Chapter 50
The sailors tried to gather around us cautiously with their spears raised, trying their best to look threatening. I was pretty damn sure that they weren't cultists, just working men caught in a very unfortunate, melodramatic situation that they knew nothing about.
"Stand down!" Donald barked at them. That smug tone alone made me want to throw him overboard. The sailors obeyed, immediately lowering their weapons.
Donald stepped forward with a dramatic flair, the cultists falling into formation beside him. Axe-Guy rested his massive weapon on one shoulder with a bored expression. Magic Lady was twirling a glowing red spark between her fingers, watching me like I was an insect she couldn't wait to squash. The sailors parted ways for us to move forward, towards each other.
Laine, as expected, shuffled a little behind me, preparing to use my body as a human shield if things got out of hand.
"Is this all I'm worth to you?" I muttered.
