The air stood still, time dragged, all I did was watch Marcus as he tried to spit out why several guys wanted his life.
"Who do u say your family has connections with?" I demanded once again, expecting results.
"... the divine... g-goddess of werefox and the royal family of nine tail foxes..." He said in a calm voice.
For some reason unknown, I wasn't surprised, it was like I was expecting it all along.
"U don't seem to be shocked" he looked at me, expecting that I would be surprised.
"I understand that u have a connection with them but that isn't a good reason why they want your head" that was my point of view and it's an obvious one.
"They are not after my head, they want to take me captive. U see... My family is like a gatekeeper, we possess keys to dungeons filled with terrible monsters and creatures."
I began to understand what was happening. He was making a point.
"Not only terrible monsters but also powerful gems and mana stones" he concluded as the last piece of the puzzle was placed correctly in my head.
My eyebrows were raised up, now I got to understand what was going on. They were after him because he has keys to secret dungeons filled with essential items not to talk of the monsters in it.
"The monsters there helps to increase your skill and abilities, a vampire like you could have a taste of so many types of blood and their latent potentials." Marcus added, I found delight in his words.
"But it all ends in the risk of losing your life, not all are as weak as you think they are.." his words were like poison to my ears I stared at him in disgust.
Marcus glanced at his watch, "I guess it is time to head back, I am not asking u but it's a demand. I need you to come with me" he demanded, I was puzzled by his words.
"What do u mean I have to come along?" It was a dumb question to ask but it was necessary.
"U need to learn about your people and u need to grow stronger. U also saved my life so allow me to pay back" he urged and I saw this as the moment I needed.
"Ok fine..." I hesitated.
"... But first I have to call my mum, I want to tell her that I won't make it home tonight" I completed my speech.
Marcus rolled his eyes, "I can't just believe someone like u still stays under your parents roof."
"Hey!!! Don't judge me here, u don't know about me" I defended myself, I watched as Marcus raised his hands in total defeat.
I had my words with my mum, feeding her up with lies on how I will stay back because of work, luckily she bought the idea.
"Ok then I am ready let's move" I eagerly said as I tried to dust my clothes.
"There is no need to try and clean off the stain of blood on your clothes, u will get a new one when u reach."
"If u say so then." I said, waiting for him to lead the way.
He stared at me and looked over to a wall. I also looked at it and wandered what he had in mind.
"The way to my home is over there" Marcus points over to the wall, Are u kidding me?
"Are u joking!!?" I asked in a sarcastic manner.
He shakes his head, "no I am not, do u trust me?" He demanded.
"U-um I guess?" I replied.
"Good. Follow me" it sounded more like he was begging me to come along.
I followed him to the Wall, I wondered what magic he was going to perform.
"U need to be quick" I suggested as he understood what I meant.
He raised his hands up high, it began to have an effect on the atmosphere around. A chilling breeze could be felt.
A sinister sound began to take space in my eardrum just as a pink-like mirror began to surface on the wall.
It now dawned on me what Marcus actually did, I was standing before a portal.
"W-wow this is incredible" I couldn't find words to describe what I just witnessed.
"Yh, this is a portal sir. Allen". Him addressing me as sir felt weird.
"Quick, let's go in" he implored me as I yielded to his instructions.
When I finally arrived on the other side, It looked much more than what I had in mind.
I was in a different world, the air I breathed was just enough to tell me so.
I appeared within a building, stuffed with sand like sculptures and statues, designed in ways which could only be comparable with a castle. It was a castle, so I learnt after asking Marcus.
A group of maids approached us, dressed in maiden attire with a wild grin across their faces.
"Good to see you back master Marcus" they said in unison. Looking at our dress, the smile on their face changed to a worrisome expression.
"Master Marcus are u alright?" He was questioned by one of the maids. I felt invincible at that point seeing as the great 'Master Marcus' was taken care of.
"Didn't you see my guest over here? He is the one you should ask those questions, he saved my life" those gospel of Master Marcus turned his maids gaze towards me.
Looking at me with a tender smile, "thank u so much for saving our masters life, we are all now indebted to u." It sounded weird but this is what I will have to get used to.
"Show him where he can freshen up and inform everyone around that I am back" Marcus commanded.
"Yes sir, I will also like u to know that it would soon be time for dinner" the maidens reminded Marcus.
Marcus scratched his hair, he was delighted that he hasn't missed dinner.
"Alright, prepare my guest for that.." he ordered-- turning towards me he smiled
"Keep your phone and other items u might need on earth safe, we don't really use phones here". I didn't expect such but I had no choice.
I checked my phone and all I saw was No Signal. This would be great because I don't want any disturbance on my quest to know more and grow stronger.
"Take him to the guest room." Marcus voice echoed through the veranda.
"Yes sir."
