakuya had also explained the sisters' situation to the manager and others.
"Wow! Byakuya-kun, you really brought Kurona and Nashiro here!"
Since Byakuya had already told them about Kurona and Nashiro, Kirishima Hikari of course already knew of them.
Now seeing them in person, Hikari looked absolutely delighted. "Such adorable twin sisters. Arata, wouldn't it be great if we could have a pair of twins too?"
Arata just gave a slightly troubled, embarrassed smile. "That would be kind of difficult."
After all, whether one would have twins or not was pretty much pure luck.
The café was full of strangers, and the shy, timid Kurona and Nashiro appeared a bit nervous.
Kurona was doing slightly better, while Nashiro subtly positioned herself behind her sister.
But the pretty Nee-san in front of them, Hikari, at least gave them a sense of warmth, helping them to relax a little.
"Welcome. This is the Café 'Anteiku'. We're all friends of Byakuya and Eto, so there's no need for you to be nervous or scared."
At that moment, Yoshimura Kuzen walked out carrying two cups of coffee and spoke to Kurona and Nashiro, "Since this is your first time here, why don't you try some of our coffee?"
"Okay. Thank you."
Kurona sat down at one of the seats and accepted one of the cups of coffee.
Nashiro also sat next to her sister and joined in tasting the coffee Yoshimura Kuzen had brewed himself.
Though it was their first time drinking coffee, Yoshimura Kuzen had heavily adjusted the flavor to be suitable for children, and they found it quite tasty.
Their moods immediately relaxed a bit. It seemed like everyone here was truly kind, just like Byakuya-niisan and Eto-neesan.
By now, they obviously had learned the names of the people they loved with.
Of course, Byakuya and Eto hadn't told them that most of the people in this café were actually ghouls, so as not to frighten Kurona and Nashiro.
