Chapter 25 - FIGHT 2

**************************************************************************************

Writer: [Typing furiously, muttering to themselves] "Okay, two phases...sentient elf...divine trolling...this is getting out of hand."

Mei (reading the updated mission briefing): "Another boss fight? Seriously? And a two-phase one at that. G is really testing our limits."

Kiana (eyes wide at the "two phases" part): "Two phases?! Does that mean twice the explosions? Twice the things trying to eat us? This is way more exciting than my usual Tuesdays!"

Captain (massaging his temples): "Two phases...just what we needed. After the giant lizard and whatever V is fighting... I swear, my blood pressure is reaching critical levels."

Rita (a thoughtful expression on her face): "Two phases...an interesting design choice. It suggests a creature of significant power and adaptability. We shall have to be meticulous in our approach."

Theresa (peeking over Rita's shoulder): "Two phases? Ugh, more paperwork if we have to write a report on how we beat it. Can't we just... not?"

Bronya: "...The Bronya's data banks are reaching maximum capacity for 'things V has attracted.' Probability of a third phase being introduced is... concerning."

Kiana: "Uninstall reality? Bronya, you're speaking my language! Can we get a group discount on that?"

Captain (staring blankly ahead): "Therapy...twelve times...at least I'll have a frequent flyer status for mental breakdowns."

Mei (watching V on the monitor redirect the plasma beam): "He's... surprisingly calm about all of this. Redirecting a laser the size of a truck like it's swatting a fly."

Kiana: "That's just V being V. Emotionless and somehow still cooler than all of us combined."

Bronya: "The Bronya detects a 3.7% increase in dimensional instability. Attempting to fold space-time with bare hands remains illogical."

Kiana: "Okay, but seriously, can we go help him now? This 'watching V almost die for our entertainment' hour is starting to make me feel a little guilty."

Captain (pointing a shaky finger at the screen where Rita was): "She said, 'I'll handle it myself'! That was her plan! And now we have a Honkai-infused dragon because of it!"

Rita (sipping her tea serenely): "My apologies, Captain. A slight miscalculation in assessing the... collateral damage. However, the data gathered on V's capabilities has proven invaluable."

Captain (voice cracking): "'Teamwork makes the dream work' does not translate to 'release a biblical monster upon a major metropolitan area'!"

Mei (a small smile playing on her lips): "You have to admit, for someone who claims to dislike chaos, V certainly generates a lot of it."

Theresa: "Honestly, I'm just impressed nothing has exploded into a million glittery pieces yet. Knowing our luck..."

Bronya: "The Bronya registers an incoming message. Designation: G. Analyzing..."

Kiana: "Ooh, a new message! Maybe it's a cheat code for the two-phase boss!"

Mei (reading the message aloud, her eyebrow twitching): "'Hi again~ Just added another boss fight! And this one's got TWO phases. You're welcome! (≧∀≦)'"

Bronya: "...The Bronya would like to uninstall reality now."

Kiana: "Same."

Captain (to no one in particular): "How much do you think therapy costs after saving the world twelve times?"

Mei (shaking her head slowly): "This is beyond ridiculous. It's almost... comical."

Rita (a faint smile playing on her lips): "Indeed. The sheer audacity is... almost admirable."

Theresa: "Can we at least get hazard pay for dealing with this divine level of trolling?"

[Back to V on the monitor]

V (quietly): "I swear, if I survive this, I'm deleting every divine entity from my contacts list."

[The massive dragon roars, a blinding light fills the screen, and V launches himself into the sky.]

Mei (blinking in disbelief): "...He's soloing the drake."

Kiana: "...With style."

Bronya: "...And minimal emotional expression."

Captain (rubbing his eyes wearily): "Someone get him a medal. And a nap. And maybe a girlfriend. Someone stable."

Rita (leaning forward slightly, a glint in her eyes): "I volunteer for the last one."

Mei, Kiana, Captain, Theresa, and Bronya: [stare at Rita in unison]

Kiana: "...Rita!"

Rita (smiling serenely): "I merely appreciate talent. And dedication to the mission."

Captain (groaning): "I swear, I'm surrounded by beautiful lunatics."

Mei (a wry smile): "That's why you fit right in, Captain."

[The screen cuts to static, then black. The message appears: "Mission Complete – Sacred Key Secured. Status: V – Alive (somehow)"]

Captain (slumping further into his chair): "I need a vacation. A long, silent vacation on a deserted island with no gods, no Honkai, and definitely no V."

Rita: "Shall I plan one for us, Captain? I know a lovely volcanic resort with-"

Captain (groaning louder): "No. No more 'relaxing' in volcanoes, Rita."

Mei (chuckling softly): "Perhaps a quiet spa then, Captain?"

Kiana: "With all-you-can-eat snacks!"

Bronya: "The Bronya recommends a location with minimal probability of divine intervention."

Theresa: "And absolutely no surprise boss fights."

[Everyone laughs, a mixture of relief and exhaustion in their voices. The screen fades out.]

Kiana, Bronya, and Mei were in the midst of evacuating civilians, a somber task under a sky heavy with an unknown dread.

Kiana: "Hey Mei, any idea what's causing all this chaos?"

Mei: "I wish I knew, Kiana. But right now, all that matters is getting everyone to safety."

Kiana: "Hmmph. What about you, Bronya? Got any brilliant insights?"

Bronya:" Bronya does not know the cause. Even if Bronya did, it is unlikely Simpleton would comprehend the explanation."

Kiana:" What was that, you little brat? Looking for a fight?"

Bronya: "If Simpleton insists."

Mei stepped between them before their bickering could escalate.

Mei: "Enough, both of you! We have more pressing matters at hand."

Bronya: "Forgive me, Mei Onee-sama. But have we not already evacuated all civilians to the designated vessels? There should be nothing left for us to do here."

Kiana:" Yeah, what she said."

Mei offered a wry smile at Bronya's bluntness.

Before she could respond, a deafening roar echoed through the air.

The trio turned as one, their eyes widening at the sight of a colossal, dragon-like creature descending from the turbulent sky.

Kiana: "What in the world is that thing?!"

Mei: "Oh, heavens..."

Bronya remained silent, her gaze fixed on the monstrous being. Just as shock threatened to paralyze them, Bronya's communicator crackled to life.

Snapping out of her stupor, she answered.

Bronya:" This is Bronya Report."

Captain:" Bronya, before we proceed, are all three of you accounted for?"

Bronya: "Affirmative."

Captain: "I see... Good. We've just received a report from Rita. She has managed to approach the Holy Key, but it appears to be immovable."

Bronya:" So, are we going to retreat?"

Captain: "...Under normal circumstances, yes. However, the divine key immense size is preventing immediate relocation."

Bronya: "What are our orders?"

Captain: "Rita suggests... neutralizing the creature."

Bronya: "..."

Captain:" I understand it sounds improbable, but we have limited options. Furthermore, given that this entity is unprecedented, we require your team's support."

Bronya:" ...Understood. Bronya will relay the information."

Captain: "Stand by."

The communication line went dead.

Mei turned to Bronya, her expression a mixture of concern and apprehension.

Mei: "Bronya-chan, what's the situation?"

Bronya swiftly explained the Captain's directive to Mei and Kiana.

Kiana: "So, we have to fight that thing?"

She pointed a trembling finger towards the monstrous Drake, its shadow stretching ominously across the ravaged landscape.

Bronya: "Indeed."

Mei: "And it's something no one has ever encountered before?"

Bronya: "Correct."

A tense silence hung in the air before Mei spoke, her voice resolute despite the underlying anxiety.

Mei: "Then... perhaps we should first regroup with the others."

Bronya and Kiana nodded in agreement. Seeing their compliance, Mei turned and began walking, the other two falling into step behind her.

Bronya: "(I wonder if V knows anything about this...)"

Meanwhile, Rita and the cloaked figure known only as V were in hot pursuit of Drake, their movements swift and purposeful. As they ran, V broke the silence.

V: "I'll draw its attention away from the divine key. You coordinate with the others and find a way to attack it."

Rita: Understood. But... are you certain you'll be alright?

V:" What's the matter?"

He asked, a hint of surprise in his tone.

Rita: "Are you sure you can handle it?"

V:" I have to try."

Rita watched his back for a moment, a flicker of unease in her eyes. Sensing her gaze, V turned his head slightly.

V:" What is it?"

Rita: "Nothing. I just... expected a more arrogant declaration of your capabilities."

V: "I'm not foolish enough to overestimate myself."

Rita: "I see."

Silence descended once more between them, broken only by the sound of their rapid footsteps.

Rita:" I'll take my leave then."

V: "Um."

With those words, Rita veered off in another direction, her priority now to gather reinforcements.

V:" (Even with communicators, in this chaos, regrouping is the only reliable way.) If she can gather the others, things will become significantly easier."

Closing the distance to Drake, V leaped into the air with an astonishing burst of speed.

V: "Hey, lizard! Over here!"

Lightning crackled around his outstretched hand, solidifying into a spear of pure energy. With a powerful thrust, he hurled it towards Drake.

The spear struck the creature's flank, but seemed to dissipate harmlessly against its thick hide. Drake retaliated with a swift, powerful swipe of its massive claw.

V narrowly dodged the attack, his movements fluid and precise.

V: "Just as I thought… it possesses a significant resistance to magical attacks."

He continued his assault, weaving around Drake's clumsy attacks, luring it further away from the immobile Holy Key.

As he danced through the air, dodging another sweeping claw, Drake suddenly halted its assault. It drew in a deep, shuddering breath.

V: "Damn it!"

Instinctively, he manipulated his spatial abilities, teleporting to a higher altitude just as a torrent of scorching breath erupted from Drake's maw, incinerating the air where he had been moments before.

While airborne, V conjured a massive block of ice, easily four meters in diameter, and sent it crashing down onto the creature, interrupting its fiery exhale.

As V landed, Drake shook off the shattered ice, its reptilian eyes locking onto him with incandescent rage. A guttural roar ripped from its throat.

V: "Looks like this isn't going to be easy."

On the other side of the ravaged city, Rita had rendezvoused with Captain and Theresa, awaiting the arrival of Mei and her companions. The topic of their conversation was the formidable Drake.

Captain: "Does anyone have any idea what that creature is?"

Theresa: "It looks like a giant lizard to me. So, maybe some kind of Honkai beast related to reptiles?"

Rita: "I don't believe it's merely a lizard, Captain."

Captain:" I concur."

Theresa: "Who cares what it is?! Our priority is to lure it away from the Divine key and eliminate it."

Rita: "That's precisely why we need Miss Mei's assistance."

Captain: "Ah, I see. Reinforcements with a Herrscher's power. But first, we need a distraction."

Rita: "Worry not about the bait, Captain. Someone is already taking care of that."

Theresa: "Who—"

Before she could finish her question, a thunderous explosion rocked the area, drawing their attention. Captain and Rita watched as a figure, a blur of motion, dodged Drake's attack and hurled bolts of lightning at the monstrous creature.

Captain:" Who... is that?"

Rita: "Unknown, Captain. But for now, they are clearly not our enemy."

Theresa: "Hmmph. Well—"

Captain: "Oh, look. It seems the girls have arrived."

Rita glanced at the approaching trio before turning back to the Captain and Theresa, her expression determined.

Rita: "Then let's devise a plan to eliminate that beast."

Meanwhile, Theresa muttered under her breath, a hint of annoyance in her voice.

Theresa:" Why do I always get interrupted?"
